I shine the flashlight around, worried. Where is she? She should’ve been home by now. The rest of the party plus Steve stands behind me. God, she needs to be here, she could get hurt.

“Y/N! Please! Come here!”

A demodog trots out of the bushes, heading our way. I breathe a sigh of relief walking towards it.

“God, you had me worri-“

A baseball bat slams down on her. I freeze, shocked.

“No! Steve stop!”

Y/N lays on the ground, mewling in pain. Steve steps back confused. I run to her, placing a hand on her skin. She shrieks in pain, guilt hits me.

“I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have let come here.”

She tries to pick up her head, nuzzling into my hand. Tears sting my eyes, I place my hands under her, slowly picking her up. She screams, curling further into my body.

“I’m so sorry. I know it hurts. Just a little bit longer.”

Steve follows close behind, closing the bus door behind us. Everyone jumps, fleeing to the opposite side of the bus.

“What the hell! Get that thing out of here!”

I feel anger and sadness.

“Listen! She’s not a thing! And she’s hurt! So stop!”

Everyone recoils from my outburst. I gently lay her down, lightly stroking across her skin. She mewls, attempting to get up.

“No, just rest.”

She resists before lightly nodding, laying back down. I pull a blanket over her, stroking my fingers over face, earning a light mewl from her.

“It’s gonna be okay. Just sleep.”

A hand reaches towards her, and I try to stop them. She snaps towards it, and yelps in pain.

“No one touch her! She’s really protective of me.”

“Mike. Explain.”

I turn, seeing an angry and confused party.

“She came to me after Will came back. She started leaving me small gifts, like change, shiny things. I invited her in, and she basically started acting like a dog. She started to follow me everywhere, even to school. One time, Troy started bullying me, he pushed me and I got hurt. Y/N ran out, screaming, and trying to bite him. She’s very protective and loyal to me.”

They all stare at me blankly.

“You’re kidding right?”

I shake my head, a hand grips my pant leg. I turn, seeing Y/N. Kneeling, I grab her claw, pressing my lips to her face. Just a light peck.

“Hey. It’s gonna be okay.”

Her breathing starts to slow as she settles down. I stand up, earning another tug on my pant leg.

“Alright. Alright. I’m here.”

Everyone goes back to being look outs, leaving us alone. I clutch onto her, gently stroking her skin.

“You know, I do love you. You’re amazing, and you’re gonna get through this. We both are. You’re gonna get better.”

The bus fills with the sounds of bones and tendons snapping and cracking. Y/N screams, I watch as her body starts to painfully shift.

“Guys! They’re here!”

Demodogs shriek and start to attack the bus. We finally manage to fight them all off.

“Mike?”

We all look back, seeing a girl on the seat I left Y/N.

“Who are you?”

She stands, wrapping the blanket around herself.

“It’s me.”

I cock my head, confused.

“It’s Y/N.”

I shake my head, stepping back.

“No, you aren’t. Where’s my girl?”

She shakes her head, a sad look on her face. Walking closer, she takes my face, cupping it in her hand. A flash appears, every moment we’ve been together flashes across my retinas. Then her face reappears, a tear streaming down it.

“It is you…”

She nods, brushing a thumb across my cheek.

“My Mike.”

I smile, wrapping my arms around her body. She presses her face into my neck, inhaling deeply.

“You smell nice.”

I chuckle under my breath.

“Thank you.”

Her legs collapse as she falls into my chest. I catch her, a blush painting my cheeks.

“Do you need me to carry you?”

She nods, wrapping her arms around my neck.

She lays on the couch, resting. My hand grips hers as I watch her. I smile.

“My girl.”

She stirs, looking at me with a small smile.

“Mike.”

I press a kiss to her cheek, cupping her face. She does the same, looking into my eyes.

“Love you too.”

Imagine your a mermaid who’s never seen a human before but has always been curious also I just love mermaids man also reader kinda sees Dustin as their son

You had always been more curious then your shoal mates always wanting to explore and discover much to the annoyance of your best friend Steve

You had pleaded with him to come explore an old pirate ship that had sunk to the bottom of the ocean wanting to collect any treasure you could to add to your growing collection

Of course steve being the ever responsible one says nope and warns you against going

Do you listen? Nope the moment you get the chance your off towards the ship excitement coursing through your veins

That’s when you saw it a huge dark looming shadow moving towards you from above you could hear the muffled voices of someone barking orders figuring out that said shadow wasn’t a whale or shark but a huge pirate ship

Hellfire was carved into the side of the newish ship who’s crew was rushing around preparing to anchor for the night.

