Everyone has me paranoid that ff.net is gonna be gone soon so I'm making sure every story I enjoy is backed up along with all my favorite authors.

I started keeping track of all the fics I've read starting January 1st and it's really interesting to see the different stats and everything for the month. I'm hoping I can keep it up all year.

I've been rewatching The Umbrella Academy and honestly their whole soundtrack is just beautiful. I keep adding songs to my playlists.

No sooner had Theseus settled into his princely position, than King Minos of Crete, calls upon Athens for its bloody yearly debt. King Minos son had previously died in the Athenian games, and as an act of revenge, he threatened to invade Athens unless the kingdom sent seven male and seven female youths to Crete to sacrifice for his half-man, half-bull creature within his labyrinth; the Minotaur. Theseus volunteers as one of the youths, determined to stop the beast. King Aegeus tells Theseus if he survives, to switch the ship’s black sail to white upon his return, so his father will know he lives.

Arriving in Crete, King Minos’ daughter, Ariadne, falls for Theseus, and vows to help him if he will marry and bring her to Athens after defeating the beast. Theseus agrees, and Ariadne consults Daedalus, the ingenious inventor of the maze, as to its secrets. She gives Theseus the secrets, and most importantly, a ball of thread, so that he may retrace his steps. That night, Ariadne sneaks Theseus to the entrance, and he enters the dank corridors...

Ariadne is one example of smitten women assisting male Greek heroes on their quests with invaluable clues and tools. The Argonauts, arriving at Colchis to acquire the Golden fleece, were assisted by the princess Medea, who uses magic and ingenuity to help Jason succeed in his labors.

There are many interpretations for the symbolism of Labyrinths in myths. On the surface they show a character on a journey to discover their purpose or destiny through finding the correct path to reach their goal. They’re also symbolic of the stage of the hero’s journey Jospeh Campbell calls the “belly of the whale,” where the hero commits to their metamorphosis, and thus re-emerges from the ordeal, reborn anew. The Labyrinth center could represent a unification with the hero’s inner self, a higher power, or the ultimate challenge, and the tunnel could represent a birth canal.

First off, I didn’t realize that this didn’t get posted last Monday (woops), so it's late but hey, why not?

This week I moved away from MDZS and TGCF and got hooked on a few different fandoms. I was browsing and found someone recommending this Good Omens fic and I’m so glad I read it and am reall surprised I hadn’t heard/read it before! It is for sure a new all time favorite. Overall, I jumped around a few fandoms and I’m ending the week by (once again) becoming obsessed with Star Trek TOS/AOS fics (a.k.a spirk) and managed to find some new favorites (one of which I already recommended to my best friend).

Anthony J Crowley is fucking great at this job. He can be sneaky, underhanded and damn ruthless but also charming and kind. It’s what makes him good at turning.

Aziraphale is just a regular Soho bookseller who loves his shop and books and good food and wine when he’s approached by a woman claiming to be MI5, wanting to recruit him for espionage. The poor man is too trusting and gets the shock of his life when he’s approached by a charming but dangerous-looking man also claiming to be MI5.

Crowley recruits Aziraphale to double cross a double crosser and Aziraphale takes to espionage like a duck to water.

Danger, hijinks, and sex ensue.

𝘊𝘖𝘔𝘔𝘌𝘕𝘛𝘚: A human au I didn’t know I needed! Somehow the author manages to blend everything really well into a human au while keeping everyone in character.

Eliot’s stomach drops as he realizes tat this a terrible fucking mistake, because this ain’t a random elderly woman showing up to collect cans or take up donations or whatever it is that elderly woman in weirdfucking places like Portland do. This is Hardison’s nana, and Eliot has just opened the door to the apartment--to Hardison and Parker’s apartment--like he lives there.

𝘊𝘖𝘔𝘔𝘌𝘕𝘛𝘚: When Hardison’s Nana visits Eliot ends up feeling like an outsider. This fic showed us Eliot’s insecurities and how he feels like he’s intruding but Parker and Hardison prove his isn’t true with the bonus of introducing us to Hardison’s Nana! (We need more fics with Nana.)

When he’s sure that it’s bound to mess everything up. There’s a catch, though; even though no one (Jim included) knows it, this is the very same Spock that Jim was best friends with as a kid.

𝘊𝘖𝘔𝘔𝘌𝘕𝘛𝘚: An amazing fic about what it would have been like if Kirk and Spock were childhood friends. The author has an amazing talent of writing everyone in character and making sure that you get hooked and can’t put the story down. I knew by the second chapter this was going to be a new favorite and by the time I finished had already recommended to one of my besties.

Just finished The Last of Us on Sunday when ep.9 aired and I loved the show! I'm such a sucker for found family. I loved it show much I showed a friend and we watched the first two episodes together and I'm honestly gonna binge the show again! 😂

They are my favorite comic book couple (with Harley being my favorite comic character) so this is amazing!!!
