Ancient Princess | The Witcher
Back to Masterlist.
Sulking along the path, Jaskier stumbles something he thought he'd never find.
Jaskier had been travelling alone for the past few months, he was unaware how far Oxenfurt actually was from Caingorn yet he was all to happy to leave it behind.
'If life could give me one blessing'
The memory still stung Jaskier, and he tried to cope the only way a bard knows how. At first his writing was sad, full of self pity and loneliness, until one day it shifted. Soon Jaksier's writing turned angry as it he realised; nothing was his fault. Geralt was the one who made the fucking wish to the Djinn, he was the one who thought the law of surprise was a good fucking idea. Who was he to blame Jaskier for his own stupid ideas.
He tried to put Geralt behind him but like an itch, the more he tried to ignore, the stronger the thoughts and memories returned. Somehow that emotionally constipated 'White Wolf' has burrowed his way deep into Jaskier's heart, not that he'd ever know.
So, as he spent his days repeating this vicious cycle of anger and misery he blindly followed the path, having lost his map days before. He didn't recognise where he was and the never ending forest didn't help his already poor sense of direction. He knew he was near the coast, the smell of sea salt lingered in the air around him. If he was by the coast, Jaskier thought, Then surely he was near at least a small fishing village. Maybe the locals will be welcoming enough. He walked for the next few hours hoping for any sign of civilisation and yet; the forest never ended. By the third hour Jaskier was half convinced he was walking in circles and ready to simply accept his fate of dying in the woods either from starvation or of whatever creatures lurked just as hungry as he was. However, Just as he was ready to give up his eyes caught something in the near distance.
A grand white marble arch, it stood tall over the path Jaskier was following, as he approached he noticed how it was covered from the top to the bottom in vines and leaves with bright coloured flowers growing in between. The path continued beyond this arch, leading towards a larger arch this time connected between two equally towering walls slightly hidden behind the bushes and trees of the forest. As Jaskier walked closer towards the second arch he was able to see what was beyond it; a city.
The city was larger, perhaps even larger than some of the continents major cities like Cintra. Furthermore, despite being at least a few centuries old this abandoned city showed no sign of damage to any of its marble buildings or sculptures. In fact the only indication of a long passage of time was the vast amount of vines and shrubbery that grown to cover majority of this city. Flowers had begun to grow between the cracks of the paths, creating a ethereal atmosphere to the entire city. Jaskier wandered around the city in awe, based on his previous studies he could deduce that this place was likely an ancient elven kingdom, but this confused him. Surely if this was in fact an elven kingdom especially of this size, the humans would have long since taken claim during their conquest of the continent. He was even further confused by the signs he saw, although he knew elder speech there were words inscribed that seemed completely alien to him. Perhaps this city predated even the elves.
As the sun began to set Jaskier had eventually made his way to the centre of the city, in which at the top of a tall staircase a grand castle stood tall above the entirety of the city. It was the most beautiful castle he had ever laid his eyes on. Similar the other structures of the city, the castle was made of pure white marble yet it had also been decorated with gold decals and several striking stain glass windows that displayed stunning landscapes and creatures unknown to Jaskier. Once he stepped inside he no less in awe, the marble floor was covered in beautiful dark blue rug that throughout every hallway of the castle. Artwork and Statues lined these hallways both also ingrained with small golden decals, Jaskier noticed several portraits which he presumed displayed the royal family and other aristocrats of the kingdom. Their ears in every painting were clearly elven, confirming Jaskier's theory of the cities origin.
The most breath-taking rooms, however were definitely the Entrance hall and Throne room.
The entrance hall had tall ceilings embellished with a stain glass dome as the roof supported by several engraved marble arches. There were two elegant marble staircases engraved with different depictions of animals and flowers. Like outside the vines had grown inside the castle as well and was wrapped around the bannister and draped down from the balconies on the higher floor.
Climbing the stairs towards the throne room, Jaskier continued to gaze in awe at paintings and tapestries that hung along the wall depicting ancient battles and scenes that were likely lost to history. He wondered if the library and the books within also remained intact, what lost knowledge was likely contained within those pages. Perhaps he could retell the stories one day through song.
The throne room was located in the centre of the castle and was a large expansive hall that echoed even the smallest of sound. Golden suits of armour lined the walls between the engraved marble columns that stretched from floor to ceiling. Banners that matched the dark blue rugs hung from arches and displayed a golden crest that appeared to be a stag with flowers hanging from its antlers. In the centre of the back wall, the throne was placed on a small platform that allowed whomever sat there to tower over those below them. It was made of pure gold and was cushioned with blue fabric. The golden frame had carvings of flowers and vines and several depictions of various woodland animals. Above the seat, on the throne's headboard was a detailed engraving of a stag's head with a stone in the centre of it forehead that reflected light and appeared to change colours.
There was a moment where Jaskier had a small temptation to take a seat on the throne, however he quickly removed the thought from his mind. If it was an elven city its final day could not have been a pretty sight and the people didn't need another human forced themselves on their throne.
Instead Jaskier made his way down from the throne room towards the servants quarters, he figured there would be a suitable bed he could spend at least spend the night on.
The servants quarters were also in impossibly well preserved condition, no rats scurried along the floor and there was of the cold chill that most servant quarters had. The kitchen was as beautiful as the rest of the castle, the counters made from the same white marble with flecks of gold mixed throughout the hard surface. Dried herbs and flowers hung across the ceilings ready to added whatever would be cooked. With increased curiosity, Jaskier opened a cupboard door to find a whole storage room filled with breads and vegetables in perfect condition. The preservation was still remarkable to Jaskier even after searching the entirety of this kingdom.
Soon Jaskier made his way out of the kitchen to find a long corridor aligned with several different doors that each led to a different room. Yet instead he chose to make his way further down the corridor where he spotted an ornate silver door, standing out amount the other plain wooden doors. It took around five minutes for Jaskier to reach the mysterious door at the end of the corridor, at which point he was able to fully appreciate its details. Engravings of flowers surrounding a single stag echoed that of the throne's own engraving. Gently, he pushed on the door and discovered it to be unlocked as it slowly creaked open. He made his way through the now open door to discover that behind it was some kind of mausoleum.
Unlike the rest of the elven kingdom this hidden mausoleum showed signs of erosion and aging. The once porcelain white marble had become a dull grey, and along the eastern wall the detailed etchings had become blurred and whatever image was once there could no longer be clearly seen.
In the centre of the room was a glass case, it was incredibly ornate with gold lining the edges of the box. The glass was almost crystal clear which allowed Jaskier to see exactly what was inside the case, shocking him greatly. Lying softly on a plush green cushion was a young elven girl. She was dressed in a simple white gown that draped against her figure, her brow hair had been carefully brushed free of any knots and imperfections and was braided in parts to delicately frame her soft features, and finally placed atop her head was small and delicate golden crown. Additionally across her most of her body except her face, were several white tattoos which appeared to join together as whole. Jaskier had never seen designs like this before and presumed it must have cultural significance for the ancient elves.
Despite this, what shocked Jaskier most all was, as he approached the case he noticed that her chest was rising and falling. Meaning she was still breathing; she was alive.
Jaskier continued to slowly approaches the glass case containing the mysterious young elf. As he reached closer and closer he felt compelled to reach his hand forward and touch the glass casing. When he placed his hand on the case he noticed his hand began feeling a rapid warmth that spread from his palm to throughout his body. When he look down he noticed that his hands had begun to glow, he tried to pull his hand away but found he couldn't.
Suddenly the glass case shattered around him, and after a moment the young elf's eyes opened.

Trust | Lyutsifer Safin x Reader
Masterlist | Part 4 to "Cherry" | Previous
After finally recovering, Y/N feels angry by Lyutsifer cold demeanour towards, that and his clear lack of trust means they quickly find themselves coming to blows. When Y/N seeks solitude elsewhere, things only escalate.
Warnings: Poison, Mentions of vomiting, Men being creepy, Attempted SA, Blood, Death
AN: Y/N Is just really emotionally confused in this chapter, but honestly can you blame her?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Y/N had been on Lyutsifer’s Island for just over a week now; after finally being signed off by the doctor, she found herself wandering through the halls of the large complex.
