Adarro (Ah-dar-rho) A god of friendly water and the sea. He is sometimes called “White Dolphin Spirit.” Adarro is the son of Sumon and Phoenix. Adarro is called the fisherman’s god, as he brings good fishing to men and protects them as well. He is a joyful god and when not swimming about the waves can be seen joyfully dancing about the beach, celebrating with mortals. In this way he can also be seen as a god of abundance, to those that depend on the sea for food. And some attribute the skill/sport of surfing to Adarro. He is often summoned before a beach gathering, to bless the celebration and asked to join in on the fun.
There are little sacred tales of Adarro, as he seems to avoid trouble, instead enjoying his times in the water and beaches. During the Seven Sacred Days, Adarro spent his time with mortals, teaching them how to catch fish, build boats and weave nets and trap-baskets. He also showed mortals how to avoid the waters when they could be destructive.
Adarro is seen as a most handsome youthful sea god; his hair is blond and curly, and his body is lean and tanned by the sun. Often, he is seen without clothing or just a wearing a long “stola.” Sacred offerings to the god come in the form of meals of fish, star-fish & dolphin votives, water lilies, seaweed and of course incense.
Saul (Sawl) God of the light and day, born from the will of Bia. As such Saul is a god of the great creatrix along with his brothers and sisters.
Before Saul, the universe was black and filled with darkness that his brother Daeth and sister Tora ruled over. Saul and his other sister Shayla were opposite of their siblings and grew tired of this eternal night and dark. Saul learned that Light was confined to a small place and guarded by a great celestial lion. Mustering up the bravery that his brother had before him Saul faced down the mighty beast and defeated it. He then unleashed the celestial light and thus the suns and stars were placed in the heavens. And at the same time the law of balance was instilled in the heavens.
Saul is seen as a young male god of great glorious beauty and radiance. He is said to bare long blond hair and wear a simple light-colored robe, or even wander the heavens naked. The only scared symbol to Saul is the Lion, which is said he walked the heavens with. Aside from incense, his only other sacred offering is images of golden lions.
Tsellet (T-sel-let) Goddess of Duannat who purifies the soul of those that have passed away. She is the daughter of Chumash and Kalma and the sister of the keepers of the gates of Duannat.
She is considered in some way a Handmaiden of Daunnat but her role is so much bigger than that. Her role is to make sure that each and every soul that enters Daunnat is purged of all its worldly sins and ills. No soul can enter Daunnat otherwise. It is done there a series of chants and the four sacred cleansings by earth, air, fire and water. Once the soul is cleansed of all impurities, only then will Tsellet allow a soul to pass on.
It is said that Tsellet’s home is not in Daunnat itself by on the far beach of Evermore, just before one reaches the first gate to Daunnat. Sadly Tsellet is a lone body where her home is.
Tsellet is described and depicted as a young goddess with her hair pulled back and simple clothing in the colors of browns and lavender. It has been said that she is always seen with a basket in hand, which contains all the implements used to purge souls of sin and illness. Other times she is said to just hold a lavender wand in her hand. Sacred to Tsellet is Lavender itself and well as all scents that are used to purge away ills. These scents are often gifted to her in 7 bowls and often during a funeral rite, as Tsellet is rarely prayed to else someone has passed on.
Ortsal (Or-tsal) Ortsall is the God of the 3rd Gate of Daunnat and of eternal love and self love in the land of Daunnat. Ortsal like the other gate guardians of Daunnat are the children of Chumash and Kalma. He is one of the older of the sacred seven gate keepers.
As with all the gods of Daunnat, Ortsalt is not an evil god, nor a god of judgment. His role is that of a guardian of Daunnat. He is the bestower of self love to spirits, as no spirit can enter Daunnat without this virtue. And he is also the god that units souls back together whe were in love and wed during their lifetime. However, it is common for the living to call to Ortsal who are suffering from the lack of love, but he is not the bestower of such love. These attributes are gifted from Brenda, Dhonnan, Shane and Onaur. As god of the Gate of Love, Odjett is one of the 7 gods of the sacred septagram. He sustains from visiting Alaway, instead preferring to live and feast with the spirits and other gods and souls in Daunnat.
Ortsal has no known totem animal, instead always staying in his godly form. He is seen as a man black leather jerkin and purple tunic under that with silver trimmings. At times he is seen carrying a heptagram tile or a hunter’s horn, which is blown when he allows a soul past his gate. It is said by the god Brand, Ortsal bears long brown hair and something of a beard and moustache, giving him something of a fatherly look.
Sacred to Odjett is the Septagram and riding blow horn. During funeral services, a bowl of milk is left to him, as customary and a statuette of the departed, so the god will recognize the departed’s soul, which is identical to his body.
