Did you know, that you can make an AWESOME journal for your adventures ALL ON YOUR OWN from a cereal box and paper/scraps that you likely have at home/can get from friends or family/you may find around your environment?
They’re called Junk Journals and they’re my entire life.
Im gonna do my best to walk you through how to make one! First, get you a mini cereal box! I use boxes from those cool multipacks of cereal that you can find at Walmart!
And then cut it out so it looks like this! (I already had one cut, so I’m gonna use that)
That “nutrition facts” side is gone become your spine!
Next, find some paper to use to decorate your cover! I was lucky enough to be gifted a bunch of scrapbooking paper, so I’m gonna use that, but you can also use newspaper, paper from books/magazines, junk mail, napkins, paper towels (excellent texture), etc!
Go ahead and glue that paper to your box (to cover the cereal logo) and cut it out! It’ll look like this;
Next you need to find your pages! Again these can be anything! Junk mail, envelopes, receipts, food wrappers, magazine/book pages, scrapbook paper, computer paper, construction paper, ANYTHING. Just grab a whole bunch!
You’re gonna want to fold them in half and cut them to the size of one of the covers of your box, and layer other pages inside of it to make your signatures, like this!
Each signature should be about 7-10 pages. You don’t want them too thick, otherwise the inner pages start sticking out when folded in half. You’re gonna have a LOT of these signatures, as you wanna fill the area in the spine as best as possible. For this one I’m using 7 page signatures. Here’s a pic to show just how much paper you’ll need
Each of these signatures are 7 pages, 6 signatures have only filled about half of the spine, so I’ll need probably 6 more.
Next you gotta figure out how you want them in your journal. Personally, I like to sew them into the spine, but you can also keep them in the spine with rubber bands, so you can have removable pages! (Be weary that rubber bands may break over time! So you may want to always keep extra bands near it to replace in case one snaps. This is why I prefer sewing them in) I find it best to look up on YouTube how to sew in signatures, just because having someone walk you through it where you can see what they’re doing is easiest. If you can’t access YouTube, there’s plenty of text tutorials on how to sew in signatures online, or you can message me! I’m not gonna go too into detail, but here’s the jist;
Okay so I’m a forgetful gob and I hecken forgot to take pictures as I was going along kahshshshsh
But essentially, I sewed in the pattern similar to the one I drew. The dots are where the needle goes all the way through to the back. I also like to use rubber band as an extra mode of support but you can do one or the other. I also like both cuz I can tuck stuff in em between the pages. Since I didn’t take more pictures; I’d really recommend looking up a how-to on YouTube or w/e if my badly drawn diagram isn’t clear enough (heh sorry about that)
Next, I glue fabric to the spine. It spruces it up quite a lot and holds the rubber bands in place, plus it give more support to the spine since there’s gonna be a lot of strain on it.
Only 10 photos per post, so I gotta post this and reblog it with the rest.

Where was Chief? Why hadn’t he found her yet?
Clara tugged at the tape that held her wrists. Nothing happened. Her wrists stayed pinned to the chair.
What was going to happen next?
When was Tom going to come back?
Did he leave her?
Was she going to die trapped in this room?
Her heart thudded in her chest. She could hear the blood rushing through her head.
What was happening?
She pulled at her wrists harder, but the tape held. Her breathing quickened, as tears started to stream down her face.
What was happening?
“Let me go.” She yelled as loud as she could, but her voice only came out as a small whimper.
She could hear Tom’s footsteps get closer.
He opened the door and stepped into the room. “Stop struggling.“ His voice trailed off.
Clara could feel his eyes on her. She wanted to ask him to help, or to look at him so he could see that she was hurting, but she couldn’t take her eyes off the floor.
“Hey.” He stepped forward and grabbed Clara’s chin. “Hey, it’s going to be ok.”
She took her eyes off the floor and made eye contact with Tom, the tears still streaming down her face.
He reached behind her and undid the tape that held her wrists.
Not knowing what to do she threw her arms around Tom and started crying harder.
“It’s going to be ok,” Tom said hugging her back. “Try focusing on your breathing.”
Clara closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
“Good. Now keep doing that.” Tom bent down and cradled her in his arms.
She could feel them walking through the house until he set her down on something soft.
Opening her eyes, she saw Tom pull a large blanket over her.
“How are you feeling?” he asked tucking the blanket under her chin.
Tears still streaming down her face Clara croaked “I-I don’t know.”