As she walked through the expansive corridors, the sound of her footsteps echoing slightly in the silence, she was surprised by the lack of other people around. It was almost ghostly how empty the space was.
Eventually she stumbled upon what appeared to be a large garden. Greenery covered the floors, and several plants grew around the room, a large circular pool of water placed in the centre.
She was so entranced by the beauty of the flora that she started to reach out and touch one of the plants, completely oblivious to their potentially dangerous nature.
But just as her hand was about to brush against one of its leaves, a voice cut through the room, stopping her. “I wouldn’t touch that one if I were you.”
Her hand froze in place inches from the plant's flora; turning towards him, she asked, "Why not?"
Lyutsifer leaned casually against a nearby pillar, his dark eyes watching her with amused interest. "It's poisonous," he explained casually, a smirk playing on his lips. "One touch and you'd be feeling the effects within minutes.”
"What does it do?"
He pushed himself off of the pillar and sauntered towards her, his steps slow and unhurried. "A few of the symptoms you'd feel are nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain,” he listed off, his voice cool and casual, as if discussing something very mundane.
"Oh, and a rapid heart rate," he added, his smirk growing, "just to list a few."
At his list, Y/N finally pulled her hand away, letting it rest at her side, watching as he approached. He finally stopped in front of her, his gaze fixed on her face. He looked amused at her reaction to his list of symptoms, his smirk still present.
"Still eager to touch everything?" he teased, tilting his head slightly to the side.
"What kind of garden is this?" she asked, glancing around the garden.
"A poisonous one," he responded, his tone matter-of-fact. "But also medicinal. Many of these plants have very useful properties as long as they're used correctly."
"Why do you have a poisonous garden?" She asked with a bemused expression on her face, "Is this how you made that drug?"
He smiled at her question, an almost sinister smile that sent a shiver down her spine. "I have many gardens here," he explained, his voice low and steady. "This is just one of them. And as for the drug, it was a simple matter of extracting the right components from the right plants."
"Where have you been?" Y/N asked unexpectedly, surprising even herself, "The doctor cleared me three days ago, but I haven't seen you in over a week."
He narrowed his eyes slightly at her question, not expecting it. His expression remained as stoic as ever, but there was a hint of surprise in his gaze.
"I've been busy," he replied simply, his tone betraying nothing. "I have many responsibilities and duties that take up much of my time."
"And what duties are those?" She couldn’t help but interrogate him; she was still an MI5 agent after all.
He arched an eyebrow slightly at her question, his eyes fixating on her face. For a brief moment, there was no response. Just a silent, intense stare.
Finally, he spoke, his voice low and even. "The kind that you have no need to know about," he replied, his tone firm but not without a hint of warning.
Stepping forward, Y/N challenged him with a hard stare, “You don't trust me."
"Trust," he said, his tone tinged with a hint of bitterness, "is not easily given or earned.”
"Yet you expected me to trust you." Y/N's eyes flared slightly as she spoke, suddenly angered by his coldness towards her despite everything that happened the night he saved her. “That night, I was expected to go with you without question.”
"Circumstances were different," he retorted firmly, his voice cold and commanding. "You would have died that night if I hadn't intervened. I had no choice but to bring you here. I had to make you trust me."
"And now?" she asked forcefully, "If you don't trust me, why am I still here?"
His gaze shifted at her question, his expression unreadable. For a moment, he said nothing, his eyes fixed on her face. Then he spoke, his voice firm and steady. "I have my reasons," he answered cryptically. "Let's leave it at that."
That angered her even more; she wasn't a damsel in distress and wouldn't just follow him blindly, "Just give me a straight fucking answer."
Lyutsifer’s expression darkened at her anger, his eyes narrowing as he considered her. There was a hint of irritation now in his gaze, but he kept his tone even.
"Your life is still in danger," he explained, his voice firm but not without a trace of fatigue. "The people who sent those men after you still want you dead. As long as they're after you, I can't just let you go."
"In case you've forgotten, I am a trained agent for MI5. I. can. handle. myself."
"Clearly not well enough," he retorted, his voice sharp. His words stung, their meaning clear. He was not just talking about the other night but her skills as an agent in general.
“If you distrust me this much, why even save me? You would've saved yourself a lot of trouble if you'd let them kill me."
For a brief moment, his expression faltered as he looked at her. There was something in his eyes, a flicker of an emotion that he quickly snuffed out.
"I don't trust anyone," he responded simply. "And I have my reasons for everything I do, as I just stated. My reasons for saving you, my reasons for keeping you here. You may not understand or agree with them, but they are not up for debate, and the topic is closed."
"Fuck this." She simply muttered and turned around to walk away.
"Where do you think you're going?" he asked, his voice cool and commanding.
"For a fucking walk!" she yelled at him, turning around to look at him, fury evident in her eyes, "Or do you not trust me enough to do that?"
Her sudden outburst took him aback for a brief moment. His eyes narrowed slightly, his expression hardening again.
"A walk is fine." His tone was firm, with a hint of warning. "Just don't try anything, understand? I have people watching you closely. And if you try to escape, there will be consequences.”
"Noted." And with that, she walked out of the garden and back down the long hallways of the compound. She walked and walked until she knew she was far away from that garden, far away from him.
Finally, Y/N stopped on a balcony that overlooked the sea. To be honest, it was probably more of a lookout than a balcony, but she would take what she could get. Leaning against the concrete half-wall, she let out a long breath before closing her eyes and taking in the feel of the sea air hitting her face.
“Hope I’m not interrupting anything?” A voice suddenly broke her peace, causing her to whip her head around.
She didn’t recognise the man in front of her, but his uniform seemed to show he was a guard here; nevertheless, Y/N was still on edge. “Can I help you?” Y/N asked with narrowed, suspicious eyes.
"Just doing my rounds," he replied, his voice casual but tinged with a hint of arrogance. His eyes lingered on her a tad bit too long, almost as if he was appraising her.
“Well, I’m happy to report that there’s nothing of interest out here, just the sea.” Y/N replied, her body rigid, and she assessed the man in front of her.
He chuckled lightly at her response, his smirk growing and his gaze becoming even more appraising.
"Are you sure about that?" he asked, stepping closer to her and leaning against the half-wall as well. His body was only inches from hers, too close for comfort.
“Actually,” she spoke with determination, “I’m done here; anywhere, it’s all yours.” Y/N slid out from where he’d trapped her against the wall and moved back to the door.
As she moved to walk past him, he reached out and caught her arm, stopping her from leaving. His grip was firm, but not too tight.
"Where are you going in such a rush?" he asked, his voice almost playful now. "Thought you'd be enjoying the view a bit longer."
“If you know what’s good for you,” She warned him with a glare, “You’ll let go of my arm.”
His expression changed to one of mock hurt, the smirk never leaving his lips. "Feisty one, aren't you?" he remarked with a chuckle. "But I doubt you're in any position to make threats.”
Despite her warning, he didn't loosen his grip on her arm. If anything, he pulled her closer, closing the distance between them. In an instant, Y/N's expression changed into something dangerous, and they moved quickly and kneed him right in the crotch.
He staggered back with a sharp yelp of pain, his grip on her arm loosening. "You—ah... you little—" he wheezed out, his hand going down to clutch his crotch as he hunched over.
“I did warn you.” Was all she said.
He grunted and finally righted himself, his face a mask of anger and pain. "You'll—ahh—you'll regret that," he gritted out, glaring at her with a mix of anger and surprise.
Not waiting around, Y/N bolted into the doorway and away from the balcony, seeking the refuge of her assigned room. Yet the man had somehow managed to regain composure quickly and was following closely behind her.
She could hear his heavy footsteps echo behind her as she ran, his pursuit hot and relentless. Despite the fact she had a bit of a head start, he was catching up quickly.
Slamming the door to her room open, she nearly leaped inside, turning around to try and close the door behind her. But the guard was too close on her heels and managed to catch the door just as she was closing it, pushing it back with all his might and forcing his way into her room. He locked the door behind him with a loud click.
“You little fucking bitch,” as the guard spoke, he pushed her harshly towards her bed, “I’m gonna teach you a lesson.”
Y/N scrambled around blindly as she desperately looked for something to defend herself with when her hand brushed against something cold. It was a letter opener, albeit decorative, but Y/N knew it was sharp enough.