There stood at the helm looking over the vast sea was none other than captain Edward “The freak” Munson he was always the talk of the town when he brought his ship to port rumors of him being a devil worshipper and a cultist spreading like wildfire no matter where he went was any of it true? No was he gonna correct anyone? Also no, he liked the way people would steer clear of him

When you had breached the surface of the waves you looked up in awe at the ebony ship shocked by the sheer size of it having never seen a none sunken ship you had wanted to move closer but the moment you were about to Eddie spots you blinking once to see if you were real only to result in him catching the fins of your tail disappearing beneath waves

You had left vowing to come back later on in the evening when you wouldn’t be spotted Eddie’s face filling your mind as you swam back towards your cove

Night had came and sure enough there you were swimming back towards the familiar ship breaching the waves when suddenly SNAP your out of the water trapped in a large net so you start writhing fighting for anyway to get out of it looking upwards in fear when the crews face come into view

From their point of view all they could here were dolphin like clicking as you tried to call for anyone to help you fear rushing through your veins

When you were dropped onto the dry deck of the ship you winced placing your hands over where some of your scales that had been rubbed off from the rough treatment only looking up when a tall shadow looks above you

“What should we do with them Eddie” you heard one of them saying figuring out it was a younger boy no older than 16 who had asked his eyes staring at you in wonder having never seen a mermaid in person before.

All at once every crew member starts talking trying to tell the captain what to do with you all the way from selling you when they port to keeping you to having you lure your shoal mates so they could capture them to.

Eddie had told them to shut up before kneeling before you reaching out to touch the gills on the side of your neck pulling away when you slash at him with your claws prepared to fuck anyone who tried to touch you up

“Put them in the fish hold for now while I deal with this and figure out what we should do” he stood up and marched away disappearing into a door at the back of the ship

You didn’t know how long it had been since they put you in there all you knew was your scales were falling off in droves blood dripping below you as you laid your head against the hard wood wishing you could see your shoal mates one last time

When the door had popped open you could see the familiar face of the young man come into view watching as he climbs in with you, you unable to move to weak to fight back if he were to try anything.

I brought you some food and water he had said pushing a raw fish and some clean water in a mug for you before sitting opposite of you.

You looked at the food then back at him then the food before picking it up and starting to scarf it down to hungry to worry if it was tainted or poisoned or not

While you were distracted Dustin had reached out touching the scales on your tail looking surprised when a faint bioluminescent glow followed his fingers

“Th-ank you” you had said to him in broken English laying back down breathing slowing as you poured a bit of water on your tail to try to keep form losing more scales

“I’ve never seen a mermaid before” Dustin had said wonder in his voice “my mom always told me about them when I was young but I never thought I would” he continued before looking over at you who had fallen into a restless sleep soft clicking emanating from the back of your throat

When you awoke you had realized the young man had placed a wet cloth over your tail to try to help you from losing more scales

You planned to thank him again if he returned only to be blinded by the bright sunlight as Eddie came into view climbing down into the hold with you.

You backed up the best you could placing yourself as far from him as you could “I’m not gonna hurt you” he said studying your body language not missing the way your eyes held fear

“Let go” you had pleaded pointing outside only to feel your heart drop when he shook his head “I can’t” he replied “your to much of a rare find to let go” all you could do was sniffle and cry your tears dripping down on the hard floor

He was wondering what this feeling was when he saw you cry the fight leaving your body at the news that you wouldn’t be leaving “I’ll take you above deck they built a pool for you so you won’t be stuck down here” he had told you before reaching out to pick you up

When you were set in the small pool all you could do was just lay at the bottom under the water they had placed in it staring blankly at the walls of your confinement

“Set a course of the nearest port” you heard Eddie shout before closing your eyes thoughts racing with memories of your friends warning you to stay away from humans you wished you would’ve listened

You were awoken by a gentle tap to the shoulder causing you to jolt and lash out with your claws cutting open Dustin’s arm “s-o-rry” you repeated over and over as you quickly took the young man’s arms into your hands you thought of what you could do deciding to take a few scales off your tail laying them on the wound watching as they fused to his skin and healed him.