“It will be ok. I have had attacks like this before. Just try to sleep, and I will start making some food.”
Clara nodded and rolled onto her side. “Why are you helping me?” She muttered quietly.
Tom froze in the doorway.
“I don’t want to hurt you. I don’t care if you believe me or not, but I don’t.”
“Why did you kidnap me then?” she asked, rolling to face him.
He sighed leaning against the door frame.
“I thought it was the right thing to do.”
“I don’t believe that.”
“You don’t have to.” He said gritting his teeth.
“You said you wanted to make Chief pay.”
“Like I said before, he left me behind. I want to teach him a lesson so he’ll never do that again.”
Her heart started to beat faster, and Clara sat up, staring at Tom. “Again, I don’t believe you. Chief would never leave someone behind.”
Tom pushed away from the wall. “You don’t know him like I did, and like I’ve said a hundred times, I don’t care if you believe me. Now lay down, and I will make some food.”
She stared at him as her heartbeat drummed in her ears. Tears sprung up behind her eyes.
Tom stepped forward pushing her down onto the bed again. “Keep breathing. I’m sorry that I got mad. Try and sleep and we can talk about it later.”
Clara glared but closed her eyes.
Thoughts swam around her brain.
Why did Tom hate Chief?
What had Chief done to him?
Where was Chief?
Was he going to save her?
Through her thoughts she could hear Tom leave the room, closing the door behind him.
Clara decided to sleep first and worry about questions later. She rolled back on her side and drifted off to sleep.
So that was an interesting 4 minutes of a staring contest
What I liked about it was the subtlety, cuz we’re used to somewhat spotable things right? But This was all character and expression work
I mean look at this
That change from kinda nice, a small twitch and then we have a not so nice boi looking at us. If that’s not amazing idk what it.
Cuz nothing indicated a change in character apart from that twitch. And like clockwork we immediately knew what was going on, at this point were trained to know on sight what’s going on.
And his words to us, telling us we HAVE to know what happens, WE have to watch to the end. Not because he wants us to, but because we need to see what happens. He’s got us figured out too, and that means we ain’t in control like we think.
We may think we are, but then again if a puppet can’t see the strings it wouldn’t know it was a puppet…
Civilian pulled out their binoculars and searched for Villain on the street. They were perched on a building high above the city.
"Why did you save me?" Civilian whispered looking down at their notebook. They had cut out multiple newspaper articles about Villain. They were all about the fires and robberies that they had caused. So why did they save me?
Civilian sighed and looked through their binoculars again. They scanned the street. Wasn't Villain right there a second ago? Where did they go?
Someone cleared their throat behind them. Civilian jumped and their binoculars went flying.
"Seems I've got a stalker." Villain said picking up the binoculars.
"No... I... I..." Civilian backed away from Villain.
Villain smiled at them. "Why would you be spying on me?"
Civilian looked around nervously and spotted their notebook. Villain followed their gaze and swept their notebook up.
"I'm sorry. Please don't..."
Villain held up their hand and Civilian stopped. "You're wondering why I'm such a bad person."
Civilian shook their head.
Villain huffed. "I'm not as bad as these papers say. Take a look."
They handed the notebook back to Civilian.
"Did anyone die in any of those stories?"
Civilian looked through the newspaper articles. Not one of them had any casualties.
"All of those things I did, I did in abandoned buildings. I only had to intervene once because..." Villain snapped their attention to Civilian. "Someone was in the wrong place at the wrong time."
Civilian squeaked and moved backwards.
"Why were you there?" Villain asked moving forward.
"I... I..."
Villain grabbed Civilian's arm.
"I wanted to see if it was actually you. You move too quickly for it to just be you doing all of this. I wanted to make sure that the blame wasn't being put entirely on you."
Villain smiled. "It's all me." They picked up Civilian under the legs and around the waist in a bridal carry. Flying high the wind canceled out Civilian's screams. Civilian grabbed at Villain and buried their face in their chest.
Villain stopped and hovered. They laughed and looked down at Civilian. Civilian shook and clung to Villain's shirt.
"You know you're the only one who has actually tried to figure out why I'm doing what I'm doing. No one else cares."
Civilian peeked up at Villain. "Thanks for saving my life." They squeaked.
Villain chuckled. "You're welcome. Do you want to see the view? I promise I won't drop you."
Civilian shook their head.
"Come on. It's beautiful."