Blindly she swung it against him, managing to stab him in the neck. Eyes cold as she watched the man above begin to bleed rapidly, he struggled for a moment and pulled the object out, which only served to cover Y/N in his blood. Eventually, though, his struggling slowed, and he collapsed on top of her dead.
Y/N tried to push him off her, yet her adrenaline was wearing off now, and it wasn’t easy to push someone twice her size off her, especially when they were a literal dead weight.
Suddenly the door was thrown open; Lyutsifer took in the scene before him in one sweeping glance. His eyes landed on Y/N first, taking in her dishevelled appearance and the blood splattered across her clothes. On top of her lay the crumpled form of one of his guards, a letter opener protruding from his neck and a growing pool of blood surrounding his lifeless body.
Lyutsifer’s expression darkened as he took a step closer, his voice low and dangerous. "What in the world..." he began, his eyes flashing as they flicked from Y/N to the guard and back again. "Y/N, what happened here?" he demanded, his tone leaving no room for evasion.
“Just get him off of me, please.” She managed to say with gritted teeth, refusing to explain anything until she could breathe again.
The anger from before was back again. “What happened is your trusted guard attacked me and followed me into my room to do probably exactly what I thought he was going to do.” She spoke quickly; her eyes glared at him. “How can I trust you when these are the men that work for you?”
Her emotions were in overdrive, and all she could think about was the conversation they’s had earlier in the garden, how Safin had demanded her trust yet refused to trust her in return. It was the reason she had walked away, the reason she had ended up on that balcony in the first place.
Safin listened to her, his expression darkening further with each word. A strange mix of anger and something else flickered in his eyes as he took in the scene before him. His gaze lingered on the discarded letter opener, its blade still stained with the guard's blood, before returning to Y/N.
When she finished speaking, he was silent for a moment, his jaw clenched tightly. Finally, he looked at her, his voice flat and emotionless. "You realise you've just killed one of my men."
"He deserved it," she spoke coldly, sitting up now to face him.
He raised an eyebrow at her, his gaze sharp. "Deserved it, did he? And who are you to decide that?" His tone was calm, but there was a dangerous edge to it. He took another step closer to her, closing the distance between them.
"He would've done worse to me," Y/N replied without hesitation, "At least I didn't prolong his suffering."
"You should have run," he said finally, his voice low and even. "Come to me as soon as he started following you."
She bristled slightly at his words, sitting up straighter, “As I've said before, I can fucking handle myself."
"And look where that got you," he retorted with a hint of sarcasm. "You may think you can handle yourself, but clearly, you're in over your head."
"If you had just trusted me, then I wouldn't be in this situation in the first place."
Safin clenched his jaw at her words, a flash of anger passing across his features. He took another step closer to her, towering over her now, his gaze intense and icy.
"Trust?" he repeated, his voice full of scepticism. "You expect me to just trust you after everything that’s happened?"
"Honestly at this point either trust me or just kill me." Y/N spoke with a sigh, completely tired of reiterating the same argument again.
Her words hung in the room; the silence that followed was deafening. His gaze was intense, his eyes searching hers. For a moment, he didn't move, then he sighed heavily.
"You're not making this easy, you know that?" His tone was softer now, but he was still in control. "It's not that simple."
His expression was unreadable. He stared at her for a moment, as if trying to decide how to respond. Then, finally, he spoke. "That kiss was a mistake." His voice was firm, but he didn't sound entirely convinced of his own words.
"That...was a moment of weakness," he admitted, his voice low.
He was caught off guard by her bluntness. His expression shifted, revealing a hint of surprise, before he quickly masked it with a stoic expression.
"That...was a moment of weakness," he admitted, his voice low.
“What about now?"
His expression softened minutely at her question, but he was still guarded, still in control. He took a step closer to her, closing the distance between them.
"What do you mean?" he asked, his voice soft but with a hint of warning.
Instead of answering, she leaned forward, slamming her blood-coated lips against his own. She felt him freeze momentarily, his eyes widening in surprise at her bold move. But he didn't pull away or push her away, his lips responding to hers with a fervour that matched hers. The taste of her blood, mixed with the heat of their kiss, was intoxicating.
Pulling away, she smirked when he subconsciously leaned forward, following her, “Was that a mistake?”
Lyutsifer caught himself just in time, his expression faltering briefly. His eyes flicked to her bloody lips before returning to her gaze, his expression now a mix of desire and something else.
"No," he admitted softly, his voice barely above a whisper. "That was no mistake."
She was still leaned in close enough that as she spoke, her breath grazed against his scarred skin, "If I asked you to trust me, would you?"
He was silent for a moment, contemplating the idea before speaking. "It's not that simple," his voice cautious. "I've given you enough leeway already.”
Irritated to the point of exhaustion, she sighed dramatically before pulling away from him completely. Shuffling off the bed, Y/N stood and began to walk away in the direction of the ensuite bathroom.
"Where are you going?" Lyutsifer called out, his voice betraying a hint of annoyance.
"I'm not going to sleep with someone that doesn't trust me." She answered like it was obvious, "Besides, I need to wash this blood off of me."
"You can't just walk away from me," he called out after her. His words were sharp, but there was an underlying current of something else in his tone. We're not done here."
When Y/N spoke again, her voice was softer now, more resigned to her fate, "I think you've made yourself very clear, Doctor Safin." Stepping back, she held the door to the bathroom ready to close it, "But if you're still here when I'm done, I'd like to discuss going home."
He didn't respond for a moment, his gaze fixed on her, his expression unreadable. But when she spoke about leaving, his eyes darkened perceptively.
"You're not going anywhere," he stated firmly. "Not until I know you're safe."
"I'm not the type of person that overstays a welcome, Lyutisifer," her voice remained soft under his dark expression, "I know when I'm not welcome."
His gaze hardened, the muscles in his jaw tightening as she spoke. He was not used to being defied, especially not by someone he had taken such an interest in.
"It's not about overstaying your welcome," he retorted, his voice low and commanding. "It's about your own safety."
While she didn't respond, Y/N couldn't help but flicker her eyes to the body of the man that had attacked her. Whose blood she now had to wash off.
Safin followed her gaze to the body of the now very dead guard. His eyes flicked back to her, noticing the blood staining her clothes. His expression hardened further as he realised the severity of what happened.
"That should've never happened," he said, his voice flat. His tone implied that he wasn't so much concerned about her being attacked as he was about the fact this had happened under his watch.
"I want to go home..."
He took a step towards her, his expression softening ever so slightly.
"And I want you to be safe." His voice was still firm, but there was a hint of something else, something that sounded like... concern?
"I..." She hesitated, her bottom lip being pulled between her teeth before she spoke, "I can't trust you..."
"And yet you still kissed me." His voice was flat, almost bored, but there was an undercurrent of irritation beneath it.
"You were right..." Y/N spoke, feeling more vulnerable than she ever had in her life, her voice choked with emotion, "This was a mistake." And with those final words, she closed the bathroom door.

Y/N adjusted the arms of her body suit as she walked up to the Washington’s house. She walked next to her best friend Sam as they approached the door. Colour lights were flashing, and a sea of bodies could be seen from the windows outside.
“Do we even bother knocking?” Sam asked while smirking, her hands on her hips.
Y/N shrugged before reaching forward to grab the handle, twisting and watching the door open with ease, “Guess not.”
The two held hands and stepped inside, closing the door behind them. Sam took the lead and guided Y/N through the crowds and into the kitchen, where The Washingtons usually kept the drinks. As they entered, the distinctly slurred voice of an already drunk Chris greeted them.
"Hey, you guys finally made it!” He approached them and pulled them into a little group hug. “I thought I’d have to survive here all by my lonesome.”
The two girls laughed at their friend, even more so at his peculiar costume. “Are you wearing an ascot, Chris?” Y/N asked playfully, flicking at the orange piece of fabric wrapped around his neck.
“Ah well… it was Ashley’s idea,” he explained, pointing to the outfit Ashley was dancing in the crowd; the purple outfit alongside the green headband made it clear who she was dressed as.
"Wow, couples outfits already,” Y/N continued to tease, “I’m impressed, Chris.”
“Oh yeah, well, what exactly made you pick your costume then, huh?” He teased back in return, a blush forming on her face as a result.
