Stranded/Lost One Shot

image

Prompt: Stranded/Lost

Fandom: Original Work

Jane ran through backyards glancing over her shoulders. She could hear a car driving down the street, and she prayed that it was just a resident of the neighborhood.

She continued running through the backyards until she ran into a road. She stopped and sat down on the front yard of some large house.

Headlights turned down the road, and Jane’s heart started to race.

Was it them? She got to her feet.

As the car got closer, it started to slow down.

It was them.

Jane turned to the house on her left and ran into the backyard. She started running through the yards again. This time she knew that the car that she heard was them.

Jane stopped. She could hear the car continue on, and she breathed a sigh of relief.

Looking around she tried to get her bearings, but she didn’t recognize anything.

Sitting down she cradled her head in her hands.

It started out as a normal day. She had gone to work and went home. That’s when she got a text from her boss asking her to come and grab some product to take to the warehouse. Just a normal errand. She asked her to do it all the time.

She showed up at the house and knocked on the door. No one answered, so she opened the door and went inside like she usually does.

She walked down the stairs to her boss’s office, and that’s when it got weird.

The door was open, which was never the case, and she could hear multiple voices in the room.

“We want the product moved right now.” A gruff voice carried out to the hallway.

“Like I said it will be.” Jane’s boss sounded confident like she had done this previously.

“What about the cops on our backs?”

“I have a plan in place. I have asked one of my employees to carry the product to the warehouse. If it is found, it won’t have any evidence pointing to us. Only to her. We will be in the clear.”

The scrape of a chair being pushed back startled Jane. That was her they were talking about. She backed up and started waling back up the stairs.

The office door was pushed open, and the gruff voice yelled, “Hey who are you?”

Jane didn’t know what to do so she started running. She pulled the front door open and ran down the street. She could hear the gruff voice and her boss yelling at her. Then a car started, and it pealed out of the driveway.

She turned to her right and ran into the backyard, then kept running.

Pulling herself out of her thoughts she looked around again and tried to notice some landmarks that would clue her in on where she was, no luck. She was lost. That’s when she saw the light.

The light shone between the two houses. Hesitantly she approached the light.

A voice echoed between the buildings, and she froze. It was the gruff voice that she had heard in the basement.

She quietly started backing up.

The voice started getting closer until she could see the figure past the corner of the house.

That’s when she turned and ran.

The gruff voice yelled “Stop.”, but she didn’t want to.

“Don’t worry. She doesn’t know where to go. We will find her again.” Her boss’s voice echoed, and Jane felt the pit in her stomach grow bigger.

Hey Goblins, uh

Did you know, that you can make an AWESOME journal for your adventures ALL ON YOUR OWN from a cereal box and paper/scraps that you likely have at home/can get from friends or family/you may find around your environment?

They’re called Junk Journals and they’re my entire life.

Im gonna do my best to walk you through how to make one! First, get you a mini cereal box! I use boxes from those cool multipacks of cereal that you can find at Walmart!

Hey Goblins, Uh

And then cut it out so it looks like this! (I already had one cut, so I’m gonna use that)

Hey Goblins, Uh

That “nutrition facts” side is gone become your spine!

Next, find some paper to use to decorate your cover! I was lucky enough to be gifted a bunch of scrapbooking paper, so I’m gonna use that, but you can also use newspaper, paper from books/magazines, junk mail, napkins, paper towels (excellent texture), etc!

Hey Goblins, Uh

Go ahead and glue that paper to your box (to cover the cereal logo) and cut it out! It’ll look like this;

Hey Goblins, Uh
Hey Goblins, Uh

Next you need to find your pages! Again these can be anything! Junk mail, envelopes, receipts, food wrappers, magazine/book pages, scrapbook paper, computer paper, construction paper, ANYTHING. Just grab a whole bunch!

You’re gonna want to fold them in half and cut them to the size of one of the covers of your box, and layer other pages inside of it to make your signatures, like this!

