Being here is great and I love this wonderful fandom. We got so little and made so much out of it, I love us.

After so many months, I have finally finished another Dead Boy Detectives fic!!!

Summary:

From a very young age, Edwin knew he was different.

People were never easy for him. He was ‘sensitive’. Intense. Weirdly obsessed. It didn't help that his heart had always started racing around a particular boy from his fencing class.

The kids at St. Hilarion had never let him forget how different he was. They made it their mission to turn his life into a living hell for years- *before* they then sent him to actual hell.

No matter what he did, his mother always seemed to despise him.

He tried, he tried so hard to push through everything. He never asked to be different. But nothing ever worked.

One thing was abundantly clear: something was entirely wrong about Edwin Payne.

A glance at Edwin’s growing up in the Edwardian era, his life, death, and all the rest.

Edwin Payne always knew he was different, he was a disaster and a failure. Only a matter of time before Charles will realise and leave. He enters a panic attack thinking about his past.

Charles, however, thinks differently, and is intent on having none of that self hate his boyfriend seems to insist on.

Edwin is sad. Charles hugs him really really tight to let him know he is loved and okay.

Basically just autistic Edwin fic, with a very very long introduction about his past the bullying he went through etc. I hope you will enjoy!

Do you think Alfred has that book for Damian?

I know Damian is vegetarian not vegan but still. Plus I'm pretty sure he drinks only batcow's milk to not abuse other animals (obviously he treats her well and in fair living conditions) so it could make sense.

A list of all of Damian Wayne's pets but they are just getting bigger:

1. Alfred Pennyworth the cat (named after Alfred the man of course)

Alfred found him and brought him to Damian! He said he reminded him of Damian.

Edit: it happened in batman incorporated volume 2 if you want to read it! He appeared in issue 6.

2. Murder King (Wayne Family Adventures universe)

His birthday present from Bruce.

3. Jerry the Turkey (li'l Gotham universe exclusive)

I don't remember the details but Damian encountered a pack of turkeys while on a mission and he just kept him after that.

4. Titus

I unfortunately haven't had the chance to read Titus's comics yet, I think Bruce got him to Damian?

Edit: I recommend reading the super sons annual, it's a one shot of Titus and the other super-pets as the league of super pets.

Anyway he's a very good dog.

5. Batcow

Rescued from a mission on a slaughterhouse! When Damian saw what the place did to animals he declared he adopts batcow and as of now he's vegetarian.

Edit: again, I recommend supersons annual if you want to read about her! She's a member of the league of super-pets as well. The origin comic is batman incorporated volume 2 issue 1.

6. Goliath the Dragon Bat

If you're Damian Wayne's fans I really recommend reading Robin Son of Batman! It's where Goliath was introduced, in general I consider it the best Damian Wayne comic ever.

To short things up, Damian found him at his time with the League of Assassins while on a mission, and brought him back with him. Later on Robin Son of Batman he also brought him to Gotham to be with the other pets.

And 7, the newest member- Wiggles!

Appeared in nightwing volume 4 issue 42. He just appeared and Damian adopted him and took him to the cave with the other pets.

Spirit World going viral on twitter with the comic panels of Constantine respecting his non binary friend's pronouns just confirmed to me that most of the people who claim to love the character know nothing about him. "John Constantine has gone woke", a lot of people say.

You mean, the Constantine who kicked the shit out of Nazis on his early comics? The one reminding you how much he hated Margaret Thatcher? The one who was teased as a queer character since his creation in the 80s and was confirmed as bisexual in the 90s? The one who lost gay friends during the aids crisis and the one who despises cops? The former punk who has voted the Labour Party all his life?

You mean, are you surprised THAT character is "woke" now? If you are disappointed, that's on you.

I'm literally mind blown by the fact he remembered my name, I have sent this a couple of days apart he probably gets so many requests I'm in shock people- George Rextrew remembered me- (jesus hold your autism together Skylie). I have literally sent it just today after I got my first cameo and got it an hour later when I was just preparing to post my first cameo on tumblr. This man is a fucking demon wtf).

1. My favourite character

It's Charles. Yeah it's very obvious from my profile picture, I'm a Charles fan all the way.

The moment I met him in the show/ trailer I got possessed. I knew he was going to be my favourite character and I was right. Also I'm in love(/nsrs. Well, okay, maybe a bit, but mostly not!) with Jayden Revri. God the eyes of this boy. And his face. And his everything.

Yeah Charles is very much my favourite.

After him probably Edwin Crystal and Jenny, with no particular order. I can't decide.

I'm extremely obsessed with Edwin as well, although he is vastly different from my usual type of characters, because a fencer (in my heart, George also confirmed! And I relate to him on that) + he's not afraid to be bitchy and he's so iconic and so many others stuff that surprised me about him. I love him.

Also Crystal. My love. My girl. Complex female characters my beloved.

And Jenny is an icon. What else can I say?

5. Character I relate to the most.

Well, it's Charles. Sorry the answer is clear cut lol.

His situation with his parents reminds me of my own a lot (unfortunately). I relate to him on so many deep and emotional levels. Some of the episodes hit me strong. I thought 3 was going to be the peak where we get to see his trauma although it's not a lot, and then episode 4 hit me like a train. Episode 5 (especially the end) has my heart.

I relate to Charles on so many levels.

I also relate to Crystal a lot, her journey is relatable. I feel her.

She's just as messy and complicated as anyone else in there, I get her.

7. Favourite headcanon from the fandom

Demiromantic Charles! I talked about it before and also tagged the post I saw it in that explains it really well. I love this. I wish I saw more fanfics exploring this.

Also I wish I saw more gender queer Charles Rowland.

But mostly demi Charles. I can't think of any other hc I saw I really like yet.

15. My favourite line

There are many, many, hilarious lines I dearly love. But I am going to go with an angsty pick, I think the line that broke me the most was a line Charles said in episode 1 I didn't see anyone talking about I think holds a major part of his character- "you are the smart one, and I'm the one that does shit like this." It deeply hurt me.

Let's talk about it for a moment, shall we?

Because Charles is smart. Many times he finds the solutions to their cases, Edwin often praises him for his brilliant mind and George himself said in a cameo only people he thinks truly deserves it- a compliment from Edwin is the highest compliment ever.

Charles is smart.

But he sees himself as this reckless, foolish, charicaristic. This sentence comes from so much self hatred. When things get complicated we see him turn again into the aggressive image he has of himself. He sees himself as waste. He holds Edwin at the highest place ever in his eyes "you are the smart one, you are better than this, you are better than me, don't step to my level I'm trash you are so much more I will do it for you" and it just hurts me how much he throws himself away in the process.

Seeing this line again in a rewatch and realise it definitely was a stab to the chest, now that it's known how much he hates himself.

I wish we talked about episode 1 more, it's a great episode that sets out so many important stuff for the rest of the show. We just skip over it because so much happened so quickly but there are so much stuff we need to unpack there.

I feel like people forgot that redemption arc doesn't mean making the fans forgive the character.

Redemption arc is a process of a character actively trying to change their ways in order to redeem themselves from their past dids.

It's not just "I did bad things but I'm good now" (AHEM CATRA FROM SHE-RA).

If I killed a person but saved a life it does not compensate the life I took, I'm not "redeemed".

I LOVE good redemption stories but sometimes I feel like society forgot what redemption arc stands for. A lot of times it became to just making a bad character do good things so people will like/forgive them, not an actual redemption.