The truth is she’d pick her outfit based on one night a few weeks ago when they were all comparing different childhood crushes. The group had all been sitting in the basement when Mike had brought it up. The conversation had quickly devolved into the boys comparing all the women they found hot, specifically video game characters.
“I’m a fine of the classics,” Josh had proudly exclaimed. “I’m kind of ashamed none of you have mentioned Samus. I mean, have you seen her in that blue suit she wears?”
At the time, Y/N had rolled her eyes while the other girls complained to the boys and forced them to change the topic. Yet, when the time came to plan her Halloween costume, her mind instantly went back to that one thing Josh had said. It wasn’t as hard to find the costume as she thought it would be, and so here she stood, leaving nothing to the imagination as the blue bodysuit clung to her body.
“Shut up, Chris,” she chastised him before turning to the kitchen counter and began fixing herself a drink. Her and Sam had drank together as they were getting ready, so she was already slightly tipsy.
“I still can’t believe me and Ash got together before you even confessed to Josh,” he shook his head in mock disappointment.
“Chris I swear to God I will throw you in the pool!” She threatened, Chris placing his hands up in mock surrender.
"Chris, come on, lay off; you know what it's like to have a crush on one of our friends.” Sam spoke up in your defence. Chris looked shameful for a moment and offered you a genuine apology.
“It’s okay,” Y/N hugged him again before noticing Ashley's wandering eyes on the dance floor. “Now go dance with your girlfriend.” She pushed him away in the direction of Ash, smiling as she watched the two hug when they reached each other.
She turned back to the corner and poured her and Sam some drinks while the blonde texted on her phone. Sam thanked her when Y/N passed her the drink before speaking, "Hey, listen, I’m going to go find Hannah; you wanna come?”
“I think just gonna chill here for a bit, you go.” She replied, and after a second reassurance to Sam that 'yes, it was definitely okay.', the blonde left the kitchen in search of her best friend.
Now by herself, Y/N leaned against the kitchen counter and glanced around the party for people she recognised. Chris and Ashley were still on the dance floor holding each other close, and next to them dancing a little more erotically were Jess and Mike. She hadn’t seen Emily and Matt yet, but knowing Emily, she had probably dragged him to the hot tub.
With her eyes focused on the crowd around her, Y/N didn’t see the person slowly creeping next to her. Sliding close, they leaned down and whispered in her ear. “Boo!”
She jumped with a small scream and whipped her head around, coming face to face with the new person. “Josh!” She yelled at him as he laughed, “Don’t do that!”
“Sorry, sorry, I just couldn’t help myself,” he apologised but was still laughing, leaning on the kitchen counter. Josh looked good; he was in a surprisingly simple jean and white t-shirt combo but had topped it off by covering himself in fake blood.
“So who are you supposed to be?” Y/N asked, moving past his little scare.
Instead of answering, he pulled a small white device from his pocket and lifted it to his mouth before speaking, “You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” It seems the device he was using was a voice modulator that deepened Josh’s voice.
"Oh, Billy Loomis!” She pointed at him as she realised, “You look so cool.”
“Thanks,” He replied before looking at her in a way Y/N couldn’t figure out, “You look... well, you lot hot, Y/N.”
She blushed and smiled shyly, "Thanks.”
There was an almost uncomfortably long moment of silence between the two; they both looked away awkwardly, each drawing a long sip from their drinks, “Are you... do you like the party?” Josh broke the party while looking at her expectedly.
“Um yeah!” She replied, and she turned to look at him, “You always know how to plan them.”
“Do you wanna go join Chris and Ash?” He offered gesturing to the dance floor with his thumb.
“Sure.” Y/N allowed Josh to take her hand and lead her onto the dance floor; although they didn’t find Chris and Ashely, they still stayed in the centre of the dance floor.
The crowd cheered as the next song played, and couples quickly gravitated to each other, Y/N blushing as she realised what the song was. However, the drinks were catching up, and her body relaxed as she kept dancing unashamedly.
I'm so into you
I can barely breathe
As she turned slightly as she danced, Y/N felt some hands tentatively reach out and hover by her hips.
And all I wanna do
Is to fall in deep
Turning around, she came face-to-face with Josh. He was looking intently at her eyes, hooded with an unreasonable expression on his face.
But close ain't close enough.
'Til we cross the line,
Before she could lose her nerves, she placed her hands on his and guided them so he was touching her hips.
So name a game to play.
And I'll roll the dice.
She began to gently sway, allowing the gentle rhythm to control her movements. Josh kept a hold on her hips, slowly stroking her side in circular motions as he continued to watch her.
Oh, baby, look what you started.
The temperature's rising in here.
Y/N looked up at Josh, her stomach twisted as she made eye contact with his intense stare. She started to gently sing along to the words as she maintained eye contact, almost gasping as Josh pulled her closer.
Is this gonna happen?
Lifting her arms, she placed them around his shoulders, linking her hands at the back of his neck before pulling him even closer. Y/N continued to sing along, allowing Josh to feel her breath on his skin.
Been waiting and waiting for you to make a move.
Before I make a move
He paused as he listened to the lyrics she was singing, a spark of hope passing through him as he looked at her carefully. “Are you sure?”
“Uh huh” is the only sound she can make out of before pulling him forward and slamming her lips to his. The moment her lips touch Josh’s, her whole mind goes blank. His lips are slightly chapped, and he tastes like beer, but all Y/N wants is more.
She feels his hand squeeze her hips as he pulls her even closer; at this point he’s practically leaning over her. When she gasps into the kiss, Josh takes the opportunity to slide his tongue past her parted lips.
A hand slowly slides from her hips to cup her ass gently. Josh smirked into the kiss as he slowly felt through the thin fabric. “Y/N…” He teases, “Are you not wearing underwear?”
Her face grew hot in embarrassment. "I... the bodysuit was too thin, and I didn’t want them showing.”
"Well, I’m certainly not complaining." Josh replied, giving her ass a rough squeeze, “If anything, it just makes you hotter.”
All Y/N can do in reply is pull him back down into another heated kiss. She whined into the kiss and subconsciously ground herself forward into him. Letting out a strangled moan that was drowned out from the music, Josh pulled back from the kiss so he could whisper in her ears.
“Do you wanna take this somewhere private?” His breath was warm against her ears.
“Yeah.” She lets Josh grab her hand and lead her through the crowd. They left the dance floor and made their way upstairs and walked down a long corridor full of couples just making out. Eventually the pair stopped in front of what she recognised as Josh’s room.
“Gimme me a second,” Josh said before pulling out a key. “Didn’t want any strangers doing it on my bed, so I locked it.”
Y/N leant against the wall, giggling as she watched him struggle with the lock for a moment before he was able to swing the door open. He pushed the door open, flicking the light switch on so the room was filled with a dim light. He grabbed Y/N’s hand again, leading her inside and quickly closing the door behind her.
As soon as the door was shut, he pushed her against it, pinning her there with his body as his lips found her neck. He started kissing and gently biting at her skin, smirking into her skin at the little whines she made.
“You have no idea... how much I’ve thought about doing this.” He whispered into her skin, causing shivers to spread through her body.
She pushed him backwards towards the bed and shoved him so he was sitting on the edge of it. “I think I might be able to guess,” she spoke seductively, and she carefully kneeled in front of him.
He leaned back against his elbows as he watched her, his eyes trailing down her body slowly. She leant forward and slowly moved her hands from his thighs up to his crotch, smirking at him as she felt his arousal through his jeans.
“I turn you on that much?” Y/N asked him as her hands absentmindedly stroked him through his clothes.
"Mhm," he hummed out, biting his lower lip slightly. Josh's hands gripped at the sheets, his hips slowly rocking against her hands as a quiet moan left his lips.
She giggled in pleasure at his reaction to her touch, moving her hands to his belt as she fiddled with the buckle. Once the belt was undone, Y/N quickly undid his jeans so she could pull them down, struggling slightly from her position.
Josh lifted his hips as much as he could to make it easier for her; once they were at his ankles, she lifted his feet to pull them off completely. Now only in his boxers, she went back to palming his arousal.
“Fuck Y/N!” He moaned, the feeling of her hands more noticeable through the thin fabric. “You gotta stop, or this is gonna be very disappointing for the both of us.”