“Woah” Dustin said in astonishment a goofy grin on his face “that’s so fuckin cool” he said studying the scales now fused to his arm

Days had passed it seemed since that incident Dustin always coming to talk to you trying to teach you proper English and showing you things from the human world like books and stuff of that sort you in return told him of your home and your shoal and mermaid customs

Sometimes Dustin would come alone or with Eddie until one day it was just Eddie who had taken a seat in front of your pool “you know” he began “my uncle always told tales of mermaids who would lure men to sea to their deaths why haven’t you yet?” He questioned

You look confused wondering where his uncle had learned that before replying “I’m mermaid, your thinking of siren, two separate things” he looked intrigued at the revelation “so what do mermaids do then?” He questioned

“Different things, different shoals different abilities” you had said watching as he nodded seemingly deep in thought “and what can you do what’s your- what’d you call- shoals ability?” You pondered for a moment before saying “we glow and we heal” you ran your hands over your tail a bioluminescent trail following your movements “it’s dark where I’m from so we adapted” he watched in wonder fighting the urge to reach out and touch.

After that it had become a regular occurrence to see at least Eddie or Dustin or both of them once a day beginning to enjoy talking to them and answering there questions them in return answering yours.

But yet even as you grew to like your human friends you missed your shoal your home your people

Eddie and Dustin had come at night to talk to you seeing you staring longingly out at the bast expanse of inky water letting out soft calls and clicks before the realize they hear what sounds like a reply coming from afar

“We have to them go Eddie” Dustin had told him not wanting to you look so lonely anymore having grown to cherish you “it’s time we let them go” he repeated watching as his captains face fell “if you really have grown to love them like you say you do you’ll let them go” he said almost pleading

All Eddie could do was nod knowing that he had indeed fallen in love with you and that it was cruel just to keep you here for his own selfish needs. He would set you free even if it meant never seeing you again “it’s time then”

You turn towards the two of them flashing them a smile before having it drop at the looks on their faces “what’s the matter?” You question reaching up to wipe a tear from Dustin’s cheek

“It’s time to let you go home” Eddie had said kneeling down beside your pool sadness ever present in his eyes “home?” You had said excitement in your voice “yeah -“ you don’t miss the way Dustin’s voice cracks “home”

You gently hold onto Eddie as he lifted you from your pool walking over to the edge of the boat and staring at the water below.

You gently turn his face towards yours using your thumb to caress under his eyes wiping away his tears “it’s okay Ed’s” you take a deep breath and remove your necklace that had been passed down to you slipping it around his neck “always with you” you lean in leaving a soft feather like kiss to his lips

You turn to Dustin who had been silently crying watching the scene unfold and you gently reached out to him to “brave boy, be strong, be kind” you reminded him before pushing away from Eddie’s body careening towards the sea sighing in bliss as you felt true salt water for the first time in months

But why if you were so happy did your heart feel so empty as you look above at Eddie and Dustin standing watchinh where you disappeared you gasped when they were suddenly pushed into the water chasing after them as they disappear farther and farther down in the inky depths

Unbeknownst to Eddie and Dustin the crew had been planning a coup since the moment you had arrived on the ship and when they saw that their once fearless captain had become soft they made their move pushing him and his right hand man overboard.

You swam as quickly as you could your powerful tail pushing as hard as it could you reached out grabbing ahold of Eddie and Dustin fighting to drag them back to the surface once getting there you lay them on a small island you had discovered

“Breathe-“ you pleaded to both of them laying your head on their chests “breathe breathe come on please” you were scared desperate even at the possibility of losing your friends “think think think” you repeated before you had an idea “forgive me you two but it’s the only way” you grabbed a shell smashing it into a sharp piece cutting open the palm of your hand pearlescent blue blood spilling from the wound you held your hand over each of their mouthes watching as a few drops landing on their tongues.

