Cyberform AU

Cyberform AU

I love the different take on human characters in the Transformers fandom (from any universe). But what I've noticed is that a lot of people skirt around the G1 thing. You know? Most of the cyberformation fanfics are either TFP (mostly them, because Sari from Animated doesn't need it). Gen 1 has some amazing characters who are smart and brave and get into equally dangerous situations. I have an AU where people become Cybertronians, so I decided to expand on that. (I drew Chip Chase and Danial, so why not?)

I definitely find the idea of putting my AU together a good one. I don't like the idea of cyberformed people being alone in their universes (literally small groups, two or three bots, sounds terribly sad). I'll probably write my thoughts about this AU here from time to time. (I also have old drawings from 2018) Maybe there will be some art here, but I'm not sure I'm in the terrible art block right now.

This AU doesn't have a name, so let's call it Cyberform AU?

Someone I talked to a while ago told me that my character (Soundtrack/ST/Sota) looks like a hellish mix of Prowl and Impactor. Then I asked my friend (@arenorsblog) if that was true, because he has the opportunity to follow the process of drawing the art-reference and get stories from me about her (I really wish I could tell more, but I'm finishing exam season and I want to finish the art with her). Well, this is the answer I got…

Someone I Talked To A While Ago Told Me That My Character (Soundtrack/ST/Sota) Looks Like A Hellish Mix
Someone I Talked To A While Ago Told Me That My Character (Soundtrack/ST/Sota) Looks Like A Hellish Mix

Well, these thoughts haven't left my stupid head for a while. So now my character will really be a fankid of this strange combination. Not that it will affect her story much (only her origin), she is quite independent. Nevertheless, it slightly justifies some of my ideas (thanks). Well, happy day of my first fankid.

Anyone who tells me that's impossible, just think… JUST THINK! Impactor does stuff for Prowl all the time, so there's probably some dynamic there. (Joke about adding to Prowl's ex list…. Oh shit, so she's Springer's sister)

My friend spelled Rung's name wrong ahahaha😂

How do you define consent?

Hi Anon! So let's give a little warning before I tell you, because I don't want you to misunderstand me or think that I approve of some dubious things. Okay? Okay!

Warning: Dubious consent is not consent, okay? If you ask a person indirectly and he gives indirect consent, it is not consent. This is bad. You shouldn't do this. Consent should be given to a normal question. Direct question, direct answer. (If you are communicating with a person from another country, then before agreeing to something, clarify what he means. Because the person himself may not understand that his ordinary question in his culture means one thing and in yours another, this is normal, we are different).

In fact, I think that we humans and Cybertronians most likely have a striking cultural difference (Before arriving on Earth, they didn't even have a concept of gender, guys, what is understandable to us is obviously not understandable to them. And their cultural characteristics are incomprehensible to us, for example, discrimination by body type and function). That is why the topic of consent to cyberformation is extremely, well, complex.

What exactly is the problem with consent to Cyberformation. Rather, it is that when the Cybertronians first arrived on Earth, no one thought that they had a completely different culture. Well, more precisely, people thought about it, but not as much as they should have. The Autobots communicated and communicated well with people, were extremely polite whenever possible and cautious with earthlings. This created the impression that they had the same cultural norms as we do on Earth, this misconception was a mistake. Cybertronians have their own language, holidays, customs and other elements of a developed culture, so everyone seemed to have slightly forgotten that they were still aliens. This is not bad, it's just that this difference in culture was absolutely important for understanding. (We have a situation among different cultures where during communication we can say something that is common for one people, but unfamiliar to another. For this, we need to understand and study other cultures in order to avoid embarrassment).

When Cybertronians want to cyberform a person, they just have a normal conversation. There is no strange atmosphere, just a casual conversation during which there may be questions like “Would you like to explore outer space? / Would you like to protect your home planet? / Would you like us to be friends forever? / Would you like to see other planets?” and so on and so forth. The question can be anything, mostly from the area of what interests the person. Naturally, the person will most likely answer yes to such a question, and the Cybertronians perceive this as consent. Understand? For them, this is not a dubious consent, but simply “Yes”. This is just a normal conversation, so in essence, there is an embarrassment of misunderstanding between the person and the Cybertronian. Perhaps it is also precisely in linguistics, the language and sentence structure in Cybertronian can differ. This is precisely why there are not many “bad” reactions to cyberforming, they still exist yes. But I think it is difficult to be angry with someone when you both understand that there was a misunderstanding and confusion.