When she didn’t stop, he reached down to grab her wrists to pull her hand away. His eyes were closed as he tried to catch his breath, still holding on to her wrist. “Shit… just gimme a minute.” Josh said between breaths.
Y/N pulled her wrist away from his grasp and stood up, moving close to him. She lifted his chin so he was looking at her. Without looking away, she moved even closer to straddle his legs. His hands moved to rest on the upper part of her thighs.
Josh leant forward so their lips touch, pulling back away she followed, lips still connected in a heated kiss. Y/N placed her hand behind his neck before dragging them up and into his hair, causing him to groan against her mouth. She rocked herself against him, gasping as she was able to feel his cock against her pussy between the two thin layers between them.
He hissed from the contact, wrapping one arm tightly around her hip so he could push her closer. His free hand moved from her thigh, gripping the back of your head and tangling itself into her hair.
“Fuck… I need you.” She said between kisses and small moans before pulling away to yank his jumper above his head, which he gladly raised his arms to help with.
In a quick motion, Josh picked Y/N up and turned to put her on the bed. He crawled on top of her so his body rested over hers, one hand gripping her hip, as the other rested above her head as he propped himself up.
“Wait!” She said as Josh started kissing the shell of her ear. “I need to take off the bodysuit.”
He laughed in her ear before responding, “You said you weren’t wearing any underwear right?”
“Yeah… why?”
Josh slowly pushed away from her ear and moved back to look Y/N in the eyes, an evil smirk slowly forming on his face.
"Well, in that case..." He leaned back further, slowly sliding down her body and kneeling on the bed, “Spread your legs.”
She looked at him suspiciously but still slowly spread her legs for him. He moved further down on the bed, sitting back on his heels so he was level with her hips. He let his fingers slide along her thighs slowly, but then suddenly gripped the thin fabric of her bodysuit and pulled. Y/N's eyes grew wide as she heard a loud rip and felt the cold air on her now bare skin.
“Josh!” She yelled at him, earning a simple smirk in reply. Y/N was about to chastise him but was cut off by her own moan, caused by Josh’s tongue now massaging her folds.
He smiled and hummed into your folds at the sounds you made, causing you to moan louder from the vibration and reach down to pull his face closer. “Josh… please… oh fuck.”
Josh was relentless; as he continued to lap up her juices, he used his fingers to gently rub circles into her clit. His other hand then moved in to her entrance as he slowly inserted a single finger and slowly began to thrust into her.
“I-I’m gonna…” Y/N could barely speak as she was hitting her peak.
“Do it, lemme taste you.” He pulled back to speak before moving back, this time inserting a second finger as he licked. It was too much for Y/N, as she orgasmed not long after. She was thankful the music was so loud downstairs; hopefully it drowned out the sound of her scream.
“Mmhm,” Y/N barely heard Josh through her euphoria. “This might be my favourite taste.”
He lifted his head up from between her legs and looked into her eyes, asking a question without talking. Understanding what he meant, Y/N noted and allowed him to slide himself back on top of her. He paused for a moment, throwing of his boxers, reaching across to his bedside drawer, and pulled out a condom, making sure it was on, before he fully propped himself up above her.
“Are you sure?” He asked verbally this time, giving her a chance to back out as he lined himself up with her cunt.
“Please just fuck me.”
“With pleasure.” With that, he carefully inserted himself, closing his eyes in pleasure, “Shit Y/N, you’re so tight.”
He went slowly, giving her a chance to readjust to his size, stopping once he was fully inserted. Eventually Y/N started moving her hips to his in little thrusts, “I need you to move.”
Slowly he pulled his cock out of her cunt almost to the tip before suddenly slamming himself back, causing Y/N’s back to arch as she screamed out in pleasure. As he found his rhythm, she lifted her legs and wrapped them around his waist, creating a new angle that allowed him to go deeper.
"Fuck, shit.. go faster." She could barely speak between moans, as she felt the pressure building again.
Josh happily obeyed her and picked up the pace, slamming into her harder and faster. They looked into each other’s eyes for a moment before Y/N pulled him down into a heated kiss as his thrusts continued.
A low moan escaped Josh's lips as their lips met once more. Neither of them were thinking clearly anymore, too consumed in their own primal lust. He wanted her, all of her.
He pulled out for a moment, gripping her bodysuit from where he’d torn it previously. His muscles tensed as he pulled it apart again; it split upwards, exposing her entire front. With some quick manoeuvring, Josh was able to pull her arms and legs out of the tight fabric, leaving her completely naked.
“Oh god, Y/N, you’re so fucking beautiful." He said before entering her cunt again, thrusting far more erratically than before. When Josh felt his arms begin to give, he held onto Y/N’s waist and flipped them so she was now on top. “Ride me, baby.”
She took a breath, readjusted herself, and slowly began to rock. The feeling of Y/N slowly rocking over him caused a low moan to escape his lips, his fingers digging into her hips.
“Josh… I think gonna cum..." Y/N moaned out as the pressure increased again, indicating she was near her peak.
“Me too… Just keep moving,” he groaned out, pushing her down onto him by her hips. She moved faster and faster, chasing the high that she knew was coming.
Y/N threw her head back as her second orgasm ripped through her; she heard Josh groan as her cunt clenched around his cock. He came not soon after, the tightness causing him to spill into the condom. When she came down from her orgasm, she collapsed on top of him; her body felt numb, and she could barely catch her breath.
After pulling out of her, Josh gently pushed Y/N of him so she was lying at her side. “Just lay there a sec; I’ll be right back.”
She watched him stand from the bed, still completely naked, and make his way into his bathroom. He came back moments later with two glasses of water and a towel draped over his shoulder.
“Here, sit up and drink.” Josh said as he gave her his hand to help pull her upwards before handing her one of the glasses. As she drank, he parted her legs again and tenderly wiped her with the towel, making sure she would be comfortable in the morning.
Once he finished wiping her, he moved to his drawer and pulled out a T-shirt and two boxers. Josh walked back over to Y/N and helped her place his shirt over her shoulders and slide his boxers over her legs. After putting the second pair of boxers on himself, he lay back down next to her.
“Shouldn’t you get back to the party?” She asked as Josh pulled her to his side. “You are the host after all.”
“Nah, Hannah and Beth can deal with the guests,” he replied, pulling the covers over the both of them. “I much prefer this to any party.”
When she hummed in agreement and closed her eyes, Josh smiled softly and leant down to kiss her head before also closing his eyes. They could hear the muffled beat of the party still happening downstairs as they both slipped into sleep, Y/N resting her head on his chest as he held her close.

Chapter 5. Minor Complications
Mitsuko had been in the hospital for three more days before Dr. Cullen finally came in with the good news: she was going home.
Yet when Charlie walked through the door to collect her instead of her mom, her relief quickly turned into an uncertain sense of fear. As they walked down the hallway together, several nurses stopped what they were doing and looked at her in sympathy.
Surely nurses would look more relieved than sympathetic when a patient has been deemed healthy enough to leave? At least that's what Mitsuko thought.
It was worse when she got home. Her mom was home; her car was in the driveway, which meant she could've come to get her, but for some reason she didn't.
Charlie guided her into her house and straight into the living room, where her mother was sitting, but she wasn't alone. In the room, sitting on the opposite couch from where her mom was sitting, were two other officers. One of them had a notebook open with several lines of writing on its pages, but Mitsuko was too far away to see clearly what it said.
Her steps slowed until she halted just at the entryway of the living room; she looked around cautiously as she spoke, "What's going on?"
As she spoke, all heads moved to where she was standing; Charlie moved past her before turning back to her with a strange expression on his face, "Why don't you take a seat, kid?"
"No," she refused. "Just tell me what's going on!"
It was at this moment her mom stood and took a step towards her: "It's Hoshi."
The pit in her stomach grew. "What about Hoshi?"
"She left three days ago, said she was having a sleepover," her mom explained, choking up slightly as she spoke, "but she hasn't come home, and the girl she said she was staying with hasn't seen Hoshi since Monday last week."
The room grew silent as they awaited Mitsuko's reaction to the news, but she found herself frozen, unable to speak or even move her face. Concerned, her mom stepped forward and grabbed onto her arm, shaking her slightly to get her attention. "Miko, honey, do you understand what I told you?"
She shook herself slightly before finally responding, "Hoshi's gone missing?"