You watched as the effects started to take place, their legs began to fuse together becoming tails like yours each one unique to them and the sides of their necks opening to become gills to help them breathe better

With a gasp Eddie was awake followed by Dustin both wincing in pain unsure of what had happened. They looked down taking in the new changes to their bodies. Eddie was shocked to see a red and black tail where his legs used to be Dustin shocked to see shimming blue scales running up his hands and arms.

“Your alive!” You cry out throwing yourself into Eddie’s arms and pulling Dustin in as well “my boys my beautiful boys” you cried holding them tight

They didn’t know how they were gonna adjust to this new life but they knew they had you to help them through all of it as they hugged you tightly back thanking you for saving them.

I was awoken with a jolt. I had overslept and it was already nighttime. The dark weighing heavy on me, I had barely escaped yesterday. It was getting smarter and you knew you wouldn't be able to move as fast after the all day running you just finished. You were even more scared that your luck, that your existence was waning, but maybe you can move to the other side... maybe you could stay there. Maybe you could be among the things you really wanted, be around all the pieces of life that you only knew glimpses of.

That's when you hear the scraping, the drip of saliva, and then that rumble of a growl. The creature was near. I was not safe here anymore... well I never was safe, but now I am unable to rest.

Without really thinking you take off, sticks and slick from the other creatures causing you to stumble. The roar of the creature behind you, the smell of it, and worse the sounds of it hunting you.

It was a strange creature. They looked like flowers, they presented as something you thought would be lovely, but instead they left scars on your body. They made you shed endless tears and they left you hollow to all parts of life except surviving.

This chase though, this was one you couldn't win and the creature knew it. There was a snap and a crack of branches, the familiar hiss as it breathed into the darkness of your reality. You couldn't do this. You needed an escape. You just wanted a chance to feel the light on your skin and smell one last flower that didn't threaten your existence.

You scream as you run, you want nothing more than to escape, it knows your desperate, the sounds it's making are like a curse, a monster that has been toying with its prey. You can hear it pick up it's pace, the ground crunching under its feet, you see the sky light up in excitement of the chase. This world toyed with you, it made you and it wanted to consume you.

This was the point where you would just lie down, let the monster take you, end your suffering, but something inside couldn't help but feel today you could make it, today you would break through that barrier and today you would be free.

The thin cloth that clung to your body was catching on the trees, scrapes and traces of blood sure to be left, you decide to lose the cloth, be free to hit and tear away unhindered.

Your hair was stuck to your back, unclean and matted from the last few days, you dared a bath just seven days prior, the cool rush of the water only adding to your discomfort. You wondered when the last time you were actually warm was. Your bath was short lived as the creature is always looking, always waiting.

Tonight was different, it was angry, it wanted to kill you. A Flash... then the cry of the creature breaks your chain of thought. Your legs are screaming for you to stop, but you can't, you can't, you won't. You need to live, it's then that you see the water, the creature doesn't like the water, you love it. Jumping in you dive down... down deeper until you reach the bottom. That's when you see the low golden tones of the sun setting and you know it'll be safe. The sudden stillness of the water intercepted as you feel the monster has reached the waves. It won't be long till he comes for you.

You push through the opening and swim with all your might to the surface, time halted, your lungs on fire, then as you get to the surface you realize you can't be there... that barrier, the one you know only goes down once in a while. You start to hit the barrier, thinking you would die right there. Thinking you would just let the water on this side take you.

Why weren't you able to cross?

That's when your pounding was met with something unknown... a warmth, fingers help you push through and hot breath catches across your forehead.

Who is this?

You did it. You saved her. Her fingers were chilled and grasp your arms. She met your eyes and one word left her lips, "run!"

You didn't think, pulling her into you and feeling her cling to your clothes. You swim and you swim till your feet hit the shore. She clamors onto the dirt then doesn't stop as she reaches for your hand.

"Run?" You ask looking at her, the strange fright in her eyes stops you as you turn to see the water growing even darker. That's when you see it, the familiar smoke of the Flayed, the monster that crept into your friend Will's world, the same monster that kept Henry prisoner, and further still the same monster that drove Max's brother Billy to kill. It's crashing against the waters surface, unable to break free, the monster is screaming at the futility of not being able to breach the water's surface.

The shrill sound making you cover your ears. A tension deep inside, the fear of knowing how awful this creature was. You would need to talk to Steve tomorrow.

