pippo hugging joshy at track nations cup in adelaide c:
pardon me sappy emotional post coming up:
egan bernal just won the colombian national road race. now i first started watching cycling properly in 2019 and egan was the first rider i really fell in love with. after that horrific crash in 2022 itās honestly been so brilliant just to see him racing, iāve been so excited just seeing him in breaks.
i saw an interview with him at the start of the 2023 tour and he said it didnāt matter to him if he never won anything again, he was just so happy to be back in a peloton again.
and now heās won the national title in both the itt and the road race. first wins since the giro in 2021. i barely every cry at this sport but this got me.
2025 is the year of egan guys COME ON
the thing about cycling is they love to hold hands and they love to cry. what more do you want from a sport
Pit debrief put out an article collating the drivers opinions on the Alonso Brake check incident (here)
Lewis being one of the only drivers sympathising with Georgeās fear, being concerned for him, and calling out Alonsoās behavior as unjustifiable where other drivers said George should have just expected itā¦
Hamilton added that he didnāt āunderstandā Alonsoās move, pointing out that Russell found himself in a precarious position as a result.
āThe stewards obviously found a reason to penalise. If I try to put myself in Fernandoās position I canāt understand the manoeuvre, but Iām just glad that George is safe. Itās a frightening position to be in, in the middle of the track, with cars coming around at great speeds.ā
Itās almost like the guy whoās had to deal with Alonso the longest, including being his teammate, might know exactly what he was trying to do.