I hope you understand me. Cybertronians will not intentionally cyberform you if they refuse their question. For illustration purposes, there is a character in my AU who was not cyberformed because he gave a direct refusal.

Captain Carmine Fanzone, he worked with the Autobots and especially Prowl for a long time. He is an excellent policeman, loyal, although his attitude was still very specific, but he believed that the Autobots had good intentions (which was confirmed more than once). Captain Fanzone as an agent, monitored the Autobots' missions near cities to avoid attacks by Decepticons on civilians and to avoid traffic jams and reduce casualties to a minimum. Prowl considered him quite outstanding and his loyalty to his cause was respected by him. I think Fanzone and Prowl got along well, so when the topic of "Would Fenzone like to protect everyone" was raised in an everyday conversation, he answered that he did not. Fenzone simply explained that it was physically impossible to protect everyone and that he was simply doing everything in his power to help his people and those who trusted him. Prowl took it calmly and then did not ask such questions anymore, having received a refusal, he simply accepted someone else's choice and respected his decision to remain human and protect others. He didn't try to convince him that "if only there was such a possibility." Prowl simply knows that these words were a lie (even Cybertronians are not capable of protecting everyone, as a senior officer he knows this better than anyone).

Well, I hope you understand me correctly and my answer will satisfy you. Thank you for this question, it was really difficult. The topic is extremely difficult because, I hope I managed to convey my idea!

The leadership structure of the Seekers

The Winglord theme is actually so interesting in itself. I like that most people in the fandom somehow unanimously decided that such a position exists, and it makes sense since the cities on Cybertron are city-states, meaning they have a local ruler/government and other structures.

On the other hand, it seems to me that Winglord should not only be a position of power, but also full of obligations. What is Winglord for? (Obviously, for governance, but its position cannot be just a privilege). What obligations can this position bear for the one who occupies this position. Here are my couple of ideas.

It seems to me that the Seekers' leadership structure is actually arranged like that of birds. Birds in nature do not actually have a leader. This concept simply goes to the oldest and most experienced birds, who stand at the head of the wedge. It is no secret that humanity, in its desire to conquer the skies, focused on birds, but what if Cybertronians do it differently? What if, in fact, Winglord is not a title earned by birth or inheritance like the same kings, but a title given to the most experienced flyer among all? Sounds good, plus it would explain why Starscream takes this place.

A Winglord is not a title that can be inherited, it is a calling that a true ace of his craft receives, anyone, be it forged or constructed, can receive it, age also plays no role. There is no luck or fortune in the sky, only cold calculation and the risk that the pilot is willing to take. In the process, you either succeed or die, there is no other way from it. A Winglord is a master of his craft, any noble king or general he will displace from their position with his skill. His task is to teach young seekers to reach their level of skill, as well as to provide weaker brothers with safety. If you give a Winglord a choice between his brothers and an imaginary leader (usually a bot, not necessarily having a flying altform), then he will choose his brothers. The duty of a Winglord is to care for the well-being of everyone, regardless of social status or work. If the previous Winglord dies, his fellow triads must take it upon themselves to finish his work, keeping the Seeker community safe and in order until a new bot can be chosen to take his place. Like birds in a flock, the Winglord and his fellow triads must lead their charges to a better future. (They do not have to be ready for this, as leadership can never be. Experience in leading others always comes with experience.)

I would compare Winglord to a person who received the flame of Prometheus for the first time. It is not only a blessing, but also the greatest duty to distribute this flame to everyone. An obligation that does not allow you to chicken out and retreat. I think Winglord's obligations consist mainly of preserving the number of seekers, he cannot allow even the weak to die, since this is a risk of losing the chance for the development of their society, losing the much-needed and vital primacy in the sky (flight is life). It can also be a vision of treaties, about better supplies, in exchange for the energon they found, they could set their own conditions (perhaps one of these conditions once became the city of Vos, because having your own city/settlement, you could avoid discrimination). The amount of obligations may vary depending on the political situation of Cybertron (I think during the golden age or pre-war period, Winglord was a status similar to King and was inherited because it greatly limited the seeker society, focusing them not on mastery but on the "military" path. This was a guarantee of stability, although it could cause unrest in the seeker society).