She starts to stand when you shake your head, you wanted to make sure taking her was a good idea, a beat of silence comes over the area and you look at her, "Yea... uh... let's go.." You stuttered as you took off towards your van, the world a blur as the darkness of night fell on the lake. As soon as he got to where his feet could feel like they had once again met with solid ground, not just soft mud, she was running, but you could see she was slow. You scooped her up into your arms. She gripped around your neck, her body shaking and as you raised her up into the air, You begin to notice there was a difference to her, she was so light, skin taut and her frame looked like she was starved.

Who is she?

What had happened to you?

Why was that monster so keen on getting to her?

Then looking down his face warmed, her body had nothing on it, no clothes, her hair long and she was covered in plants and other mud from the lake. You get to the van, opening the back and climbing in. You rummage around till you find a towel tossing it at the girl. She's watching you, her eyes curious and as she touches the towel her mouth goes agape, "soft."

"Yea. Soft." Eddie isn't sure if she is dumb, traumatized or worse a monster herself, but right now he couldn't help but stare at her. She was the most gorgeous girl he had ever seen, even gross and swamp skinned. She was in fact just stunning. Her words seemed to muddle together like she had no use for them where she was from, an instinct to protect her, to make sure she is okay hit Eddie deep in his chest, "I'm going to take you somewhere safe okay?"

"safe." She repeated, "soft?" She pointed to the towel and you can't help but chuckle and nod. She looked at you unable to really understand what you were saying, it made him worry, but that's when you nodded curled up against the side of the van, the chill not hitting you from the lake. Your small body shaking almost uncontrollably, Eddie then looked around and saw his jacket in the passenger seat, he reached over and then came over to you draping the material over your toweled frame, "I'm Eddie."

Your eyes meet his and it's like the world stopped. He knows you. Eddie is not sure how but the look in your eyes to be helped is all he needs. He then runs to start the van, leaving you in the back, promising himself to drive slowly and carefully. The screams had stopped and he was sure that thing would not be leaving that abyss.

He then spoke slowly, "Taking you home."

He watched your head nod and then with a small smile he pulled back towards his trailer, soaked to the bone, but with this new mission. He wanted to make sure he saved you, he also knew that this meant there was a new danger. The monsters in the upside down hadn't ended with Vecna, there was still so much more.

As you arrive at the trailer, it starts to become real, you are not inside your nightmare anymore, there are others around you. The moving contraption vibrated under you and it was strange the warmth that everything had, it wasn't all scary like your usual hiding places. You liked the smell of the person that helped you, and you really liked this soft fur he gave you.

The moving vibration stopped as you arrived at what looked like a familiar spot, this was one of the places you have hidden, but it was different. It was not scary. He helped you out of the "van", that's the word he used. He called himself.. Eddie...he threaded his fingers with yours, his jacket the only piece of clothing on your body. He peered into the cave of metal and started to thank something called god that a Wayne was gone for the night. Hurrying you to another room he opened his mouth to say, "shower." He points and you tilt your head, he sighs as he walks you over and turns on the water. He places his hand under and then motions for you to get in.

Water inside? Why? What is it he is trying to tell you? You wished you could answer his words. You can tell he wasn't trying to hurt you, but you were unsure if he was going to give you back to the creature. You hesitantly step under the water and the warmth enveloped you, a feeling you had never felt, and before you knew it a sound left your mouth that caused Eddie to groan. You watched him as you let the water pour down, unsure how it all would work. Eddie rubs his face and undresses, realizing you didn't know how to wash or what to do besides make the hottest sounds his ears could hear. He waits a beat before you turn from him and as you see him without clothes your fingers start to wander, your touch making him groan and whimper as it was new and pleasing to the both of you. He turns you around and runs his fingers through your hair, "how long were you down there?"

The black muck and vegetation sliding off you, the revelation of your skin was not lost on Eddie, he breathed harshly, "beautiful."

Your hands emboldened with the new warmth, you turn back towards him, the water streaming down your body and you want to touch him more, your voice failing you and you look him in the eyes, you touch his lips and say the word back to him, "Beauti...fu..l"

His eyes get big and he shakes his head, "Yea. You don't know how to talk huh?"

