Miserable Orpheus - A Wolfwren Fanfiction

Miserable Orpheus - a Wolfwren fanfiction

A/N: Hello everyone! I'm back with a new multichapter story, loosely inspired by "Portrait of a Lady on Fire." It's a Painter/Model AU set in 19th century France. Here is an extract but if you want to read the whole first chapter, the link will be at the end!

Shin was surprised to find a young woman, perhaps a few years older than her, sat at a squared table against the wall. A notepad and a box of charcoal stencils took up most of the table, her empty glass of wine pushed to the edge, so close that it threatened to fall off. She was sketching something. She focused on the page for a moment, then looked up. Her brown gaze met Shin’s through the window, and Shin realized that she had been sketching her. The artist avoided her eyes. Shin stared back for another second, then turned away to look at the water cascading in front of her.

Her fingers dug into the sleeve of her dress. She had run out of desperation, without a plan, but now that she was faced with the reality of what she had done, she knew she needed to come up with a plan. She would not survive long on her own, with no money and nothing but a name she could not use. Of course, there were ways for women to make money in this world, places for them to find refuge, but she would rather not think of it.

She was still pondering where to go, where she could stay in this huge city that she had so rarely visited in her life before, when she heard the door to the café open once more. She did not look to her side, at first, not until she notice that someone had come to stand beside her. She turned her head, and her eyes met the curious gaze of the artist. She was wearing man’s clothes, brown overalls over an off-white shirt. Her head was covered by an old flat cap. She had tugged the sleeve of her notepad under her arm. With the other, she pulled out a pipe from her pocket.

“I knew I should have taken a coat before going out,” she said, her tone amused, as if she were trying to make Shin laugh.

Shin rolled her eyes, not in the mood to talk. The artist tugged her pipe between her lips and pulled out a matchbook. She lit a match and brought it to the edge of the pipe, puffed a couple of times, then shook the match out, throwing it into a puddle. The aromatic smell of tobacco surrounded Shin. It smelled better than the one her father smoked.

“Yours is a story I’d love to know.”

“I’m not in the mood to talk,” Shin replied, her tone like vinegar.

“I don’t mean to be impolite, I promise. Just not every day you see a drenched bride standing around here.”

“Wasn’t drawing me without my permission enough for you already?”

The artist only shrugged. She tugged the pipe between her lips once more and reached for her notepad. Unclasping the leather cover, she opened to show some of the sketches she carried. After a second, Shin glanced. The young woman had sketched some of the patrons inside the bar, talking, laughing, reading, one of the waiters carrying a tray. She was the final sketch, the back of her as she stood there, the waves and dips of her dress as water dripped off it.

“I thought it was a challenging thing to draw,” the artist mumbled around her pipe. “Sketches are just training, it’s not to show anyone. If I offended you, my lady, I apologize.”

I got tagged by @balancingtheforce to answer some questions so before I forget to do it, let's answer some questions!

QUESTIONS FOR 15 PALS!

ARE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE? Not my first name but my second and third name I owe to two of my great grandmothers.

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED? End of August, when I moved into residence for university. I multitasked crying and emptying my suitcase XD

DO YOU HAVE KIDS? Nope. I don't really want one, and after working at an elementary school for a year, I want them even less!

WHAT SPORTS DO YOU PLAY/ HAVE YOU PLAYED? As a kid I had to try everything, so I've done a lot of different sports! My favorites is basketball.

DO YOU USE SARCASM? Any occasion that I have ;)

WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU NOTICE ABOUT PEOPLE? I'm not sure how to explain this but vibes I guess? A lot of people when we start talking I get friendly or neutral vibes but a very few I'll get bad vibes so I stay a bit weary of them. They usually turn out to be shit people. I can't explain how it works, but it hasn't let me down so far.

WHAT’S YOUR EYE COLOR? Green.

SCARY MOVIES OR HAPPY ENDINGS? My master's degree's title was "Feminine representation in Post-modern slasher movies of the 2010s" Make of that what you will...

ANY TALENTS? Beside writing, I picked up crochet pretty quickly and I make killer cookies :)

WHERE WERE YOU BORN? Aix-en-Provence, in the south of France, near Marseille.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES? Crochet, video games, and reading. I don't consider writing a hobby, it's my work even if I havent been payed for it yet.

