uhhhhhh au where kai sacrifices himself and becomes one with his element except... not really

the others try so hard to bring kai back but every time, it's a different person. it's then that they realized that all these people were previous masters of fire (i'd like to think ray is also there but as a partial vestige, kind of like all might's vestige in one for all) for they came from fire and therefore to fire they shall return. and yet, kai isn't one of them.

it's only until much, much later that the ninja find out where kai went: his fire was different because it was always fueled by his need to protect his loved ones with everything that he had. and what better way to keep them safe than to become one with the sun, where he could always watch over them?