Civilian turned their head slowly. Their grip loosened and they smiled down at the city. "It is beautiful."
Villain smiled and stared at Civilian's profile. "It sure is."
They dropped down slowly getting back to the rooftop. Civilian let go of Villain's shirt as they set them down.
"I promise I won't get in the way of your antics anymore." They said turning and scooping up their notebook.
Villain smiled. "But if you do I promise to save you. You're too cute."
Civilian turned as Villain took off.
Hero walked through the mall stopping at a store looking at the window display. Someone grabbed their hand and pulled them away from the display.
"Someone is following you. I'll pretend to be your boyfriend so they'll leave you alone."
Hero's heart sank. They recognized that voice. They tried pulling their hand from Villain's, but Villain pulled them closer and draped their arm around them.
"Don't fight against me. We need to pretend we are dating." Villain whispered in Hero's ear.
"No one is following me. Let me go." Hero turned to face Villain. Villain looked down at them.
"Babe, you're acting hangry do we need to go get some Cinnabon for you." They leaned closer. "Can we please not act like enemies here. Let's just be friends before we try to rip eachothers heads off tonight."
Hero glared at them. "I am hungry. Cinnabon sounds good." They said through gritted teeth. They poked Villain in the chest. "But you're paying."

The Principal had kept his promise. He had tried to break Liv every moment he could.
But she wasn’t going to let him.
It had been days of tests. From being left alone to being followed every second of the day, from climbing to fighting. He wasn’t letting anything stop him.
To be honest, it was wearing on her.
Maybe if I just give in it will all be over. She thought to herself.
She shook her head and pushed the thought aside. She would never let him win.
Her door clicked open, and two guards entered the room. Class time. She held out her wrists, and they clamped the shackles around them. They all walked down the hallway.
She thought they were heading towards the gym when they started going a different way.
“Where are we going?” She asked, turning to the guard on her left.
Both guards stayed silent as they kept walking through the facility.
They went up two flights of stairs before arriving in front of a door. The guard on her right opened the door and pushed her inside.
Liv stumbled and found herself face to face with the Principal.
He smiled at her and unlocked her shackles. “Welcome to your test.”
Liv rubbed her wrists as she glared at him.
“Where am I?”
“You don’t recognize this place?”
Liv looked around the room and noticed that they were standing on a catwalk above the gym, but something was off. She moved to the edge of the catwalk and looked down.
The Principal walked behind her and put his hand on her shoulder. “Do you like the changes?”
Liv just stared. The entire room was filled with water. The two-story gym filled with water. Her heart started to race.
She tried to back up, but The Principal grabbed her by the shoulders and kept her in place.
“Interesting.” He pushed her closer to the edge. “It seems that our brave student is scared of water.”
“I-I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Her voice sounded shakier than she wanted.
Her heart started to beat out of her chest, as she stared at the water.
The Principal took a step back. “Then show me. Jump in and swim to the bottom. If you don’t,” he let out a quiet laugh, “then you have to promise to trust me. Just like Conner does.”
Liv turned and glared at him. He just smiled and motioned to the water. She turned back around.
Come on. I can do this. She thought to herself.
But she just stood there. She couldn’t get herself to move. She wanted to turn and run, but her legs wouldn’t let her. So she just stood there, staring at the water.
Why can’t I do this? She could have blamed it on the multiple tests or the sleep deprivation, but she knew it was fear.
Tears started to form in her eyes. She tried to wipe them away, but her arms wouldn’t move. She just stood there for what felt like an hour, until the Principal grabbed her shoulders and pulled her away from the edge.
“You can’t do it.” He said trying to hide his smile. “That means you have to promise that you will trust me.”
The exhaustion set in, and Liv didn’t want to fight it anymore.
“I promise.” She said looking down at her feet.
The Principal grabbed her chin and forced her to look at him.
“Promise what?” He had stopped trying to hide his smile.
Liv tried to look away, but his grip just tightened.
Too tired to fight she looked right at him, “I promise to trust you.”
He smiled and let go of her chin. He motioned to one of the guards standing by the door, and they put the shackles back on her wrists.
Feeling broken she let them guide her back to her cell as tears streamed down her face.
This is on my side blog, and it is from my WIP. Enjoy!!!
This is an excerpt from my WIP. I'm not close to finishing it, but I'm in love with it. This is one of my favorite scenes I've written.
