Fiddleford came back to talk things out and came in time to see Ford just about get pushed into the portal. Fiddleford acted first. He was fast enough to push Ford out of danger but had himself get stuck into the portal. The guilt from it makes Ford lose his mind bit by bit. Knowing that his friend sacrificed himself to save him.
