that one scene in spiderverse when miguel pulls out the silly expository lady for some silly exposition time. and he starts talking about the universe and webs and canons and you’re like oh boy this is getting complicated. time to get exposited. but then he starts talking about how your dad HAS to die. and you’re like wait this feels kinda…wrong. isn’t it really sad that this is a necessary thing for every spiderman? isn’t it really sour that pavitr didn’t let that man die, but now everyone in his universe is suffering for it? why does it have to be this way? and then miles starts to realize, my dad is next. but he’s my DAD. and you’re like this is jeff we’re talking about. and this scene that’s framed like, here’s the exposition, now let’s go punch some bad guys—miles is like no. stop. this can’t be right. and we’re also like this can’t be right. and then the movie starts breaking down. and the problem stops feeling like it can be solved in 140 minutes because suddenly the problem is so very big and baked into the foundation of the universe. and then miles starts running. and then you’re like oh…the exposition was supposed to feel wrong cause it wasn’t exposition by the heroes, it was a villain speech.

They didn't show us Frank and Bill dying together. They didn't show us Riley becoming infected and Ellie having to kill her. Because ultimately The Last of Us isn't a story about DEATH. It's about LIFE, how we choose to live it, and the people we spend it with.

Still remember when a homo- and transphobic acquaintance tried to bring up JKR’s views on trans people in conversation and I shut it down with «oh yeah she’s been saying a lot of dumb shit on Twitter after she finished writing Harry Potter, like when she claimed Dumbledore was gay, just to be politically correct», which made it absolutely impossible for him to admit that he agreed with anything JKR had ever said. Sometimes you just have to weaponise people’s homophobia against their transphobia.

can someone explain how trans people, usually women, using bathrooms is a bigger issue than the missing undocumented children and the fact that children are being locked up by an organization with multiple accounts of s*xual abuse?

y’know what i’m not sorry. if you think that people’s right to live is a political issue then reevaluate your life and consider your privilege. the phrase, “life, liberty, and the persuit of happiness” was described in the deceleration of independence as unalienable right, or rights that are incapable of being taken away. and by turning people’s lives, their liberties, their ability to persue happiness into political issues, then you are in fact going against what the founding fathers, whom you do so often praise, wanted. human rights are not and should never be a political issue.

hi if you’re rude to an essential worker during this pandemic, you’re a horrible person. but if i find out that you are rude to the high school aged kids who work in grocery stores around the country just trying to get your order rung up or stock the shelves, i’ll actually break your kneecaps and steal your legs.