Many write that Starscream Winglord, probably during the war that we see in the comics, this is indeed true. Vos fell, the wonderful city in the "heavens" was destroyed, like other cities. There is a possibility that many senior Seekers who were there could have died. Starscream has always been ambitious, but as much as he craves leadership, he is also a master in flying (let's not deny it, after all, he hardly got his position only because of the "Beautiful Scarlet Optics"). Starscream not only could, but probably was a good leader for his comrades. He was definitely not ideal, but he learned this gradually gaining experience. Starscream has all the good qualities of a leader: charisma, intelligence, oratory skills. It probably also kept him in the position of Winglord for a long time, and also this management experience helped him become a good leader after the war (and although this is debatable, but I consider him a better leader than Windblade. He knew what problems Cybertronian society could face after such a long war. About those problems that preceded the war. He knew what he was managing, that he had the best potential… Honestly, this makes him even more tragic in my eyes)

Winglord is a duty to move society forward and take care of it, a guarantee of progress. Stagnation for this status means loss of independence for all seekers.

☆Meet the OC: HoneySota☆

Warning: In this post I use the art of my OC, which my wonderful friend made for me (I drew it myself quite a long time ago, my friend's art is also quite old, maybe there will be new ones too, since I slightly changed his story).

☆Meet The OC: HoneySota☆
☆Meet The OC: HoneySota☆

HoneySota is an Insecticon of the Actias luna type, although it shares traits with a couple of other moth species. It originated on Cybertron and in its "young" years was found in one of the Insecticon colonies beneath the planet's surface.

Hive "Prosperitatis" (from Latin "Prosperity") - was located under Altihex/Uraya (Mostly in Altihex, but one side of the hive was on the border with Uraya). It was quite old by Insecticon standards, but not the largest. It existed back in the heyday of gladiator fights and the unification of tribes, so in the archives of Iacon and various historical datapads there is evidence of rare Insecticon scouts. The small size, strict control over the number of colonies helped this hive to remain unnoticed in the optics of other Cybertronians for a long time. Rare clashes were considered just an accident. The Hive Queen was a proponent of the fact that Insecticons should mind their own business and not interfere with the politics of growing industrialization (I know that you may have questions, but I have my own headcanons for Insecticons). She had little interest in what was happening on the surface, and was indifferent when one or two warriors from her swarm disappeared, simply saying that she would create new ones or that it was easier to remain unnoticed. The passive policy and general disinterest of the Queen, in fact, led to the gradual violation of territorial boundaries and the withering of the Hive. It was exterminated by the functionalist rule and many of HoneySota's kindred became simply hunted "beasts" for the gladiators in Kaon.

As part of "Prosperitatis", HoneySota was a scout, with a moth-like form and an extremely mobile frame similar enough to a normal Cybertronian for surface missions, he was versatile (aside from the obvious telltale signs of his insectoid origins: an extra pair of optics, hypersensitive furry antennae, and wings folded behind him). His work in intelligence made him a dangerous and formidable opponent, Sota is more than capable of holding his own and that of his fellow Insecticons. He can be kind and even nice, but you need remembering about his more savage nature. Sota is intelligent, adaptable, and quick to learn new things. Becoming his friend is a sure good thing, but Sota is a bot with questionable morals, as he has a different way of thinking. For the most part, he enjoyed his life as a scout, and his mind not so clear enough from the effects of the Queen and the Common Mind to analyze what was happening on the planet. During the daytime cycles, he mostly rested in secluded places and avoided Cybertronians, but during the nighttime cycles, on the contrary, he felt comfortable and even made acquaintances (mostly those who had no prejudices against Insecticon).

Driven by his own curiosity and the fact that his native colony of insecticons was gradually dying out, he left the hive shortly before the final destruction of "Prosperitatis". Before the hive came to an end, he often turned to his queen, speaking of the need to leave the territory for the sake of survival, but was punished for this more than once. The queen was passive and confident in the stability of her own position, so HoneySota himself left the familiar way of life. So when the "Hive" was destroyed, he was left in proud solitude, without the necessary documents and earnings. Initially, HoneySota planned to join another hive to continue living a familiar way of life and not feel lonely. After the death of the queen, his processor was empty of the general swarm of thoughts and this led to discomfort, besides, life in the society of Cybertron was difficult. Much later, he overcame himself and decided to try to live alone, fearing that other hives would fall.

