King George V with his son prince George
They were such a harmonious couple ❤️
chopin sketch ^_^ (with a cut off liszt in the corner)
Who was george's favourite prime minister?
Surprisingly, Ramsay Macdonald! George thought he was a gentleman, which was more important to George than politics.
An illustration of King George V and Queen Mary's visit to Parkhead forge in Glasgow during their Scotland tour in july, 1914. After they inspected the various operations of gunmaking, a 100 tone crain was advancing to them, carrying in a shining steel sling a little girl with a bouquet for queen Mary. The child was Miss Annie Dunlop, daughter of one of the timekeepers at the forge. The bouquet was bought with pennies which were subscribed by employes at Parkhead.
Do people realize that Israel is so unrestrained that it’s now launching attacks in Lebanon and Syria as well. Do people realize how little Arab people mean to these genocidal maniacs that they are now killing people in three Arab countries. Can genocide apologists pause their pure hatred for Arabs to at the very least admit this. Or are we going to pretend that Israel has a reason to be intensifying attacks in Damascus right now
watching fish swim in a circle is so healing idk why
This stunning ring, featuring two sapphires set in diamonds, was a gift from Queen Victoria to her granddaughter-in-law, Mary (later Queen Mary), on the day of the christening of her eldest child, Prince Edward of York (later Edward VIII) in 1894. ~ RCT

Various photographs (colourised using MyHeritage) of York Cottage at Sandringham, all taken between 1893 and 1898, which was during the residence of the Duke and Duchess of York (the future King George V and Queen Mary)
"Queen Mary took a big interest in the upbringing of her granddaughters, Elizabeth and Margaret. Their own parents thought it unnecessary for them to have a strong educational regime, so Mary felt it was up to her to educate the young princesses by taking them to art galleries and museums"
Today is Queen Mary' 71th death anniversary. She passed away on march 24, 1953 at the age of 85, in Marlborough House, London (same house where George V was born)
Norman R. Morrison was an American anti-war activist. On November 2, 1965, Morrison doused himself in kerosene and set himself on fire below the office of Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara at the Pentagon to protest United States involvement in the Vietnam War, leading to his death.
On February 25, 2024, Aaron Bushnell, a 25-year-old serviceman of the United States Air Force, died after setting himself on fire outside the front gate of the Embassy of Israel in Washington. Bushnell said that he was protesting against "what people have been experiencing in Palestine at the hands of their colonizers" and declared that he "will no longer be complicit in genocide", after which he doused himself with a flammable liquid and set himself on fire
"In the course of nearly four years of war, His Majesty has seen thousands of female workers and their passion, their dedication and their vivacity at the exciting new world opening up for them gives him no end of pleasure. He bombarded working girls with questions: How long had they been employed? Did they like their work? And what of their brothers at the front? He has a fatherly soft spot for a girl in uniform, and those war-girls have infiltrated almost every establishment that the King visits.”

Royal Bumps (Part 2)
Photoshopped Royal Photos is nothing new. Like the pictures above. The original picture is in the left which shows from L to R: Future king George V with his siblings prince Albert Victor and princess Louise in 1868. In the second photo George is edited out. Imagine such a fuss being made over a photoshopped image

OFF TOPIC
This magnificent ball gown was worn by duchess of Portland Winifred Cavendish-Bentinck, a much admired and respected society beauty, a humanitarian and animal rights activist in fancy, dressed here as Duchess of Savoy, at Devonshire Ball 1897 (which ofc was also attended by George V and Queen Mary)
Hello there!
I've been wanting to read books on the Borgia family for a while, and I feel like you're the correct person to ask about this. Do you have any recommendations?
hiii! thank you for your question :) i often talk about sarah dunant as the best historical fiction writer about the borgia family because of how impressively she depicted their characters and gave them nuance and justice without hyping anyone at the expense of others (fascinating character intros, less yassificated portrayal of cesare borgia, and without resorting to simplifying and taking personal jabs at juan borgia just for the sake of it) in her novel 'blood and beauty'. it also includes groundbreaking twists. now, i want to talk about emma lucas as the best biographer of the borgias. her work is a solid read, very unbiased without any manipulation of the letters about/between the siblings to push certain narratives, well-researched, sheds light on the family's complex relationships and their rise to power, and is highly sympathetic to all of them. you won't be disappointed!!
How I love tiaras 😍😍😍

How to make Royal Icing
i still cannot get it out of my head that a police officer pointed a gun and screamed "get on the ground" repeatedly when faced with a young man burning alive. its been like 12h since i saw the video and it keeps coming back to me. you literally could not ever make this up
if someone wrote this scene as a political metaphor ppl would roll their eyes, as if as if as if. and it just happened. the arm of the state that holds a gun knows nothing but killing even when faced with death itself
This BBC documentary is not available to those outside UK sadly, but I'd like to hear abt it from people who might have seen it