Hey Goblins, Uh
Hey Goblins, Uh

Each signature should be about 7-10 pages. You don’t want them too thick, otherwise the inner pages start sticking out when folded in half. You’re gonna have a LOT of these signatures, as you wanna fill the area in the spine as best as possible. For this one I’m using 7 page signatures. Here’s a pic to show just how much paper you’ll need

Hey Goblins, Uh

Each of these signatures are 7 pages, 6 signatures have only filled about half of the spine, so I’ll need probably 6 more.

Next you gotta figure out how you want them in your journal. Personally, I like to sew them into the spine, but you can also keep them in the spine with rubber bands, so you can have removable pages! (Be weary that rubber bands may break over time! So you may want to always keep extra bands near it to replace in case one snaps. This is why I prefer sewing them in) I find it best to look up on YouTube how to sew in signatures, just because having someone walk you through it where you can see what they’re doing is easiest. If you can’t access YouTube, there’s plenty of text tutorials on how to sew in signatures online, or you can message me! I’m not gonna go too into detail, but here’s the jist;

Hey Goblins, Uh
Hey Goblins, Uh

Okay so I’m a forgetful gob and I hecken forgot to take pictures as I was going along kahshshshsh

But essentially, I sewed in the pattern similar to the one I drew. The dots are where the needle goes all the way through to the back. I also like to use rubber band as an extra mode of support but you can do one or the other. I also like both cuz I can tuck stuff in em between the pages. Since I didn’t take more pictures; I’d really recommend looking up a how-to on YouTube or w/e if my badly drawn diagram isn’t clear enough (heh sorry about that)

Next, I glue fabric to the spine. It spruces it up quite a lot and holds the rubber bands in place, plus it give more support to the spine since there’s gonna be a lot of strain on it.

Only 10 photos per post, so I gotta post this and reblog it with the rest.

“What? Like, a disabled protagonist? How would that even work? How could someone with a disability be the hero in an action show?” local anime trash boy wonders while sitting next to his box sets of Full Metal Alchemist, showing no hint of irony or self awareness.

Writing Prompt #1959

"I'm done playing nice, little heroes." The villain straightened his back, and wiped the blood from his lip. "So this is your final warning; turn around, go home, and let me finish my business."

Game-Changing Sites for Writers

A recent search for a specific type of site to help me build new characters led me down a rabbit hole. Normally, that would make me much less productive, but I have found a treasure trove of websites for writers.

Bring Characters/Places to Life

There are a few different places you can use to create a picture of something entirely new. I love this site for making character pictures as references, instead of stock photos or whatever pops up on Google Images.

thispersondoesnotexist: every time you reload the page, this site generates a headshot of someone who doesn't exist. This is great if you're thinking about a character's personality or age and don't have specifics for their facial features yet.

Night Cafe: this is an AI art generator that takes your text prompt and generates an image for it. I tried it for various scenery, like "forest" or "cottage." It takes a minute for your requested photo to load, but no more than maybe five for the program to finish the picture.

Art Breeder: this website has endless images of people, places, and general things. Users can blend photos to create something new and curious visitors can browse/download those images without creating an account. (But if you do want to make an account to create your own, it's free!)

Find Random Places on Earth

You might prefer to set a story in a real-life environment so you can reference that place's weather, seasons, small-town vibe, or whatever you like. If that's the case, try:

MapCrunch: the homepage generates a new location each day and gives the location/GPS info in the top left of the screen. To see more images from previous days, hit "Gallery" in the top left.

Atlas Obscura: hover over or tap the "Places" tab, then hit "Random Place." A new page will load with a randomly generated location on the planet, provide a Google Maps link, and tell you a little bit about the place.

Random World Cities: this site makes randomly selected lists of global cities. Six appear for each search, although you'll have to look them up to find more information about each place. You can also use the site to have it select countries, US cities or US states too.