You shake your head and he tilts his own, "But you can understand me?" You nod then look around as Eddie starts to clean your body with the washcloth, his fingers gliding under the cloth, but he is acutely aware of all the pieces he can touch. You eyes follow his fingers as you both just breathe, that's when he sighs, "Do you have a home?"

You tilt your head. Home. What does that mean? You shake your head, unsure what the question really was, but knowing you don't have anything that matches that word. He frowns, "let's get you some clothes and then we need to figure out how to communicate."

You nod as you start to wander about the water room, opening various containers and they smelled like different types of flowers, you liked the smells. Eddie watched you and then placed some of the contents in his hand, he started to run it through his hair, motioning for you to do the same. You nod and then sensation of it on your head was too much, the moans that came out of your lips made Eddie close his eyes, "Fuck."

You go to speak but the contents get into your eye, you cry out and Eddie laughs as he tries to get you to let the water run into your now burning eye, he's got his arm around you as he soothes you. The sounds all too familiar and you hold your eye closed, "not soft."

This makes Eddie start to laugh uncontrollably, "Nope. Not soft."

He shakes his head as he helps you finish washing, he called it washing, and you smelled different after the process. His eyes wandering all over your body as he touched spots on your hips and back, "Not soft."

You look down to see the remains of a where the creature had bitten and clawed at you. There was a sudden acknowledgement of the damage, "Not soft." you whispered.

I couldn't help but stare at her, she was a mystery. The marks, scars and twinge of smell she came with must be from years of being down inside that place. You had noted she was curious of everything, so it could be years she was trapped down there. I remember that Will said he had lasting effects from the upside down, you were worried this girl was more bad than good. She was able to understand some of what you were saying, it was almost elementary, but you knew you needed help if you were going to get her to stay here. Stay safe.

You watch as she starts to look about the trailer, everything was interesting to her, she was so damn beautiful, now smelling like Veronica's old soaps, it was almost like they took on a different life, a different world. She was touching photos and smiling, the look on her face meant she was limited to her contact with our world. I touched the phone wondering if they were a good idea, but you knew you couldn't do this alone, not with her being so vulnerable. Eddie, this is for her, just call. Steve always understands. You dial the number and his voice answers so clearly, "Harrington residence."

"Steve." My voice squeaks out, "You done with the party?"

"Eddie? You okay?" Steve sounded panicked, "It's just Henry, Robin and I now."

"Fuck. I um... found someone.... at the lake... she's ..." You rubbed your face as you look over and she's on the couch, curled up and looking at you, "Soft." she repeats as she bounces on the cushions and you just laugh, "I um... may have saved some girl from the Flayed..."

"What?!" Steve about came unglued, "You at home? She alright? Do we know her?"

"Steve. Just get over here. Please." I sigh, "She's fucking gorgeous..."

"And you need my help?" Steve chuckled, "Alright, but Henry is coming with, so guard her."

I could hear Henry chuckling and the line went dead, now to get her dressed, maybe just tug her to your room and then... fuck, this was going to mean you have to deal with her being naked once more. You can do this Eddie, you aren't being disrespectful, you saved her. That's when you look at her, she hasn't moved and is watching you.

You point to your bedroom and she tilts her head as you sigh, "I need to get you dressed."

I walk past her motioning for her to follow, she is like a little baby bird, just running along behind me, and I can't help but watch her look around, she's too gorgeous. She tugs on my towel, "Dressed?"

"soft" I point to the towel, "more soft"

With that we go into my room, there is so much in there, fuck why don't I clean, but she doesn't seem to mind, she is just standing in the doorway. I turn to her and she is eyeing my bed, I raise an eyebrow, "you okay? You're safe."

"mine." she whispers, "soft is mine."

I am not sure what she is saying and decide to pull out some boxers and a shirt, tossing them on the bed, "yours. soft." I can't believe I am talking like this. She walks over and presses the towel to her face then just drops it, her body on display, making me turn quickly. I can hear shuffling and I turn to see the shirt on and her holding the boxers out, "mine?"

