the transition im crying
Y’ever read something and have understanding that has eluded you interminably suddenly stop, curl up, and snuggle neatly into a fold in your brain because a new way way opened to it?
when i first started spy x family, i told myself i wouldn't like twiyor eden AUs, but here i am eating my words because, yes, i do have an entire twiyor eden au mapped out in my head and i'm gonna share it with you now
this is gonna be long so strap in folks
i'll start with a few brief character backgrounds (there are some changes to the canon universe for context)
loid forger:
his home life isn't great (he has a wonderful relationship with his mom, but his dad is a different story. his parents are basically always on the brink of a divorce)
as a kid, he goes to a regular public school and has 3 really close friends
around the age of 9, he manages to get transferred to eden because of his academic excellence
he doesn't really want to change schools since he doesn't want to leave his friends, but his family is kinda counting on him and he feels a sort of pressure to succeed (especially from his dad) so he ends up agreeing to go
he ends up living in the dorms at eden since his home is far away from the school
the first friend he makes is franky who has been going to eden since first year (they also live in the dorms together)
the second friend is fiona
loid really likes fiona as a friend but he's well aware fiona's always wanted more from their friendship
by the age of 17, loid officially becomes an imperial scholar with 0 tonitrus bolts (he nearly got 1 when he and franky almost got caught smoking a cigarette on school grounds when they were like 15)
fiona frost:
her backstory isn't really relevant for this au but i have a few important notes
she's been in love with him for years, very much unreciprocated
she's honestly convinced they'll end up together one day
loid truly cares about her as a friend and they would be closer if the whole "being in love with him" thing wasn't there
she's on eden's tennis team
fiona becomes an imperial scholar shortly after loid, making her the second student in their year
yor briar:
she's a year younger than loid, fiona, and franky
her parents are alive, but they're fairly neglectful. she raises yuri pretty much on her own. (kinda like the desmonds in canon)
she's gone to eden since first year
she commutes to school - she lives at home with yuri (who also goes to eden)
she's not very good at school academically (she's not necessarily bad either, just a little bellow average in most subjects), but she excels in athletics
that being said, yor is surprisingly good at biology
she's on eden's volleyball, tennis, and track teams
she has 1 stella and 3 tonitrus bolts
yor and loid's first meeting:
loid is 15, yor is 14
fiona has a tennis match that day and practically begs loid to come watch (it's a regular occurrence for franky and loid to go her games. fiona never invites franky, loid simply drags him along as a third wheel so fiona can't make any moves on him.)
loid and franky are sat in the stands while both teams are warming up before the game
franky is rambling on about some girl he fell in love with after 2 seconds of meeting her, and loid is half listening, until he sees her
he's not sure why or how he hasn't seen her at fiona's tennis matches before, but suddenly now that he has seen her, he can't bring himself to look away
she's standing mostly by herself on the court, stretching her arms behind her head
her hair is long and black, tied up in a neat ponytail with her black bangs covering her forehead. she has a white headband on, sitting just behind the point of her head where her bangs begin
and loid is just so incredibly wonderstruck
he's never even had a crush on a girl before, never saw himself wanting a relationship
but suddenly he just feels so captivated by this one girl and how pretty she looks
franky realizes loid has stopped listening to his rambling and says
“hey, i’m talking he— wait, what are you doing?”
