This is how I would describe being dyslexic in Supernatural terms

May I just say it is so delicious how Odyssey’s and Athena’s character arc are the inverse of each other but still the result of missing but more importantly loving a person. I just really love when media take the phrase “to be loved is to be changed” and runs with it.

And their characters arcs do such a fantastic job of illustrating that. Also the fact that the change happened when they were without the physical presence of the people they love, it just further drives home the point that loves changes a person and that epic (the odyssey in general but Ik more about epic so we’re focusing on that) is a love story.

Ody going from “no dying on me now” to “but we’ll die. - I know” basically a full 180 from who he was, showing what desperation and longing does to a person in love. Sure he becomes a monster but he gets home so the ends justify the means

And then there is Athena

Athena who is unaware of how close she has truly grown to ody, and how much love she holds for him, leaves him without a second a thought but in those ten years away from him, she also does a full 180 on who she was. Appearing to Telemachus as a more open and vulnerable person because of the love she discovered she had for ody while they were apart. 

Like it’s just so good! And when they do come together and reveal how love has changed them for good and bad. Neither really ask the other to go back to who they were, Athena kinda does but she understands so fast that he can’t because she can’t go back to who she was either.

Like these two friends who have known each other for so long are able to look at eachother and see a completely different person and be like yes love irrevocably changed you and I don’t fully know you now but that’s okay because love changed me too. So they sit in contempt and it’s just so nice!!

I hope this makes sense but I just really love how their characters arcs are the opposite but still caused by the same force.

Why does nobody talk about S14E16?!??! I’m like barley 5 minutes into it and it’s so S1 coded. Like the pre intro bit has some of the WORST acting I’ve ever seen, it starts with two kids making out in a car with spooky nosies AND the girl dies. Small town, police being emotional invest + protective of the case, just Sam and Dean, we’re fbi, ghostface next gen hanging with Jack, the guest stars (father- son duo) mirroring Sam and Dean (father-son duo). All I need is to hear is “so get this, according to the lore …” with some sprinkling of bitch and jerk and shitty camera quality with shitty lighting and BOOM season one!