Rhya (Ry-ah) Queen of the gods and goddess of women’s rituals and psychics in the Bowynn pantheon. She is the daughter of Phoenix and Sumon and the sister of Kalma and Kauldra. When it comes to all things of feminine arts and persuasion, Rhya is the goddess to look to. She is the goddess that initiates girls into the temples when they are of age.
In many ways Rhya is much like her Mediterranean counterparts Juno and Minerva, in that she is the queen of the holy family. But that’s where the similarity ends. Rhya is a most loving and devoted wife but also a motherly goddess, not just to her own children but to all of the Akua. Thus, Rhya is a patron of not just queens but mothers.
The most epic tale of Rhya is that of her being wooed by Anhur. The handsome young go fell in love almost instantly. As did Anhur’s brothers fall for Rhya’s sisters. But Rhya refused to be taken in by fancy talk and demanded that Anhur show how much he loved her. Anhur brought Rhya the most glorious gifts from all over the earth. But each one Rhya turned down. This continued for a long time till the god was exalted and there were no other gifts on earth to bring Rhya. Finally, Anhur simply pledged his love, truly and unconditionally. This what Rhya was waiting to hear the whole time, and she accepted his hand in marriage.
Rhya is seen in her immortal form as a well-formed woman of a motherly look. She has raven black hair that is crowned and veiled, depicting his queenly statue. Her garments are of pure white and silver. Other times it is of a lavender color and accented in some manner with a votive image of a peacock. During times where her presence is seen at weddings ceremonies, she is accompanied by the god Dhonan. Together they sanctify the couple being wed. Being that her totem is a peacock, she will take this form when in the presence of mortals. Sacred to her is the crown, staff and votive image of a peacock or its feathers.

Phoenix (Fee-niks) In the Bowynn Tradition, Phoenix is the daughter created by Bia. Sister to Brea, Unthar, Summon. She is the very element of Fire and one of the great creatrix. Phoenix is the goddess of fire, volcanoes, earthquakes, flame, warmth of light and smoke. She is not just the destructive side of these attributes but the nurturing side as well. She warms people in the winter and from destruction comes life anew, She is the baker of pottery, melter of sand to make glass and metals, the heat and flame of the hearth.
When the gods created mankind from earth, it was Phoenix that baked the clay that was used to form mankind, there-by not only giving mankind skin, but gave each one a heart of passion and love. And she assures us that from death, we are reborn again. Not because we are to learn life's lessons but to embrace all that life has to offer that is wonderful. She is one of the great 7 that form the symbolism of the septagram. During the time of the great 7 Sacred Days, Phoenix gave mankind the knowledge of fire, How to make it, contain it, how to avoid and respect it, how to tame it and use it for our advantage.
Phoenix is seen as a motherly figure of deep red hair and dress. She bears a golden circlet on her head as well. Not a fearful figure but a warm embracing goddess. Other times she is seen as a great red phoenix bird. Sacred to Phoenix is images of phoenix birds and a candle flame. These are the most common gifts given to the goddess but any image of birds or fire is welcome to the goddess.
Yormell (Yor-mel) Mammoth god of the weather, wind, air and rain. He is the creation of Brea and the other gods of creation. In the time of the giants, before the Akua ruled the world, Yormell ruled over the winds and the weather. When the Akua took over the world and the wind gods took over. The 4 brothers of the winds felt sorry for old Yormell and so he became their eyes of the world and instructor as to where the winds should blow. And at time Yorell would help them out, stirring up the clouds to induce rain and storms. In the winter Yormell will assist the gods of winter Arn and Myliea in their travels across the world, making sure it's cold and snow is falling, creating winter wonderlands for the gods and mankind alike.
Yormall is seen most of the time in his divine storm; that of an old man in white winter robes. In his hand he carries a staff that’s topped with a deer antler or a long mammoth tusk that is said to help provide snow. In his totem form Yormell appears as a white mammoth of great size. Sacred to Yormell is a milk libation, bowls of water, incense and wicker fans.
Istra (Is-tra) Istra is the Goddess of the 3 fold law, respect, retribution and lawful vengeance. She sits on the left hand of her mother Rhya; her father being Anhur. Istra is the sister of Ion and together they guard over the sacred laws of Bia and the laws of their father, given to mankind. She is not a vengeful nor destructive goddess. In fact, she is rarely seen, only stepping forward to people who call to her help who have suffered great injustice by the acts of others. If the mortal asks her to help them, they must be completely innocent and have been wronged by others. Istra will then seek out those that have hurt said person unjustly and bring balance to the damage that was done. However, if the person who calls to her is lying, Istra will see through the person and purge him with ill times.
