Started the Magnus archives the other day and all I’ve been thinking about are Halloween costumes themed to each episode but I fear the world isn’t ready for that yet

I don’t think you really get a real sense of what Anya is like as her own person. STAY WITH ME PLEASE THIS IS NOT AN ANYA HATE POST I LOVE HER!!

It’s just that she’s under so much emotional stress due to being around her abuser and also being pregnant that we never get to see who Anya is. She’s always on edge and nervous (for 100 percent good reason !!) Plus being through the perspective of Jimmy mainly doesn’t help us seen who she really is.

We don’t see her as a capable and competent nurse because of the way Jimmy frames her, the way he talks about her when in his perspective and the way he treats her. I didn’t really think about how capable a nurse she was because it’s hard to keep somebody in Curly’s conditions ALIVE with limited resources because it’s never mentioned by Jimmy even once. All he sees are her faults because it allows him to feel better about what he did to her, allows him to just see her as not really a human who has prospects and a good future in nursing ahead of her.

Jimmy just wants to take everything from her that could’ve made her human in his eyes so he can feel better about what he did, so he doesn’t feel guilt and doesn’t feel the need to take responsibility. He acknowledges Curly being a ‘hero’ and a good person and (not sure if this an actual quote from the game or if I’m just stupid) that he can’t be half the man Curly was and that’s only because he believes that’s something he can ‘fix’ by putting him in the cryochamber.

ANYWAY main point is that Jimmy is unreliable narrator and attempts to take away Anya’s achievements by not acknowledging them so he can view her simply as an object which lets him feel better about what he did.

If there’s one thing you need to know about me is that I LOVE zombies

A lot of media with zombies will be a hit with me because it’s not about the zombies it’s about what people do with the trope

LIKE at this point it’s not about the damn zombies, they’re a plot device to help you deepen your characters and people can do that in such an interesting way in apocalypse stories

ALSO THE WAY THE ZOMBIES ARE CHANGED IN EVERY STORY I LOVE THAT I JUST LOVE WHEN PEOPLE HAVE FUN WITH IT THAT WAY !!!

I don’t watch enough zombie apocalypse media even though I love it😔

One of the truly most horrifying parts of Mouthwashing is the relationship between Anya and J*mmy. It’s the civil conversation between them. It’s Anya having to ask Jimmy for help. It’s Jimmy feeling comfortable talking to her and making fun of her to her face. It’s Anya talking to Jimmy about the crash as if they’re simply just coworkers in a bad situation together. But it’s the fear on her face. The implied tremble in her voice. The horror of subtext. Anya is stuck with her rapist. She doesn’t know what he’ll do next. She is not only stuck with him but RELIES on him. He is the captain now. She has to ask this monster for help. And he berates her for it. They are in a situation entirely of Jimmy’s creation but he punishes Anya for it.

It speaks a lot on real rapist/victim relationships. We’re not all so lucky as to be able to shut them out entirely. We’re not all so lucky that we get to be cruel back, show our teeth and bite. Sometimes we have to play nice. This is the terrifying reality of Mouthwashing

What does everyone think her last name is?

I’m seeing maybe along the lines of Nusame or Alusame?? Doesn’t sound much like a last name but last names are basically anything and everything I think

Cannot tell for the life of me wether the first letter is an n or an A and L