I chuckle, "Yes." As I walk over with my own pair, dropping my towel and showing her how to put them on. Her eyes get big and she goes to lift her leg into one of the holes falling backwards onto the bed. She couldn't have survived in the upside down, she's so gentle. I laugh and walk over, helping her get both legs in, gliding the shorts to her thighs, the contact with her skin made me shudder, "Soft." I said by accident and she smiled. She pulled on the boxers and took my hand in hers, placing it against her cheek, "soft. Eddie. soft."

She then stopped and pointed to herself, "soft."

I nodded and she just smiled, I was hoping she had a name, but it seemed to be foreign to her. I can then hear the sounds of the familiar BMW pulling up as well as Robin's squeals about another hot girl being found. She stood up and gripped my arm, "danger."

"No, they are here to help. Good. Soft." I took the towel to dry her hair and smiled at her. She nodded and allowed me to finish and lead her to the living room where they were waiting, I forgot I was just in boxers till Henry gives me a look, "We interrupt?"

"No. Um she was trapped under the lake... like it was glass..." I started to mumble and then Henry's eyes fall on you, it's like he was stalled, his mind slowly filling in the missing pieces, "Oh fuck... you're still alive..."

She hides behind me, snarling, "danger. Vecna."

I smirk, so Henry wasn't going to be a problem, but the fact she knows who he is... Steve then motions for Henry to leave, he makes a slight pause, "she has been down there a long time. Be careful."

She is still behind me till she can see he has left, leaping to the window to watch him disappear towards his next conquest's trailer. He always had a place to stay. She peered back to me and Steve just watched her intently, "You're safe."

"She doesn't speak well. I think she was down there longer than most... she's limited on words." I go to say something else and she's threaded her fingers with mine again, "scared."

I nod and Steve softens his look, "okay. let's sit, maybe go over what you saw."

Robin puts out her hand, "I'm Robin."

She looks at her hand and touches it with her finger, the smile comes across her face as she looks at me, "soft?"

I nod, "soft. Robin."

This was going to be a long night. She curled up next to me, the sensation of someone needing me was making me temporarily feel better. Steve noted the difference and Robin ran off to spend the night with Max, leaving yourself and Steve to kind of decipher the situation. You brought out crayons and she was drawing images of water and monsters. You also brought her a dictionary and Steve wrote your names on a paper for her to draw pictures of us. She was good at drawing, the activity calming her. She still had to be touching me, it was unique and even when I had to go to the bathroom, she wanted to come with, I had to basically slink off quickly. Steve wasn't happy that she was so scared of him, but it slowly wore off, then she was chatting with him about images.

The sun slowly rose and you all realized you had been talking most of the evening. It was then that you really noted she was different, the colors of red, orange and yellow beamed in through the blinds and she just started to cry, "soft"

It was then that we knew she just stated soft for things she liked or felt were safe. Steve nodded and pointed to the colors, "Sunrise."

"sunrise." she repeated, "Eddie. Steve. Robin. Sunrise."

Sunrise. That's what the boy named Steve called it. This night was filled with new discoveries, but the colors that burst across the sky, I would never forget. I didn't have these colors down below. This upside down as Eddie called it. I wish I could communicate more with them, but I don't know all the words, I don't know these things they say, but I do still feel him.

Vecna.

You haven't changed. You are the same. You smell the same. I hate you.

He is the reason sister left. He is the reason I was alone. He is the reason the monster got so powerful. I hate him.

I feel a hand on my cheek as I look at Eddie, "do you want to go to sleep?"

I know sleep. I heard sister use that when she would rest. I would watch her for hours, she was so peaceful. I would like to try that. I nod at him and as he moves away, I get a feeling of fear, I need to stay near him, he was soft and mine.

Steve smiled, "I'll be back later. Maybe with Eleven. She can help."

Eddie nodded at that sentence, I caught the words help and later. I am slowly gathering the different meanings. I followed Eddie back to the room with all his things, it was strange, I can't tell him.. this room was where I would hide, this was a safe space for me and now being with him I know why he is so safe, his smell was there. He had been there before, he had been in your world.

"Here." Eddie moves you to the bed and then as he lays down, "soft?"

You smile, "Eddie is soft."

He stops and nods, the three words were enough for you to curl into him, warm and safe. Your eyes feeling heavy and before you could think about it too much everything went quiet. The only sound you can hear is Eddie breathing and a faint steady rhythm of his heart beat.
