If you don't mind, I'd like to ask some other questions regarding the Keyanga clan. πŸ‘‰πŸ‘ˆ

How are the men for the harem chosen? Does the queen handpick them, and is there a mutual agreement? Or are there trials to determine whether they are worthy of being consorts?

What did you base this concept on? Is there any record of polyandry in African regions? Or is this something original?

Hello, of course you can ask always! I am just a bit slower to answer, coz this is a project with @yararts and we work on everything together. πŸ’œ

The Queen chooses the men she wants in her Harem. However, each man can decide for himself whether to accept the invitation. There is no punishment for refusing the queen's offer. All the men in her harem have chosen the queen and love her in a truly romantic way. Her first husband, with whom she entered into a lifelong bond, has died. She has no bond with the other men in the traditional sense, yet she loves each and every one of them. The men are also NOT in resentment among themselves. They support each other and all help with the children.

In Angola history, where we also drew a lot of inspiration, especially because Yara knows a lot about it because she is Angolan, it was very common for men to live in polygamy with multiple wives. However, since we have a matriarchy in our clan, meaning only women rule, we reversed the positions. It should also be noted that it is not stipulated that it has to be only men. The reigning queen of the Keyanga is free to choose which people she wants to love and therefore have as part of her harem. The Keyanga are also free to have multiple wives or men. Love, loyalty, and peace are very important to the Keyanga. They are a free, peaceful people with a strong leader.

I would also like to point out that even though we are orienting ourselves towards cultures, not everything is 1:1. We want to give ourselves creative freedom to further explore the fact that the Na'vi are an alien species from a sci-fi fantasy universe and to come up with new exciting things. πŸ’œπŸ₯°

This only makes me more depressed at how Disney casts aside beautiful expressive 2D animation for their films.

Nothing against 3D animations, some are masterpieces with their own merit, but the fact that 2D is abandoned as a final product completely is very depressing as it clearly can offer so much as a unique art form for films 😒

River/Northern Bid'ha (another Of @crispy-ghee's Tribes!)

River/Northern Bid'ha (another of @crispy-ghee's tribes!)

The Bid'ha are one of the largest tribes in the Datlokh. Their territory cuts through the entire valley, across the mountains, and into the coastal of the valley's end. Deeper into the valley, where the rivers and lakes pool, the Northern Bid'ha have developed more distinct, thicker set of scutes not unlike crocodilians, to help against the rocks when the rapid and tides of water bash against them. Their southern, more sea-faring cousins, have smoother skin, or their scutes are less defined.

All in all, both river and coastal Bid'ha are ethnocentrically the same. They are physically defined by smoother, downward cruve slants of their crests, long tresses (which they protect in elaborate knots/braids and even netting), and smaller tusks.

The Ki'dto swamps and Bid'ha river territories do overlap, which has been a point of tension for generations before the Unification. They may, occasionally, cross-breed.

One of Kirileg's last mates was a Bid'ha. He did not survive.

Oh gosh definitely a good point every single one of them has their own strong characteristic, or a trait that makes them stand out and even Achilles who is known to have more than your couple of excelling talents. But here comes the one and only King of Ithaca, the guy who only wanted to stay home and chill with his family, and yet he just has a never ending list of killer traits, skills and talents! No wonder he is always being called to clean everyone's meses poor guy is to good for his own well being 🀣

And of course this is the perfect inspo for the cheesy boy! Poor rebel leader who also just wanted a nice calm family life (thankfully he gets it at the end!) and was pushed back and forth in a war and 10000 struggles more πŸ˜‚ who also has a tactical brain too sly and smart for his own good πŸ€£πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘Œ And always followed by his quirky crazy crew too!

Hahahaha don't you love it when characters in the homeric poems go like;

Agamemnon the warrior and king and Menelaus who has loud war cry we have Ajax who is huge and freaking strong we have Nestor the amazing peace maker and diplomat and so on and so forth and while we have kings and mariners hither thither and finally we get Achilles, the one known being fast, best in war, great with spear and sword and somehow surpassing almost everyone at almost everything (usually war related) and a capable musician...

And then we have Odysseus πŸ˜‚

Like wits that rival the gods, master mariner, expert with the spear and great archer fast and fierce despite his age, ultimate survivor, master of disguise a diplomat and a speaker, hunter, carpenter and builder schemer and actor master tactician and a freaking goddess magnet

Like...Homer my dude...leave some talents for the rest of the crew will ya??

The Kokol - Or The Bid'ha "water Boars"

The Kokol - or the Bid'ha "water boars"

These 1,400 lbs beasties are around 6ft at the shoulder and 8ft in length, and can be found up and down the main valley waterways - from lakes to rivers. They mostly scavenge at the bottom, using their sharp claws and powerful limbs to crush and push aside boulders for whatever critter is hiding under, but do actively hunt both in and out of water. So just because you managed to evade the first water ambush and made it to land doesn't mean the Kokol has given up the chase. And, since they live in medium sized family groups, it's often not just one of these on your tail.

They can be hunted and eaten, in turn, but their meat is tough and unpleasant in palate. Better than nothing, however.
