I think it's easy to draw Shin and Sara together despite having so many clashing colors because they basically share the same color pallette.

It's an element of their design that I really adore, because it shows that they are so similar despite being foils.

So, do you remember that art poll, a couple months ago, where you asked to see a Greek pottery-style Dors?

So, Do You Remember That Art Poll, A Couple Months Ago, Where You Asked To See A Greek Pottery-style

Well, here she finally is!

(Some commentary under the cut. Feel free to skip, but if you like the drawing please like, leave a comment or reblog! It means the world to me đź’“)

Well, after almost ten hours of work... here it is! My aim was to only use black and red/ocre-ish color used in Ancient Greek pottery, which turned out for what is basically a second attempt! In terms of drawing style though, I steered towards another direction and, for the pose and clothes, I drew inspiration from a 1797 painting of Clio, the Muse of History. This reference just seemed fair to me: after all, Dors being a historian is one of her most prominent character traits, and a lovely one at that. The Muse's traditional attributes of tablet and stylus, pictured in the reference portrait, fit her character so I decided to keep them. The laurel crown was also referenced from the painting and, although it's not traditional, I kept it mostly because I associate Dors with leaf and/or flower patterns. After all, she's the Gift of Spring! I also decided to give one of her drapes a striped pattern, to recall her nickname, "The Tiger Woman". Last but not least, I decided to play around with shadows a bit, mostly on the draperies. Certainly not something you can find on pottery, but nevertheless a nice touch.

Congrats if you've made it so far! I hope you've enjoyed this piece, and I'd love to hear your thoughts about it.

Reminds me of one time that a friend of mine was like "I don't like books where everything is too easy for the protagonist" and I was like "Oh you'd like The Caves of Steel, the protagonist gets the case wrong not once but twice" and he goes "What happens? Twice?" and This sends off me making a two minutes long message explaining the plot

Some mystery writers suffer from making their detective characters too inhumanly clever, with flawless and logical reasoning.

Asimov never made that mistake. He really just had Elijah Baley go in front of the chief of police, point at his android partner, and say “This man is no robot! He faked his own murder and is now pretending to be a robot! I know this because I peeped on him in the bathroom and his penis was incredibly lifelike. No one would give a robot such a realistic penis!” and then has a panic attack and passes out when he finds out that the genitals he’d been ogling were not, in fact, genuine human flesh and his robot partner is made entirely of metal.