so he follows the direction loid is looking, smiles to himself and teases
“ooooo loid has the hots for a girl. this is a first”
loid blushes, shoves franky a little, and replies
"absolutely not, no, i don't"
loid can't help but take one last glance over to the mystery girl only to find her looking in their general direction
to which loid flinches and hides his face because that's embarrassing and he feels like he's being a creep (he's not, he's maybe looked at her for a total of 2 minutes)
"shit, she saw me"
and franky grins impossibly wide and says
"so their is a girl"
franky tries to interrogate him for more information but luck is on loid's side because the game starts and he uses that as an excuse not to answer
yor and loid (actual first meeting):
they don't officially meet until a few weeks after the tennis match
loid hasn't seen her since (and trust me, he's been checking in the hallways) and he's honestly started to forget about the whole thing
until one day, he heads to the local tailor shop to pic up his new eden uniform since he outgrew his old one (he had a bit of a growth spurt)
he hears the little bell on the door of the shop, but he doesn't think anything of it, he just continues to wait to finish up his shopping
he hears the soft footsteps of the person that entered the store followed by the most beautiful, gentle voice
he permits himself a quick glance and he nearly drops his jaw in shock because it's her. the girl from the tennis match
her hair is down this time and she'd wearing a red sweater, but it's definitely her
loid quickly looks away and lets her speak to the shop owner to handle whatever it is she needs to do
it isn't until mystery pretty girl looks at loid, gasps, and asks
"you go to eden?!"
loid is very confused at first but realizes it's because he's holding his uniform in his arm
he feels the blood rush to his cheek because he was absolutely not prepared to talk to her ever, let alone right nOW
but he manages to say
"yeah, uh- i do! yes, eden academy. do- do you?"
and she smiles with her lips pressed together and nods
"i'm in 9th year"
loid can't help but feel a little upset about that, but he replies anyways
"i'm in 10th year"
he notices she also looks a little upset about that, but he doesn't let himself think too much of it
she says
"oh... well, i suppose that's why we've never met before."
he laughs, a little awkwardly, and lets out a little, "yeah..."
"i'm yor briar, by the way"
he replies with a simple "loid forger"
"i've got to get going, i have to watch my little brother, but it was really lovely meeting you loid"
and something about the way she says his name makes his heart flutter
he's down horrendous
but he smiles and tells how it was lovely meeting her too before they share goodbyes
becoming friends:
the next time loid and yor see one another, it's at another one of fiona's tennis matches
it's after the game, loid and franky are waiting for fiona to finish getting changed and ready to head back to the dorms when they hear someone say
"loid! is that you?"
both he and franky turn, and of course, there's yor waving at him
he practically beams when he sees her
she has her hair up, her bangs are sticking to her forehead a little from sweat, her cheeks are flushed, but she still looks so pretty
they catch up a bit - yor asks why he's at the game, loid tells her that he's friends with fiona
the next time they see each other it's at one of her volleyball games (franky's most recent crush is on the team, hence loid being dragged along as a wingman)
it becomes a regular thing for loid and yor. saying hi whenever they see each other around campus, making excuses to talk
they really start getting to know one another over the next few months
these chance meetings turn into planned hang outs between classes and at lunch. which eventually turn into yor asking loid to tutor her in subjects she's not doing well in, and loid saying yes before she can even finish asking
by the time the school year is over, they've truly become really good friends
the pining stage:
it's later on in the school year, loid is 16 turning 17 and yor is 15 turning 16
at this point they've been been friends for about a year and a half, almost 2
they've both developed crushes on each other at this point, but neither of them are willing to make a move (or even acknowledge their feelings tbh)
yor tells loid about a party that's happening on campus in one of the dorms (camilla, a girl in her grade, said so)
loid doesn't really want to go, but yor convinces him to go with her
"i didn't know how to tell her no so i told camilla i was going!!! i can't go by myself loid, i need you to come with me"
and loid can't say no to that
so loid, yor, franky and fiona all end up at some upper year students dorm party
and somehow they get dragged into 7 minutes in heaven
specifically, yor and loid get shoved into a closet with very little personal space
(franky rigged this. he was tired of their pining. fiona was furious.)
yor is thankful it's too dark for loid to see how blushed she is
loid is thankful it's too dark for yor to see how flustered he is
after a little fumbling, they settle into a position that's not too uncomfortable, but still very close together
yor says softly,
"i- um. i think they're expecting us to..."
"yeah... but we don't- we don't have to do- do that."