"I'm afraid so, kid," Charlie chimed in. "We've got officers canvassing the area, and we're also in touch with Seattle police in case she's ended up there."
Seattle. Of course.
At the mention of the city, Mitsuko's eyes shined with recognition. She thought back to the conversation she had those three days ago in the hospital room. Hoshi had promised she wouldn't do anything without her sister, but Mitsuko had forgotten how stubborn her little sister could be.
All she could do in that moment was slowly nod her head before speaking with a slight tremble, "I'm... going to head to my room."
She began walking away, only turning around when her mom called after her, "I just need some time to process... this."
Turning back around, she climbed the stairs and made her way into her room. Where she stayed for nearly two full days. After the second day, Angela and Jess had come to visit her, having heard the news and wanting to check on her.
Instead of seeing the usual smiling face, the two were greeted by the sight of Mitsuko staring intently at a map of Seattle she'd pulled up on her computer.
"Suki?" Angela had called in an attempt to get her attention, "Everyone's really worried about you; your mom says you haven't come out in two days."
When that didn't get a response, Jessica sighed and stomped over and yanked the computer's power cord from the wall. "Seriously, Suki, this isn't going to help anyone!"
That seemed to have gotten a reaction from Mitsuko, who twisted her head to face her friends with a dark expression.
"What do you want me to do, Jess?" Her eyes quickly filling with tears as her face crumbled. "I can't act like nothing has happened; she's gone!"
"We're not asking you to do that!" Jess argued back, "But we both know Hoshi wouldn't want you torturing yourself over trying to find her."
"I'm just so afraid she'll end up like..." She couldn't finish that sentence, but it was clear her friends understood at least to some degree. Yet they'd never understand just how much she didn't want Riley and Hoshiko to share the same fate.
"You shouldn't think like that." Jess chastised her again, "The investigation is still ongoing; for all we know, she's run off to watch one of those bands she likes so much on tour."
It was so like Jess to think that way; there was always a best-case scenario that she would remind people of. Maybe it was because she hadn't experienced much hardship, or maybe that was the only way Jess knew how to comfort her friends.
"Maybe you're right," Mitusko finally admitted, "I just can't stand the thought of her being alone and hurt somewhere."
Angela stepped forward again, pulling her friend into a tight hug. "We know, but we, as your friends, have a responsibility to make sure you're okay."
All she could do was nod before burying her face into her friend's shoulder. They stayed like that for a few minutes, with Jess eventually joining in and making it a group hug. After a while they pulled away, and Angela gently reached out to wipe away her friend's tears.
"How about we have a nice night in and watch a cheesy chick flick?" She suggested, to which Mitsuko smiled softly and nodded.
The three of them spent the night curled up on Mitsuko's bed as Legally Blonde played on the small TV in her room. When the movie had finished, it was already dark, so Angela and Jess bid their friend goodbye and left.
With her friends gone, the silence became suffocating once again, but the presence of her friends had helped heal at least a little bit of the damage in Mitsuko's heart.
She'd finally crawled out of bed to have a quick shower, groan in pleasure from finally feeling clean again. With her hair still wet, she'd then thrown her pyjamas on and shuffled back under the covers. After only a few minutes, she felt herself drifting off in a deep slumber.
Knock knock knock
Mitsuko's eyes flew open at the sound of the furious banging against her bedroom window. Disoriented, she glanced at the clock on her bedside table to see it read 3:46 am.
Thinking it was just the branches of the tree outside hitting against the glass, she simply pulled the cover over her tighter and closed her eyes. Thankfully she was tired enough that it didn't take long for her to begin drifting again.
Knock knock knock
The banging continued, but it seemed to be getting louder and more frequent. This time she sat up and reached over to flick on her bedside lamp. It took a few moments for her eyes to adjust before she could stand and slowly approach her window. It was too dark for her to see what was outside, so all she could do was unlatch it and swing it open.
The moment she did, she was almost knocked to the ground when a large body jumped in through the now open window. Before she could shout in alarm, a cold hand covered a mouth, followed by a harsh hiss.
"Shhh," The voice whispered, "It's me, Suki. It's just me."
Her eyes focused on the face in front of her, and her breath hitched in surprise. She tried to speak but was muffled under the hand on her mouth. "Hoshi?"
"If I move my hand away, you're not going to scream, are you?" Her sister asked, to which all she could do was nod.
The hand was slowly removed from her mouth as Hoshiko took a step away, keeping what she deemed a safe distance from her older sister. The distance also allowed Mitsuko to fully take in her sister's appearance.
Although she looked similar to how she did only a few days ago, she was also somehow completely unrecognisable. Yet the thing that stuck out the most, the thing that made the pit settle back in Mitsuko's stomach, was her eyes. The once dark brown, almost pitch black, was gone, replaced by a startling crimson red. Just like Riley's.
"What happened to you?" Was all she could say, breaking the silence that had fallen between them.
"I don't know..." Hoshiko muttered, even her voice was different, "It's all just like a blur; one moment I'm talking to you in the hospital, and the next I'm... burning."
She bit her lip from her nerves before speaking again, "Hoshi, your eyes are..."
"I know..." her sister spoke, "I saw them in a mirror, not long after I woke up."
The expression of absolute confusion and defeat on her sister's face made Mitsuko's heart ache once more. Without thinking, she took several rapid steps forward before pulling her little sister into her arms.
"Fuck..." She couldn't help but cry out when the rock-hard body slammed into her, "Sorry, you're like a boulder."
"Yeah, sorry about that." Her sister rested her head on her shoulder but kept her hands at her side, not trusting her newfound strength. "Turns out I'm like super strong or something now."
Mitsuko pulled back from the hug to look at her sister once more. "How did you even get back here?"
"I ran." Was all Hoshiko willing to say at the moment, "I think I have super speed too."
"Are you saying you've turned into some kind of superhero or something?"
"I think mutant might be a more accurate description." Hoshiko joked, a small smile on her face.
"Shit." The oldest said, looking down with a stressed expression, her hands going to rest on her hips.
"Yeah, I know." She sighed, running her hand through her hair. "But I think with some practice, I can learn to control it.
Instead of agreeing, Mitsuko shook her head before speaking again, "No, I mean how are we gonna tell Mom about this?"
Pause.
"Shit."
Did you account for the things I am good at?
Spencer: I have a bad feeling about this...
Hana: What do you mean?
Spencer: Don't you ever get that little voice in your head that tells you if you're going to get into trouble?
Hana: No?
JJ: That actually explains so much.
'Cherry' | Fem!Y/N x Lyutsifer Safin
Masterlist Y/N is working undercover at a Strip Club in Vegas when she encounters Safin meeting with a potential supplier for his newest concoction, usually a top performing agent she suddenly finds herself being unable to tell a lie. (Word Count: 2553)
Warnings: Guns, Blood, Death, Drug usage, Drink spiking (but not by Safin)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“I said this was a terrible idea...” Y/N said as she adjusted the tight leather dress she’d been forced to wear.
“We just need to get the benefactor’s name; it shouldn’t take much longer.” Q explained as he checked his surveillance gear; he usually didn’t leave London, but Y/N had specifically requested Q join her as she trusted him the most.
“It’s been two weeks, Q...”
“Apparently someone’s booked the VIP booth tonight, so this might be the last night you have to do.”
MI6 had been trailing a possible drug ring that operated in Las Vegas; rumours had spread a drug that completely erases a person's ability to lie, making them more controllable. As one of the youngest female agents, Y/N was assigned to go undercover at one of the target strip clubs and figure out who was funding the operation. They’d found a job at a club called ‘Bunny Girls’ and inserted Y/N in as Cherry, the club’s newest waitress.
“Anyway, you’re running late for your shift, so go go go.” As he spoke, Q pushed her out of the small building he’d been operating from. Once Y/N was outside, she huffed before walking around the corner and entering the club she was undercover at.
"Cherry, just the girl I want to see.” The club owner greeted her as she entered the dressing room, “The VIP booth is booked tonight, so I want all your attention on our big spenders.”
Y/N bat her eyes, taking on the role of Cherry once again. “Sure thing, boss,” she said, earning an appreciative look from the owner. Once he left, she sat down in her chair and started getting ready.