DO YOU HAVE ANY PETS? Two cats, Arya and Beala. They're both calico cats. Arya is 7, she's a princess. Beala is almost a year old and she's a gremlin.

HOW TALL ARE YOU? 1m60.

FAVORITE SUBJECT IN SCHOOL? Literature has always been my favorite subject, first in French and then in English. Second to that is History.

DREAM JOB? Writer, pretty obviously. I'd love to just create stories, not just write books but maybe also one day work on movies and tv shows and video games.

Okay, now I need to tag people to keep the train going. You can answer if you want, I won't curse you if you don't ;)

@kswhateverspace @g0dblessthefandom @exhaustedfrenchstudent @somewillwin @karelx22 @darthmatthewtwihard @redfoxraccoon

How was tagging people was the most stressful part of this! Anyway, have a good week everyone!

I Can See the Force - a Wolfwren fanfiction

A/N: Hello everyone! I have just posted a new one-shot in which Shin gets really drunk and Sabine and Ezra have to guide her back to the shuttle... Not that she's cooperating much! Here is the beginning and if you want to real the whole story the link will be at the end!

After a successful mission, it had become a tradition for Shin and Sabine to get a drink at the nearest bar they could find. This time, Ezra had been fighting with them, and so it was only logical to invite him along. They sat around a small table in the middle of the bar. A life band was playing in one corner, the music interrupted only by the shouts of some patrons or the sound of the hard balls bouncing off each other at the pool table.

Sabine kept glancing at the wall, where a dartboard hung. Shin had noticed her wife’s shifting attention. She knew the longer Sabine was mulling the thought over, the harder she wanted to issue a challenge. The question was, would she challenge Shin or Ezra? When Sabine finished her beer and finally spoke up about it, she tried to make the challenge sound casual:

“Anyone interested in a little game of darts?”

Shin and Ezra exchanged a look. Since neither of them replied, Sabine frowned.

“What?”

“How much?” Ezra asked.

“How much what?”

“How much are we betting? What’s at stakes?”

Sabine crossed her arms.

“We don’t have to bet anything. I was just offering a friendly game.”

Shin shook her head.

“We both know there is no such thing as a friendly game of anything with you.”

Sabine gasped.

“Fine. No darts.”

Ezra sighed. From his pocket, he pulled out a silver ingot of credits and placed it on the table.

“I bet I can hit dead center for all six shots,” he said.

Sabine chuckled.

“You’re so on.”

She tried to reach for the credit but Ezra slid it off the table and stood up. Sabine followed him to the dart board. Shin finished her drink before standing up. Foreseeing that they would be at the bar for another hour, at least, she told them:

“I’m gonna get us more drinks.”

Pull Me Out of the Water, Cold and Blue - a Caitvi fanfiction

A/N: Hello everyone! I haven't be able to get these two out from under my skin since I watched season 2, so I thought I'd try the method that works best for me. I wrote the fluffiest, most sugar-sweet fic that I could. Here is the beginning and if you want to read the whole story the link will be at the end! Enjoy!

Vi was not surprised to find Caitlyn reclined on their bed when she came home in the early evening. Neither of them had had a day to rest since the battle and their day wasn’t over, as they had a fundraiser to attend in an hour. Vi didn’t blame her girlfriend for taking a little nap. If she’d come home sooner from Zaun, she would have done the same, but the reconstruction had taken longer than she’d wished.

Vi lingered by the posters of the bed, arms crossed and a tender smile on her face as she watched Cait sleep. Her girlfriend had only removed her boots and was still wearing her pants and a black turtleneck. Her hair was down but her eyepatch was still firmly in place. She was reclined on her back, one hand over her chest, head turned toward the crackling fireplace. Its golden flames danced over her face like butterflies, and Vi watched as the light and shadows clung to Cait’s features.

“I know you’re staring,” Cait said without opening her eye, a certain amusement in her voice.

“Is that a crime? Are you going to throw me in jail for staring?”

Cait huffed like she didn’t want to laugh but she could not stop the sound from rushing past her lips. She rubbed her eye, stretched, and took in a deep breath. Then, she looked at Vi.

“What time is it?”

“Six-ish.”

“Wake me up in half an hour… That ought to give me enough time to prepare…”

Cait rolled away from the fireplace, legs folding atop the covers.

“Hard day at work?” Vi asked her.

“When is it not?”