Vary Your Wording

Thesauruses are great, but these websites have some pretty cool perspectives on finding just the right words for stories.

Describing Words: tell this website which word you want to stop repeating and it will give you tons of alternative words that mean the same thing. It typically has way more options than other sites I use.

Reverse Dictionary: type what you need a word for in Reverse Dictionary's search box and it will give you tons of words that closely match what you want. It also lists the words in order of relevancy, starting with a word that most accurately describes what you typed. (There's also an option to get definitions for search results!)

Tip of My Tongue: this website is phenomenal. It lets you search for that word you can't quite place by a letter in it, the definition, what it sounds like, or even its scrambled letters. A long list of potential options will appear on the right side of the screen for every search.

---

Hope this helps when you need a hand during next writing session 💛

Thought #1

"I have to help them!" She yelled jumping from her chair.

"You can't. They want you." He said calmly.

She took off towards the door. He stepped in front of her grabbing her wrist.

"You are more important." He said softly pulling her closely wrapping his arms around her.

"You don't get to tell me what to do." She screamed pushing against his chest as tears streamed down her face.

"You're right, but I'll do everything I can to keep you safe." He said as he tightened his grip.

(Y/N) shoved the door open, throwing her bag onto the couch. She stomped through the house, slamming things as she worked in the kitchen. Angry was an understatement and Anti knew this as he ventured into the kitchen. He leaned against the archway and watched, in amusement, as she shoved things around huffing angrily when things knocked over.

“Bad day?” Anti chuckled as she knocked the tea leaves over.

“Bite me.” she snapped at him, grabbing the broom to sweep up the mess. Anti’s grinned widened, raising an eyebrow at the suggestion, thus causing (Y/N)’s glare to harden.

“That can be arranged, Doll.” Anti purred, going to wrap his arms around her waist. (Y/N) slammed her palms against the countertop, surprising Anti.

“I am so sick of perverts!” (Y/N) growled pushing back to get Anti off of her. She turned to face said entity, a look of determination set in her expression. “This is the fifth time someone has tried to get with me. I’m done with it, the next person who touches me is going to get body slammed.”

“Doll, you can barely move the coffee table without help. There is no way you are going to body slam a grown man… But if you send them my way…” Anti’s voice dropped at the end of his sentence, not liking the fact that people were trying to get with (Y/N).

“Teach me to fight.” (Y/N) stated, trying to leave no room for protesting. Anti scoffed and shook his head, following the human as she went to the living room.

“Absolutely not, Doll.”

“I wasn’t asking.” she grunted as she attempted to push their couch to the wall. Anti rolled his eyes and grabbed her arm, pulling her against him.

“I wasn’t debating, either, Dollface. I’m not going to teach you to fight, you got me, you don’t need to learn.” Anti stared directly into her eyes, as if he were trying to read her mind; trying to transfer his thoughts into her brain and make her obey him.

“Anti.” (Y/N) said, her tone turning sour as she glared up at him. She never liked his mind games. “Please. I want to know how to defend myself. I don’t want to depend on you.” she took the sweet route, but the gears in her mind were turning.

“I want you to depend on me, Doll. Yo-” Anti started, but was cut off by a soft fist hitting the side of his face. The room fell silent and Anti let out a small growl.

“Teach. Me.” (Y/N) hissed, bringing her other fist up, trying to connect it to his face. The air turned heavy as Anti dodged the hit, ducking around her and grabbing her wrists.

“Doll.” Anti’s body glitched against hers. (Y/N) struggled in his grasp, her right foot coming down on his. The lights from the ceiling fan burst as (Y/N) landed a punch to his stomach. Anti grunted, side stepping her next swing and pushing up against her, shoving her into the floor. He stood over her, anger written across his face. (Y/N) stood, crouching into a fighting positions, as Anti shoved the couch back against the wall.

“That all you got?”

“You have no idea, Doll.”
