In this post i will be coining a new term for the aromantic community;;

Somewharo

First Flag: [START ID: a rectangular flag with 6 equally-sized horizontal stripes, going from a dark teal to yellow :END ID]

Second Flag: [START ID: a rectangular flag with 9 equally-sized horizontal stripes. the first four stripes are a gradient from light blue-green to dark blue-green, the middle stripe is off-white, and the last four stripes are a gradient from dark green to soft yellow-green :END ID]

Somewharo is a term for those on the aromantic spectrum who feel like they are somehwere on it and just can place where. They either don’t fit into any of the pre-existing arospec labels, or fluctuate a lot on the aro spectrum, or can’t place where due to neurodivergency.

People who use this term may or may not use aroflux alongside it.

I wasn't thinking I'd need to blaze this, Tumblr, but I need your help with gathering resources for questions to be answered during a family crisis.

Recently, I publicly came out as transgender and my sisters are having a rough time trying to process it. For context, the three of us (all in our 30s) were raised Catholic and I started coming to terms with my being transgender in 2007, only wholly accepting the label in 2019. I had been in the closet wrt family with the sole exception of my father. I wasn't sure why, but I was most comfortable telling him that I was struggling with my gender identity.

I found out why in 2021 when I realized he was ordering and wearing clothing and accessories from the women's section and had pierced ears and regularly got French manicures.

My own coming out may have unintentionally helped kick start a crisis for my sisters, and my brother-in-law informed me that my sisters suspect that our dad is also transgender.

My brother-in-law has already voiced support as well as an apology in advance if he gets my pronouns wrong (I already assured him that I'd rather be patient than mean). He also communicated with me that I had the support of my father and my sisters, but that they weren't sure how to process all of this on an emotional level.

This is where y'all come in.

I'm looking for books and articles and podcasts that would best help cisgender adult allies understand the struggles of being transgender, ways that cis folks can help, and especially how to come to terms with having a transgender family member.

I appreciate any help I can get and I cede the floor to my fellow chaos gremlins that haunt this site.

If You Are Or Know A Trans Person Living In England, Please Read This!

Our Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, is reportedly planning to 'review and revise' The Equality Act 2010, and plans to remove legal protections for transgender people living in England, claiming to "make it clear that sex means biological sex rather than gender".

If this becomes reality, trans people will be denied access to same-sex spaces, including bathrooms, hospital wards, shelters and safe houses. Trans people will not have a legal right to go into these spaces, meaning they will not only be at greater risk of discrimination but also legal trouble too.

If these protections are removed from The Equality Act, trans people will be forced to declare their Assigned Gender At Birth as their gender identity in these situations for their own safety.

Sunak has been vocal about his transphobia in the past. If this is approved, more of our rights may be taken away in the future.

Even if this doesn't directly affect you, please help the ones that it does. Trans people are already discriminated against daily just for living their lives, please help us to stop Rishi Sunak from making it worse.