"yeah..."
they're quiet for a little bit, maybe a minute or so until yor says,
"i'm sorry, loid"
"sorry? what do you mean?"
and yor tucks her hair behind her ear and tells him,
"for all of this. i'm the one who dragged you to this party in the first place. and now- now we're here. shoved in some tiny, 17 year old boy's closet. you're probably humiliated."
"yor, i could never be humiliated by being with you. i-i mean- because of you, by being associated with you. you're my best friend"
"franky is your best friend. fiona too."
"they're different. franky and fiona, they're like family in a way. like siblings or cousins to me since i don't have any. all three of you may be my best friends, but you? you're my favourite friend."
and even though loid can't see her in the dark, yor is smiling
she bites her lip to stop herself from grinning too wide
she shifts and accidently presses herself further into loid, forgetting how close they were standing
yor pulls back just as quickly, but she replies so lovingly
"you're my favourite friend too, loid"
and maybe, just maybe if franky hadn't opened the closet door right in that moment, perhaps something would've happened between them that night
but nothing happens. no secrets are revealed. not yet.
twiyor become twiyor:
it's the next school year
loid's in year 12
yor's in year 11
loid is 17, yor is 16
they're hanging out in loid's dorm since franky is out
meaning it's just the two of them
somehow the topic shifts to fiona
specifically loid ranting about how fiona won't drop the whole "someday we'll get married" thing
he's telling yor about how much he adores fiona and wants her in his life, but it's so difficult that she won't respect his feelings
loid has talked about this with yor before, so it's not anything new
but yor says,
"why haven't you dated fiona?"
and that certainly shocks loid
he looks puzzled for a second
yor continues,
"i know you've never had feelings for her, i know objectively that's why you've never dated her, but i don't understand why you haven't had feelings for her"
loid still stays silent because,,,, what
yor elaborates,
"fiona is... well, fiona. she's extremely intelligent, talented, driven, ambitious. she's funny and loyal - not to mention beautiful. i mean, why not fiona? she seems like she'd be the perfect partner."
yor looks up from where she's been staring in her lap, playing with her fingers
and the look on loid's face is hard to read
he looks somewhere between mad and confused and shocked and heartbroken
she's never seen him look like that before
yor goes to apologize for saying anything, but loid speaks first
his voice comes out soft, almost a breath
"you really have no idea, do you?"
it's yor's turned to look confused because what on earth does that mean
"no idea about what?"
loid shifts on his bed, sitting up straighter and facing yor fully
"you're right. fiona is loyal and fierce and ambitious and beautiful and talented. she's been one of my closest friends for nearly 8 years. i know how lucky anyone would be to be with her. she'll make a wonderful girlfriend to somebody someday."
and loid pauses
he swallows the lump in his throat
and when he speaks again, his voice nearly breaks
"but yor, she's not you."
and yor swears her heart stops beating for a moment
she's convinced she's heard him wrong because there's no way that the loid forger, her best friend that she'd been in love with for the better part of nearly 3 years, is saying what she thinks he's saying
"i've never loved fiona in that way because fiona isn't you. and- and all this time, i've forced myself to hide it because i was so, so incredibly scared that if i confessed, i'd ruin our-"
and loid can't finish his sentence because suddenly her hands are gripping his shirt and her lips are on his and he feels like he can't breathe but also like he's taking the biggest gasp of air
he steadies his mind by focusing on the feeling of her lips
how soft and perfectly plump they are
she pulls back too soon for his liking
her cheeks are red, matching her irises, and her lips are parted in awe like she can't believe she just did that
"i-"
before she can finish, loid has her back pressed into his mattress, he's settled so lightly between her thighs because he's scared to squish her
and he's kissing her
he's kissing yor briar
her fingers delicately touch his jaw as they kiss, but she quickly repositions so they're tangling in his golden hair
they only part once they're out of breath
and they just grin so widely at each other
loid breathes out
"you don't know how long i've wanted to do that"
and yor bites her lip, brushes her nose against the tip of his
hums a soft
"i think i do"
and tilts her chin back up to reconnect their lips

there's a guy at my school who uses to harrass me a lot and it used to really damage my mental health, but he stopped and i'm okay now but he's started doing it again and it's actually hilarious
he'll be walking and talking with his friends and he'll see me, stop for a second, look really excited and full of himself and wait for me pass by him and say, in the most i'm-so-proud-of-myself tone you've ever heard:
Hi [DEADNAME]!!!