Vi glanced at the clock. If her girlfriend was going to take a nap, then she figured she would do the same. She rounded the bed to her side, sat down and removed her boots. Then, she laid down across the huge bed, and rolled until she was facing Cait.

Is this how we should imagine Sabine casually showing off for Shin at the stronghold? ⛸️😂

Loved the fic! ✨

🤣🤣 Thank you! And yes I can absolutely see it! Sabine is just doing the coolest stuff meanwhile Shin is looking like Bambi trying to keep up XD

I just realized that it would be so easy to make a Ocean's 8/Warrior Nun fic with Ava, Beatrice, Camila, Lilith, Mary, Yasmine, Mother Superion, and Shannon trying to steal the crown of thorns. Has someone done it before? Am I the one who's gonna have to do it?

Worth It (Carol/Maria fanfiction)

A/N: Hey guys! Here’s an extract from my new story Worth It, a Carol/Maria story taking place before the Captain Marvel movie with a focus on Carol trying to be the best mom she can be :) Link to the full story at the end of the post!

The familiar sound of a car engine stopping in front of the house pulled Carol out of the show she was watching. She stood up and stretched. Her old Star Wars shirt was pulled up in the motion, and she tugged it back in place before making her way to the door. She was expecting to find a happy four-year-old on the other side, with her usual bright smile. The thought alone made Carol smile in turn, and so she opened the door eagerly.

"Hey! How was shopping? Did you..."

Her voice died down when Monica walked in with a pout. Maria was still rummaging through her car's trunk, trying to pick up the grocery bags all at once.

"We didn't find it," Monica grumbled.

Carol's smile faded, and while Monica walked past her and toward her bedroom to sulk, the blonde walked out to help Maria with the groceries.

"It didn't go as planned, I take it."

Maria sighed.

"They didn't have it and Monica didn't want anything else."

"She's just being stubborn," Carol offered as she picked up as many bags as her arms could carry. "I'm sure she'll come around."

"Yeah, I wonder who she takes after..." Maria said as she closed the trunk with her now free hand.

Carol rolled her eyes.

"You, obviously."

"Funny, that's not what I was going to say."

The couple brought the paper bags to the kitchen, dropping everything on every available surface. Carol started emptying hers and putting everything in the fridge while Maria went to take off her jacket and shoes. Carol had crumbled the empty bag into a ball when Maria joined her in the kitchen.

"Did you call your mother?" she asked almost immediately.

Carol froze for a second before pretending that she hadn't heard anything, hoping Maria would let it slide. Maria, of course, instantly noticed that Carol was avoiding her question.

"Carol?"

"Hm?"

"Did you call your mother to ask if she still had your old costume?"

Carol shrugged.

"Oh, she probably has it somewhere in the attic. My mom never threw away anything that belonged to me or my brother."

Maria closed the cupboard and turned around, her piercing dark eyes falling instantly on Carol.

"So what you're telling me is you didn't call her."

The Ice Witch Stole the Ruby - a RubyxChristina fanfiction

A/N: Hey guys! I’m back for more, this time with a Modern AU in which Ruby starts seeing Christina and Leti hates Christina. Tension arise. Here’s an extract and bellow you’ll find the link to the full first chapter!

Letitia was seating at the kitchen table, procrastinating her homework by complaining.

"All I did was whisper a single word that there's no way she could have heard, and she threatened to give me detention for disturbing the class!"

Ruby was fixing herself a quick snack before going to Sammy's bar for the evening, where she was scheduled to perform.

"I'm assuming that if she threatened with detention it's because she heard what you said."

"It wasn't even bad."

Ruby leaned against the kitchen counter, sandwich in hand as she listened to her younger sister's rant.

"What did you say?"

"I just whispered to Atticus that I thought more Confederate soldiers should have died. I mean, they defended slavery!"

Ruby rolled her eyes. Being opinionated was a family trait to be sure, but where Ruby had had the wisdom to hold her tongue during History classes, Leti had a tendency toward recklessness and impulsiveness that could only lead to trouble.

"Be that as it may, you can keep your comments for after the class."

This time, it was Leti who rolled her eyes.

"Whatever. I bet the ice bitch had Confederate ancestors."

"Leti," Ruby warned.

"You should see her! She's probably super rich cause there's no way she's buying suits like that with a teacher's salary, and there's only so many ways an unmarried white woman has so much money."