When the club opened an hour later, Y/N had her hair curled and her makeup completed, the glitter on her eyes making them sparkle under the club. Standing, she readjusted her dress one more time before making her way on to the main club floor.
“Hey Cherry!” John, the barman, greeted her as she stepped behind the bar. “You dressed up pretty tonight.”
She repressed the urge to roll her eyes; ever since she’d gone undercover, John had taken every opportunity to shamelessly flirt with her. According to the other girls, he took it as tradition to sleep with all the new starters.
“I’m dressed the same as I usually do, John,” Y/N stated, and she started getting the VIP buckets prepped, filling them with ice.
He simply smiled at her. “I know..." John titled his down as she crouched to pull out the bottles for the ice buckets. “But I think you get hotter every night.”
“Does that line usually work?” She stood back up and started placing the bottle in the buckets.
“Don’t pretend it isn’t working on you.” He leans into her space as he speaks; Y/N backs up slightly.
“I’ve got a job to do so…” As she speaks, she gestures to the two buckets she needed to take to the VIP booth.
"Well, before you go, at least taste test my newest drink.” She sees a shot glass slide across the counter in front of her. “It’s cherry-flavoured.”
Y/N is about to say no; tell him to fuck off with his desperate attempts to seduce her, but instead she just sighs and drinks the shot quickly so she can continue this night without any more problems. He’s right, it does taste like cherries; it’s sweet and a little tart, but Y/N still finds herself enjoying it. Placing the glass down, she turns to John, “Happy now?”
“Very, now go on; we can talk later.” He had a strange look on his face, but Y/N decided to just leave it until later. She walks back out of the bar while carrying the two buckets, heading to the VIP booth.
In the booth are what seems to be two different groups of men, clearly some ‘business’ discussing some type of criminal partnership. One group Y/N recognises as an infamous casino owner and drug dealer in Las Vegas, but the other is an enigma. Her eyes scan the second group; they seem more professional than the first group. The first group greets her with cheers and whistles while they keep their expressions guarded.
Sitting in the middle of the booth are the two leaders of the groups. The first group’s leader is an older man, dressed in what you’d expect a mob boss to dress in. The second is younger but still mature-looking; his face is covered in scarring that reminds Y/N of lighting; it’s eerily beautiful. His blue eyes are calculating as he looks at her; he seems almost amused.
Shaking off his gaze, Y/N retakes her ‘Cherry’ persona: “Hello Gentlemen, welcome to Bunny Girls; I’m Cherry, and I’ll be your waitress this evening; anything you need, just give me a call.” She finishes her introduction with a flirty wink.
The scarred man doesn’t speak to her instead choosing to whisper to his companion, who looks at her. Instead, the other leader turns to her with a leer. “This is why I like this place; they always give us the pretty ones.”
He gestures to the space between him and the scarred man, “Come sit with us, darling.”
Y/N hesitates for a moment and glances at the scarred man subconsciously, who simply gives her a subtle nod. As she moves towards the empty space beside him, her heart beats faster. She feels the man’s gaze on her, causing shivers to spread through her body.
The other man put his arm around her shoulder and pulled her to him, leaning in close. “What’s a pretty thing like you working in a place like this?”
Her body feels hot suddenly, and thinking it’s just from the men's body heat, she ignores it. “Just making sure you lovely gentlemen enjoy your night.” She answers, but a part of her feels compelled to keep speaking; she bites her lip to stop herself.
“Not what I mean, darling,” the man responds, “I mean, how’d a girl like you end up here and not under the arm of some billionaire?”
Without thinking, she blurts out an answer: "Well, I didn’t want to work here, but my boss made me.”
‘Why are you saying this?’ Y/N thinks confused with herself; her mind feels cloudy, and her body starts to loosen. She keeps thinking back to that cherry-flavoured shot she’d drank. ‘Shit… I’ve been drugged.
The scarred man leans back to look at her; his eyes suggest he’s thinking of something. “Interesting…” His voice is deep and hoarse with a thick Russian accent. “And why did he make you work here?”
“We need information on a potential drug ring; the drug currently circulating could compromise The Crown’s security.” She needed to get out of here before she’d kept talking, but she couldn’t move.
He leaned in closer, assessing her carefully. Close enough to smell, she inhaled sharply—florals and something else. Y/N felt out of control; her body wasn’t computing with her mind anymore. He spoke in a low whisper, “And why would a girl like you care about the safety of the crown?”
This was bad; it was clear this man knew Y/N had been drugged. “She’s a goddam spy!” The other man yelled alarm as he pulled his hand away and stood, his men following suit. He pulled out his pistol and aimed it towards her.
The scarred man's smirk widened as he watched the scene play out, the revelation of her identity causing a shift in the room. The other man is now pointing a weapon at her. He remained calm, unmoving. He was amused by the development, intrigued by the young women.
"A spy? How intriguing." He leaned forward, his eyes locking with hers, his voice dripping with a hint of mockery.
"You have quite the nerve, Miss..." He let the question hang in the air, waiting for her response.
“Y/L/N, Y/N Y/L/N.” She said through gritted teeth, still trying to resist the effects of the drugs, forcing her body to stand.
Safin chuckled softly, appreciating her determination. "Miss Y/L/N..." He savoured the way her name rolled off his tongue. "How interesting, a spy from MI6.”
He watched her struggle to stand, her attempts to resist the effects of the drugs in vain. His eyes scanned her figure and the way her body moved uncontrollably. There was something so enticing about the way she was fighting, the way she was losing her composure.
He stood slowly, walking towards her. His voice was low, almost seductive. Y/N was overwhelmed with how this man was able to effect her, but trying to regain her dignity, she held her head high and responded, “You never introduced yourself, sir.”
"Ah, forgive me, where are my manners?” He spoke, standing to move in front of her, his eyes predatory. “I am Doctor Lyutsifer Safin.”
She stepped back from him in fear but froze when she felt the end of the gun. The other man was still aiming towards her. The man she now knew as Safin watched her carefully, “Leave us; we will discuss our business later.” He spoke to the other group, not taking his eyes off the young agent.
The other men left without hesitation, their gazes lingering on Safin and the young agent before they exited the VIP booth. As soon as they were alone, the atmosphere changed drastically. The club around them was still alive—the music, the laughter, the dancing. She could hear the announcer introduce another girl as the crowd cheered. But in their isolated vicinity, it was almost quiet, almost intimate.
He took another step towards her. “You... don’t know who I am, do you?”
“Should I?" She couldn’t move, allowing him to take a mother step forward, their chests almost touching.
He smiled slightly amused by her response, reaching a hand to trace his finger along her jawline, his touch as light as a feather. “You’re the one undercover, spying on my people.”
“I was given a very... limited mission assignment.” She explained, giving up on stopping herself when it was clear nothing could, “We didn’t know who we were looking for.”
His touch became more purposeful, fingertips gliding down her arm, feeling her body shiver under his touch. His eyes roamed over her face, observing her closely. "Who sent you here, Miss Y/L/N?"
“I think you already know," she spoke, trying to hold onto the last piece of information her drugged mind hadn’t given up.
His eyes narrowed slightly, and his hand moved to her waist, pulling her closer. His voice was a whisper; she could feel his breath on her neck. “I want you to say it out loud.”
Y/N clenched her eyes shut, unable to hold back any longer, “I work for MI6.”
She heard Safin hum seemingly pleased with her response. His grip on her waist tightened, his fingers digging into her flesh just a little harder.
He leaned in even closer, his lips almost touching her neck, his breath hot and heavy against her skin.
"Good girl..." he murmured. "Now tell me, are you alone in this operation?”
"I...” she could feel herself speak, about to expose the entire operation, when another dancer, Honey, stepped into the booth. “Cherry, you’re needed at the bar.”
Safin's eyes met those of the dancer. His gaze hardened at the unexpected intrusion, but he let go of Y/N. He took a step back, looking between the two women. "Miss Y/L/N and I are still having our conversation."
Sensing an opportunity to escape, Y/N moved to the entrance of the booth before speaking, “I should go see what they need; it was a pleasure meeting you, Doctor Safin.”
She left before he could react, but instead of going to the bar, she went to the dressing room. Grabbing her bag, she escaped through the backdoors, hoping to reconvene with Q. As she moved through the parking lot, texting Q that she’d been compromised, a voice behind her made her freeze. “Going somewhere?”
