every now and then I'll pull a weird ship out of my ass, just because the specific characters fit the text, but they've never met in canon or at least the relationship they do have has never been explored in a romantic way, and I think it's so fun to think about how that would work out for them, what quadrant, etc, no matter how weird it seems. I chose Tagora and Trizza for this post because they both like money and dislike mercy. a match made in hell!

i was so ready to be the one to translate the alternian, ive been reading and writing it for like 7 years, I've trained for this day etc etc 😤 only to find out they changed it for hiveswap and my beloved daedric alternian is nowhere to be found!!! kids these days with their newfangled non-copywrite-stricken Modern Alternian, i tell u what

I've been meaning to look into OG Alternian. But if you're interested in learning Hiveswap Alternian, the way I learned it was through the character select cards at the start of each volume in Friendsim. It had the characters' names written in both english and Alternian, and between all of them, I was able to find the symbols for every letter and the question mark. I also found the Alternian exclamation point and period from background posters and stuff.

Azdaja and Chahut's cards helped me the most. I can't look at their cards without remembering how they taught me the ABCs!

Well anyway, I appreciate your enthusiasm! Maybe one day, I'll learn old Alternian and write something that you can translate! But for now, here's a cookie for your effort!

So we know lowbloods, particularly goldbloods, frequently have “psiionic” powers which seem to mostly consist of telekinesis and the ability to shoot lasers from their eyes. Lowbloods with these powers are frequently forced into service as “Helmsmen” in the Imperial Fleet where they are implied to serve as basically the ship’s engine.

In Hiveswap Act 1, attempting to use Xefros’s powers on I think the autotune mic (but it may have been another electrical object) laughingly dismisses the idea that troll psiionics are electricity or can be used to power things.

In Hiveswap Friendsim Volume 4, Vikare’s story revolves around his obsession with flight and his attempts to invent powered air craft, making it explicitly clear that Alternia never invented aeronautics. They have no flight technology.

Are you beginning to see where I’m going here?

HELMSMEN ARE LITERALLY PROPELLING THE SHIPS THROUGH SPACE TELEKINETICLY.

I mean, when you think about it, it makes sense! Why bother with rocket fuel and wings when you have a planet full of people who can make shit fly with their minds? But still, it’s hilarious to me that this incredibly technologically advanced civilization doesn’t have engines in their ships and don’t know how they work because when they need to go somewhere they just have THE LOWBLOOD GET OUT AND PUSH.