At this point, Ruby had completely tuned out her sister's ranting. She washed her plate quickly, letting it dry in the rack, then glanced at the time on the microwave.

"Time to go."

She went into the living room to get her jacket and her guitar, already secured in its traveling bag. As she got ready and checked her appearance one last time in the mirror, Ruby said:

"Finish your homework. I seriously hope you'll be in bed when I come back."

Leti vaguely hummed and looked down at her open textbook.

"And Leti, please, I don't want to be called away from work because you called your History teacher a Confederate, or whatever. Do I make myself clear?"

"Yeah, yeah..."

Ruby sighed. This was at best as it would get.

"Good night," she said as she went to unlock the front door.

"Break a leg," Leti shouted before she left as she began focusing on her homework again.

But She Slept - a CarolMaria fanfiction

A/N: Hi guys! Spoilers for episode 4 of Wandavision. This story is based on some of the events of this episode. Anyway, this is a canon-compliant story about Carol and Maria getting back together after the snap. Here’s an extract, and the link to the full story is at the end! I hope you enjoy!

Monica bought a bouquet of her mother's favorite flowers. Irises, carnations, and purple hyacinths. She was so used to coming to the cemetery to see her grandparents that it took a moment for her brain to process what she was truly doing here. She was going to place flowers on her mother's tomb. She was going to say goodbye, three years too late.

The air was humid, the sky gray. It would rain. Was it worth leaving such a nice bouquet to be soaked in warm rain within the hour? Monica tried to shake the excuse away. She'd delayed this enough. She'd given herself a week to process the Blip, she was due to return to work soon. There were no more excuses to be had. She felt as though something sharp was buried in her chest. It was difficult to breathe.

She neared the grave and stopped. Someone was standing by her mother's grave, placing flowers there. A bouquet somewhat similar to hers. The number of people who knew her mother's favorite flowers was ridiculously small. The number of people who wore an old leather jacket and aviator shades on an obviously rainy day was even smaller. Short blonde hair swept to the side, a familiar if sad smile on her lips. Monica thought she was dreaming.

"Auntie Carol?" she said because the sight of the blonde brought back old bittersweet memories.

Carol turned to look at her, took off the sunglasses. It was her. Monica had absolutely no doubt.

"Wow, look at you," Carol said.

Her voice was wavering. She was breathless as if the mere sight of Monica had knocked the wind out of her. They stared at each other. Neither was certain what to say. Monica's hold on the bouquet strengthened.

"You haven't changed a day," she managed after a moment.

"You... I mean I saw pictures but... I can't believe you're back."

Carol walked up to her quickly. After a second of hesitation, she pulled her in a hug. Monica let herself be hugged, because no one had hugged her since her mother, shortly before her surgery, and that hadn't been a few days ago, but five years ago, and Monica's mind was still reeling, struggling to make sense of it.

"I'm so glad you're okay," Carol whispered, and Monica felt her throat tighten.

They pulled away. Carol kept a hand on Monica's shoulder, just to make sure she wasn't dreaming, and Monica really was there.

"Your mom always said you'd come back. She always believed."

Monica nodded. Her eyes fell on the tombstone behind Carol. She took a deep breath. This was it. Carol must have felt her reluctance. She gave her a comforting smile.

"Is this your first time here?"

"For mom, yes."

"I'm here. Just take your time."

Monica nodded. She hadn't imagined having Carol's support that afternoon, but somehow she couldn't do without it anymore. She felt like a child, running to her mother after she'd accidentally broken her toy. Except there was no fixing this. Cosmic forces bigger than her had taken her away from reality and time and space, and she'd missed her mother's last few years.

Monica approached the tomb slowly. Maria Rambeau, beloved mother, friend, ace pilot, and pioneer. Monica choked on a sob at the words. She struggled to keep her tears at bay, taking deep breaths to try and calm the violent shake of her body. The ache in her chest was so strong, she thought she was having a heart attack. But Carol came to stand by her side and took her free hand in hers, and it became just a bit easier to breathe. She kneeled and left the bouquet next to Carol's.

"I hope you like the epitaph. I promised her I would put 'ace pilot' on it to prove once and for all she was better than me."

Monica looked at Carol with surprise.

"You were there? In the end?"

Carol nodded.

"It's a long story."

Monica brushed the tears out of her eyes.

"Maybe we should find somewhere to sit so I can tell you all about it?"

"Yeah. We have a lot of catching up to do."