Istra is something of a huntress. But instead of animals, she hunts wrong doers. It is said her sword and arrows do not kill. They have been blessed by Bia and so, when her sword or arrows strike her target, the arrows bring about the justice so fitting the person's crime. Tales of Istra’s justifiable powers are endless. Yet none ever talk about bringing about death. To Istra, death is a coward’s way out of receiving the 3-fold law. Even those that commit murder. If death does come to a person that Istra is asked to hunt, it is not by her doing. Some question if the goddess every does what others pray to her for, when it seems people get away with so much bad things. To this the goddess Istra said that justice will always come in time.
Despite her attributes, Istra is not a fearsome goddess. In fact, those that have been graced by her divine presence, describe her as most beautiful, long jet black hair and emerald green eyes. Her garment, bow, arrows and circlet are golden. When not seen in her immortal form, she takes the form of a butterfly, her totem. All truly offered gifts are welcomed by Istra: food, flora, flame, votive and more. It is also highly suggested that receive Istra's help, that it be followed up with a plethora of offerings and a card or script of thanks.
Hello! I stumbled across your blog and I’ve never heard of Bowynn. Tried doing some research and can’t seem to come up with anything. I’m hoping if you could tell me where Bowynn comes from I could get a lead, if you don’t mind :)
In short, the Bowynn tradition is tradition that was started by very close friends and I back in the 1980's back on Long Island NY. The information gathered and comprised here comes from endless hours, days, years and decades of meditation, vigils and prayers. Not to mention several encounters of divine intervention. The tradition has become much more than just a faith as time progressed but in general, it is indeed and faith-based religion.
In the far past we had tried to bring it up in various groups and sites but we were always knocked down by someone "Oh you stole this from a roleplaying game." and other junk. So, after a while, we just kept it on the quiet. For no other reason than to avoid ridicule. So no, you will not find much at all about it on the internet. Though I know there is some old art and articles that were stolen from old postings on places like Facebook, Deviantart and SpellsofMagic being spread about over the years by non Bowynn.

The Vlenndra Devotional is a special act of praise that is done at the start of any religious act. It is much like a Christian will draw a cross with their finger across their body as they chant "To the father...". The Vlenndra Devotional is a form of attunement with the spiritual. There is no true English word nor term for "Vlenndra." Though some have interrupt it to "devotional" but it is really so much more beyond that.
Before the start of any prayers, rite or magic spell, be it alone or with one's clan, the Vlenndra Devotional is performed. It is an opening to your prayers, a way of preparing oneself, a separation from what you were doing in your mundane time and your spiritual life. The Vlenndra act is sort of a key to unlocking a door to the divine world and a reminder of that which is holy. Many use the Vlenndra devotional by itself as a morning affirmation. The Vlenndra devotional need not be done at one's altar but anywhere: Facing the morning or setting sun, at the rise of the moon, over a meal, at a moment when things go wrong.
The Vlenndra devotional is simple in itself and yet within its simplicity, atones one with our faith. It is started by taking up a simple incense stick of any scent. When the tip glows, blow out the flame and let it smoke. Then in the air draw a septagram with the tip. As you do this, speak the following:
“By Earth, By Air,
By Fire, By Water,
By Soul, By Spirit,
By Bia.”
Finish each septagram off by encircling it. Done as a daily practice, this is repeated 3 times in total. However in some remote cases one may wish to do this as much as 7 and 9 times. A Myst {witch] will use the common 7 times before casting a spell, during a holiday or during a vigil, 9 times is the norm. After which the incense stick is placed in its holder. The Vlenndra Devotional is done. One should never rush through the Vlenndra. You should think about your actions, its words, what each of these elements mean to you, absorbing each element as you speak the Vlenndra and how you plan to incorporate them throughout your day. At the same time, the devotional need not be done too slow either. The main thing is that when done, with the devotional you should feel spiritually attuned for moment.
Intarro (In-tar-rho) The Intarro are also known as the “steals light people.” These are a type of Tii created by Mano to create disorder, chaos and darkness in the world so his cousins Brand and Kord could not see when he attacked them. After the battle the Intarro disappeared into the sky where they normally dwell. Now they engage themselves in creating eclipses to trick people. The Intarro sometimes come back to earth where they take the form of humans and cause pranks. They are best known for their vampire-like looks and tendencies; pale skin, red/yellow glowing eyes and skin filled with tattoos. Happiness, laughter, joy, music and light are their enemies. Like Mano, the Intarro are never called to or invoked. Even calling on them to curse someone is shunned, as they will never leave and even plague that caster of the spell.
