neil spent his whole life trying to blend in and desperately avoiding being remembered, and i feel like a monumental moment that shows how much he’s changing is when he sees himself on the foxes’ photo wall. he even reaches out, ready to tear the picture down, but he hesitates and leaves it up which is just... huge

 he allows that small piece of himself to live on, he lets is stay there, and he even thinks ahead to the future. he thinks of being dead in a few months and of how that small picture will keep him in people’s memories, and for once, he WANTS to be remembered. he wants people to know that he lived and breathed and was a part of the palmetto state foxes. that he was, however briefly, part of their own little messed up, flawed, perfect family. for the first time in his life, he doesn’t want to let himself fade into oblivion 

and for the first time in his life, he’s ready to die if it means protecting the people he loves

hc that andrew smashed all of bee’s glass figurines at one of their first sessions by throwing his hot chocolate mug at them, just to see how she’d react. when she remained calm and pleasant and wasn’t phased, he finally started to warm up to her ever so slightly and he has been building her collection back up ever since 

i feel like we all just forgot that kevin’s on nicky’s List™?? okay a) this is further proof that kevin’s hot af b) does kevin know??? that nicky wants to bang him???? and c) nicky what a waste of a choice, kevin would never

i have so many emotions about One Riko Moriyama, because on one hand i hate him so much but in the other hand, every single time he appeared in the book i just...loved it. cause he added this tension and always progressed the plot. it was just so good yknow? like he’s a little bastard and if he were real i’d hate his guts on i instinct but as a character/ piece of fiction, i find him really interesting to think about. anyways:your thoughts? not just on this but like, riko in general?

riko moriyama is a little bitch and i hate him, but i absolutely agree with that. he’s a terrible person and i was almost as excited as neil when he died, but i also absolutely loved the almost feral side of neil he brought out. riko prompted so many iconic lines, and i was genuinely excited when i got to scenes that had him in them. that could be because i’m a sucker for angst

overall, i hate riko in terms of actual qualities. he wasn’t even a villain i could sympathize with, because he just genuinely enjoyed causing pain and terror for no other reason than that it was fun. but i loved the added angst and drama he brought to the series, it definitely enhanced some of aftg’s best qualities and made it that much more interesting

i absolutely ADORE when people say stuff like “head canon that neil and andrew dance to christmas music when no one is watching🥺” because like they absolutely do not but i love the enthusiasm

andrew frequently wakes up in the middle of the night and tenses at the feeling of skin against his own, but he instantly relaxes when he feels the ridges and bumps of neil’s scars and callouses, completely at odds with the slick, groping hands of his foster siblings. the remnants of neil’s trauma help andrew cope with his own

if nicky knew neil and andrew were making out in the dorm, he would’ve left them to it and found somewhere else to sleep for the night

lots of fanfic makes nicky out to be completely clueless and hyper but in the books, neil says he thinks that nicky has to act more outgoing to make up for the twinyards antisocial tendencies, and he’s actually pretty perceptive - normally realizes as soon as he makes someone uncomfortable, could tell when neil was anxious near the end of the kings men leading up to raven game, just genuinely tries to help others and be a good person but he has to put up an act all the time

i have seen the phrase "book hangover" in reference to that feeling after you first read AFTG for the first time. so i ask the fandom, how long was everyones' hangovers for this wrecking-ball of a series?
