This magnificent ball gown was worn by duchess of Portland Winifred Cavendish-Bentinck, a much admired and respected society beauty, a humanitarian and animal rights activist in fancy, dressed here as Duchess of Savoy, at Devonshire Ball 1897 (which ofc was also attended by George V and Queen Mary)

An illustration of King George V and Queen Mary's visit to Parkhead forge in Glasgow during their Scotland tour in july, 1914. After they inspected the various operations of gunmaking, a 100 tone crain was advancing to them, carrying in a shining steel sling a little girl with a bouquet for queen Mary. The child was Miss Annie Dunlop, daughter of one of the timekeepers at the forge. The bouquet was bought with pennies which were subscribed by employes at Parkhead.

Postcard with a small illustration of a horse drawn carriage. It was sent to the Prince of Wales, later King George V, by Empress Alexandra Feodorovna on behalf of herself and her husband, Emperor Nicholas II.

The message reads : 'Jan. 1/13. 1905. Darling Georgie, Nicky & I thank you & dear May ever so much for the charming books. It is so sad that we never meet now! We are remaining in the country this winter, as the air is so much better here than in town & Nicky can get out easier for walks here. With fondest love from us both to you two. Don't let the media make what's happening with Israel, Iran and Jordan into some "middle-east problem" again. This was entirely orchestrated and encouraged by the US and the UK. And the US could've stopped all of this by simply not giving Israel money and weapons bu they didn't.