it's actually so funny because i just ignore him but he looks like a puppy getting told he's a good boy. 10/10 top tier comedy makes me laugh every time

hi! here’s a list of almost every single anaysis Thing I’ve come across in like two months of being insane about the scottish play. Most are about lady macbeth/the gender theme btw.
‘He has no children’: The centring of grief in The Show Must Go Online’s Macbeth - Gemma Allred: on the misogyny that frequently surrounds conversations around Lady Macbeth
this post by @amillionmillionvoices: Same topic as the previous one, but goes more in depth, explains ladymac’s motivations as mostly coming from love not self-serving ambition.
this post by @dukeofbookingham: also explains the prior point very prettily— that ladymac is (mostly) motivated by love, but also makes the case that many of it is guilt born from not fulfilling societal expectations
On the character of Lady Macbeth - Dr. Emil Pfundheler: paper that explains the same point made in the previous post, using the text to explain. Written in 1873 so explains gender as a dichotomy, but once you take that out, its points are very good.
Characteristics of women: moral, political, and historical - Anna Jameson: aka Why Lady Macbeth is not inherently evil— same topic and the other two, but focuses a bit on the fact that she is A Woman. Not my favorite, but worth reading I suppose. Also includes analyses of many female Shakespeare characters. It does include some very bad history in the beginning— Gruoch did not orchestrate Duncan’s murder. That’s something Hector Boece made up.
Lady Macbeth: “Infirm of purpose” (from The Woman’s Part: Feminist Criticism of Shakespeare) - Joan Larsen Klein: on how she both fits and doesn’t fit the idea of a reinassance wife— doesn’t fit because she isn’t aligned to god (this read more like a Christian analysis than a feminist one if I’m being honest), but fits them because she behaves like one, only subverts them because she’s like, the evil murder girl version of the Wife. The essay right after this one is also very good.
The Hysteria of Lady Macbeth: required reading if you wanna play her Btw not kidding. Analyzes her character thru the lens of freudian psychology. Screws up the text of the play a bit but provides an actual in-depth explanation of how sonnambulism works. Note that “hysteria” is not a current psychological diagnosis, but a symptom of other conditions. Still extremely interesting.
The Macbeths - G. K. Chesterton: analysis of their relationship, makes some interesting point on the differences of the nature of their ambition and desire to kill the king
Shakespeare’s tragic frontier; the world of his final tragedies - Willard Farnham: this one is long but oh boy does it go deep. Talks about the lore of the witches, explains historical context to find out how the real events were so screwed up, makes an interesting point about Macbeth’s conscience against Lady Macbeth’s, and lastly talks about the tragic world of Macbeth compared to other tragedies.
Women’s fantasy of manhood: a Shakespearean theme - D. W. Harding: exactly what it says on the tin, using ladymac and her skewed (and I’d call romanticized) idea of what a man is that she pushes on Macbeth. So yeah, talks about the gender theme. Also talks about Goneril from Lear, Cleopatra, and Volumnia from Coriolanus and how they fit the theme— although ladymac is the only one who goes downhill from it.
Unnatural women in William Shakespeare’s Macbeth - Elizabeth Klett: I’ll be honest I didn’t love this one a lot. Basically talks about how every woman in Macbeth defies gender roles. Doesn’t go too deep however. But the book has a ton of essays analyzing female characters in classic lit.
Pretty boy