The characters are:
Erin: the narrator. Spitfire. Doesn't like being told what to do.
Damian: her team lead. Raised rich and is seen in the news as a playboy.
Hazel: Damian’s right hand. Has super speed.
Drake: the shape shifter of the group
There are many others, but those are the ones important for this scene.
Enjoy!!!
‐---------------‐------------------------------
"Don’t you dare go easy on me.” Damian said pointing at me.
“Wouldn’t dream of it.”
We circled each other. He stepped forward aiming for my ribs. I jumped to the side and aimed for his chin. My fist made contact pushing him to the side.
“You’re not angry today.” He said holding his jaw.
I glared at him. He jumped forward fast, and his fist connected with my side. I stepped to the right and brought my fist towards his stomach. He caught my wrist and held it tight.
“I like it better when you fight angry.”
I tried pulling my fist from his grip. No luck.
“There usually isn’t this much talking during a fight." I paused. "I heard you almost took Drake’s head off. Why are you so angry?”
He pulled me closer to him until we were inches from each other. “He couldn’t have fought me. I needed someone who could.”
I pushed away from him. He kept ahold of my wrist. “You didn’t answer my question. Why are you so angry?”
He let my wrist go. I stepped back raising my fists. He looked me up and down. He swung at me. I grabbed his wrist and punched him in his stomach. He staggered back.
“No one has talked to me the way you did last night.” He said softly.
I glared at him. “So you’re pissed at me?”
He lowered his fists. “I just need you to do what I say. I’m your leader. Is that so hard to understand?”
I huffed and crossed my arms. “No, it’s not, but you’re not doing it right.”
He glared at me. “Why do you think that you can say something like that to me?”
“Because you’re my group leader, and a good leader would listen to their members. Is that so hard to understand?” I mimicked his voice.
He stepped towards me. I glared at him and stepped towards him. A blur rushed past me. Hazel appeared between us.
She had her hands up pushing both of us back. “OK. OK. Let’s take a deep breath. I think you guys need a break.”
I huffed and turned to the elevator. I pressed the button.
“Hey street rat, try listening next time.”
I turned fast. Damian had crossed his arms and was staring daggers at me. Hazel was looking between us. I started walking towards him.
“Listen here you ass…”
A blur came towards me and swept me off my feet. I closed my eyes. When I opened them, I was sitting on the floor of the elevator. Hazel was pacing back and forth.
“Well that went well.” I said standing and folding my arms.
She stopped and looked at me. She let out a long breath. “Why can’t you guys just get along?”
“Because he’s wrong and I’m sure you know that too.”
She sighed. “Its not my job to tell him if he’s wrong.”
“Yes it is. You’re his right hand. It’s in your job description.”
The elevator dinged.

Part 1
Sophia sat huddled in the corner of her cell.
After Ray had beat her up the guards came back in and let her down from the chains. Then there were the interrogations, or rather Ray would come in every few hours and ask the same question.
Where is Evan?
Sophia wrapped her arms around her legs, pulling them closer to her body. She rested her head on her knees and almost drifted off to sleep when she heard the lock click.
Keeping her head on her knees, she could hear footsteps walking towards her. She felt a rough hand grab her hair and pull her to her feet.
Sophia started clawing at his hand as she made eye contact with Ray.
“Are you going to ask me where Evan is again?” Sophia said wincing.
“Are you going to tell me where he is?”
Sophia stared back at him. “Why do you need to know? Why can’t you just let us live in peace?”
He pulled up harder, and Sophia winced. “Because as long as he is alive, he could take everything away from me. And I am not going to let that happen.”
“Like you did to him?” she continued clawing at his hand.
His grip tightened, and he pulled up harder.
“He didn’t deserve any of this. He was just a kid when his parents died, and he would have ruined everything if he had taken over.”
“So you turned his family against him. He had just lost his parents, and you took away his support system.”
Ray let go of her hair and turned away from her. “He did that to himself. No one else trusted him. I was doing them a favor.”
“You were just doing what would benefit you. You don’t care about anyone, but yourself.”
He turned back and glared at her.
“Where is Evan?”
“I don’t know if you have realized this, but I won’t tell you where he is.”
Ray turned, grabbing her arm and pulled her close. “I don’t think you realize that you will. Just give me a few more days.”
He pushed her back, and she fell back into the corner.
“Think about that. I’ll see you tomorrow.” He flashed her a large grin and slammed the door behind him.