☆Meet The OC: HoneySota☆

(The author of these drawings has deleted himself from the network, so I can't tag him. The art was made only when Sota appeared and I started to come up with his lore)

For the most part, before the war, he worked as a courier among the gangs, carrying dubious orders. At first, it was difficult for him to understand the concept of "legality" and "illegality" of some actions, but he had comrades who helped and taught him. HoneySota was able to integrate into the society of Cybertron, perceiving it more as a strange, peculiar hive. This helped him get rid of the feeling of loneliness, and rare meetings with other Insecticons were a pleasant surprise. He also often worked as a guide, along the underground untouched communications that were mainly used by Insecticons. Or as a waiter, a general worker in general, since he could not apply for any specific job due to the fact that he have moth altform (the functionalists were not happy, so he had some problems with documents and proving that he was not a "stupid animal"). Living in proud solitude, he discovered a lot for himself, since the mind of the swarm still partially deprived him of individuality earlier.

Here are a few things he learned about himself:

He likes lamps and glowing things (aka a moth, guys. There must be a thousand and one lamp jokes here). Sometimes his friends would use it to wake him up. HoneySota would scare them by suddenly appearing out of the darkness like a jack-in-the-box. He has his own small collection of glowing things or light-refracting crystals.

He can make high-pitched squeaking sounds when scared or when someone pokes him in his delicate parts (if you've seen videos of the Death's Head Moth squeaking, this is it).

HoneySota loves sweet energon and can be a bit careless with the treat. Engex tastes sweet to him too, and the Insecticon gets a funny tingling sensation in his fuel tanks when he drinks it.

He can cling to flat surfaces and scare the crap out of other bots, as many find his behavior creepy. (It's worth remembering that he's still a warrior who left his scout past behind.)

"Dude let me in, I'm a fairy" - a commission I ordered from this wonderful artist @recvachka (thank you🔥✨)

Later in the pre-war time, he spent some time in the Decepticons, but quickly realized that he would become nothing more than a tool and left their ranks. Unfortunately, he allowed Shockwave to research him, as he thought it could help his comrades. A couple of the scientist's experiments made HoneySota more terrifying and capable of creating a colony in his self. He was not a "queen", but had the necessary changes in his body to create other Insecticons. The changes made him more aggressive than usual, although earning his respect or friendship will keep you safe (In this regard, he is like Aragog, he can be calm and not touch you, but his morality is so gray that you can quickly become dinner for his descendants). After he left the Decepticons, he remained in neutral territories for some time, where he worked as a courier and helped smugglers traveling from world to world, from one spaceport to another. The life of a nomad was not to his liking, Sota wanted to create his own hive. In one of his travels, he ended up staying on Eukaris, where he found a Conjunx Endura and founded a small hive.

His Conjunx Endura, whose name is Niagara, is the Prince of one of the "Kingdoms" that are at war with each other. Niagara was pleased with the idea of spreading his own hive, so together with HoneySota he began to strengthen the borders and recapture his own territory. Past experience made the moth a strong warrior, so soon a small nest and the first Insecticons appeared. In the recaptured territory, they founded their own hive, at the moment they have common Sparklings-bugs (the way they created is really quite scary, if you are interested, perhaps I will tell you. ask me please).

The names of the sparklings bugs and their species: Victory (Species: Dryocampa rubicunda), IceCrunch (Species: Oryctes nasicornis), Jewel (Species: Cetonia aurata), SlyShine (Species: Chrysolina coerulans) and Divine (Species: Rosalia alpina)

Niagara is a character of my wonderful friend, who made me a new reference HoneySota, now we are creating lore together. (On the left is Niagara's art, on the right is my old art where Sota is sitting hugging her sparklings. Now my friend and I are drawing new references for the little bugs, so I will publish them when they are ready)

Earlier I published a video in which I made headcanons for the voices of my characters, you can see it here. Voice of HoneySota: Johnny Cash - Ain't No Grave

If you have any questions, I will be happy to answer them, because this is not all the information I have.

It doesn't matter if he's small or not, Garp will still do what he wants and sometimes make Bogard angry. It seems to me that if Bogard had been a tontatta, it would have been more difficult for Garp to evade responsibility. Who checks their pockets thinking there is a spare cookie in them?