As she turned, she came face to face with John, but his face was different from his usual personality. His eyes were dark and narrow as he stared at her. Her hand reached into her grab to grip her gun, and she spoke, “You drugged me.”
John chuckled at her accusation, clearly amused by her realisation. "Drugged you? I was simply making you comfortable.”
“What did you give me?” She asked, thankful the night air was helping to clear her head. “Where did you get it from?”
“A friend of mine hooked me up; it's... experimental, but most of the girls have enjoyed it.” John admitted no longer seeing the need to hide, taking a step forward.
As he began to approach, Y/N pulled her gun from her pocket, aiming at him. “Stay right there!”
John smirked at her, nearly laughing, “Give me a break; you’re just a stripper... what damage could you do?”
“You have no idea." She tried to steady her hand, but it still trembled slightly. She was coming down from the drug, but it’d still be a while.
Josh ignored the gun and began to run towards her, planning to ambush her and knock her down. He nearly reached her when suddenly his body fell and blood sprayed on her face. Y/N looked at her in confusion; she hadn’t fired.
Her eyes looked from her gun down to John's body, breathing heavily from the adrenaline. She looked up from the body and was face-to-face once again with Safin. He was holding a small silenced pistol, the muzzle still smoking.
Y/N shuffles on her feet slightly under his intense stare. He seems allured by the crimson splatter now staining her face, stepping closer, causing her to take a step back. She’s still breathing heavily and tries to catch her breath.
“Most people would thank the person that saved their life.” He spoke as he calmly handed his gun to his second in command.
“I had it handled.”
"Oh, I’m sure you did.” Safin replied almost mockingly.
A car’s horn sounded, causing Y/N to finally turn away from him; just down the road, she recognised the lights of Q’s car. Without speaking again, she sprinted down the street and flung the door open. Throwing her bag in, she was about to jump inside too, but she paused. Turning back for a moment, her eyes once again met the piercing blue of Lyutsifer Safin, and you both knew this wouldn’t be the last encounter.
As Y/N hopped into the car, she ignored Q’s rapid questions and closed her eyes. She sighed as she ran through the last hour through her head; her face was still wet with John’s blood, but she didn’t have the energy to wipe it off. Resting her head on the window, she fell asleep as her friend quickly drove them away from Las Vegas and towards their extraction point.
Safin watched as the car you entered pulled away and quickly raced from the scene; it was only as the car turned the corner did he finally look away. He briefly looked at the body on the ground before he began giving orders to his men. “Get rid of the body,” he stated as he began to walk away, “and find me anything you can on Y/N Y/L/N”.

VI. Midnight Circles
By four o’clock in the morning the two sisters had created what they thought was a solid plan in how to break the news to their mom. The most important part of the plan was that they should definitely wait until morning, rather than waking her up at nearly four in the morning.
“Could you sleep with me tonight?” Mitsuko asked as she slipped into bed, unwilling for Hoshiko to leave her side just yet. She didn’t want her to disappear again.
“I can’t…” Hoshiko replied, her face suddenly distressed. “I mean, I can’t sleep.”
“At all?”
She nodded before elaborating further, “I tried to, yesterday, but… nothing.”
“Could you…” Mitsuko hesitated for a moment. “Lie with me anyway?”
The younger sister simply smiled at her sister softly before stepping forward and sinking into the empty space next to Mitsuko. The eldest pulled the cover over them before reaching across and pulling the younger sister close.
However, as soon as Hoshiko was pulled close to Mitsuko’s throat, she tensed suddenly in her sister’s arms. Concerned, she pulled away to look at her sister in concern, only to be met by dark black eyes.
“Hoshi, is everything okay?” She asked her sister, who still hadn’t moved.
“You smell so…” Suddenly Hosiko interrupted herself by nearly flinging herself across the room, hitting the wall behind, causing the house to shake.
Mitsuko stood to follow her sister but was stopped by a deep growl coming from the younger girl, “Stay back!”
“I don’t under—“ This time Mitsuko was cut off by a furious pounding on their front door.
The two sisters were still for a moment, staring at each other as they listened to banging on the door. As they simply stood there, the distinct sound of their mom's door opening echoed through the house, followed quickly by her footsteps.
“Mom!” Mitsuko called out, moving to her door and stepping out from her room, her sister cautiously following behind her, still keeping a sizeable distance.
By the time the sisters had moved from her room and downstairs, their mom was already at the door and opened it.
“Doctor Cullen?” Their mom said as she opened the door, “It’s the middle of the night!”
“I am aware, Mrs Tanaka; apologies for disturbing you,” Carlisle said with a neutral expression. “I need to speak to your daughters.”
“I’m Carlisle, but only Mitsuko is here; Hoshi is—“
“Right here!” Hoshiko spoke up, stepping forward with her eyes now narrowed at the people at the door. Carlisle wasn’t alone; next to him on either side stood Emmett and Jasper.
Not noticing the sudden tension, Chiyo quickly turned her head to look at her youngest daughter. “Hoshiko… Where have you been? I’ve been worried sick!”
Yet before she could approach her daughter, Carlisle grabbed her arm and pulled her closer to him. “Mrs Tanaka, please stay where you are.”
As Carlisle pulled Chiyo behind him, Jasper stepped forward, eyes focused on Mitsuko as she stood in front of her sister. “Mitsuko, please come here.”
“No.” She refused, “She’s not going to hurt me!”
“Suki…” She turned to face her younger sister, who was looking at her with a deeply pained expression. “You should go stand with them.”
Mitsuko took a moment to look at her sister, really look at her. Alongside the pained expression on her face, Mitsuko realised that Hoshiko was gripping the bannister of the stairs so strongly that she was nearly snapping the wood in half.
Suddenly she found her body becoming stiff and beginning to move without her trying, turning around and walking towards where Jasper and Emmett were standing. As she got closer to them, she felt a cold hand softly wrap around her wrist before pulling her the rest of the way. Now she found herself hidden behind Jasper, who was standing protectively between her and her little sister.
“Will someone tell me what is happening?” Chiyo exclaimed as she looked rapidly between her two daughters in concern.
"I'm afraid we can't tell you…" Carlisle responded cryptically, "But it's imperative your daughters come with us right now."
Instead, she forcefully pointed at the doctor, something she usually only did to her daughters when they were in trouble. “No, they’re not going anywhere until you tell me what is going on.”
“I’m a vampire now, aren’t I?” Hoshiko suddenly questioned, causing everyone’s attention to shift towards her again. “I’ve read Dracula before; I’m not stupid.”
Mitsuko noticed her mom become quiet at Hoshiko’s question, her body stock still at the mention of vampires. Yet before she could ask her, she was interrupted when Carlisle spoke up again, “Mrs Tanaka I really must insist that your daughters come with us right now.”
“But it’s four in the morning!” She spoke again, gesturing to herself as a way to emphasise that she was currently only in a nightgown.
“Listen, we need to get her out of here before a certain group finds Hoshiko here.” Jasper spoke with authority, speaking to them all as if they were officers in the army. “So get dressed if you have to, but we need to leave now.”
This was how Mitsuko found herself sitting in the back of Carlisle Cullen’s car, Jasper next to her as a way to separate the two sisters, something she still didn’t understand was necessary.
Within ten minutes they were already pulling up in front of the Cullens’ woodland house. Outside stood the rest of the Cullen family; they were in a uniformed line and clearly on guard.
When Mitsuko stepped out, she was quickly accosted by Alice and Emilie, who pulled her between them and held her firmly in place. Jasper followed, now standing behind her, creating a protective triangle.
“Why’d you bring her? She’s just a stupid human.” Rosalie had muttered quietly, yet despite being on the other side of the semicircle, Mitsuko heard her crystal clear and bristled slightly.
“Hey!” She couldn’t help but yell at the blonde, whose eyes widened slightly in surprise, “There’s no need to be rude!”
“How did you—“ “Rosalie.” Carlisle interrupted before she could finish her question, “Not now; we have something more important to discuss.”
At that moment, Hoshiko finally stepped out of the car but stayed stock still in front of it. Her eyes flittered between each person with a cold, calculated look in a way Mitsuko had seen her do countless times, usually when she felt trapped.
“We’re not here to hurt you,” Edward spoke up, seemingly reading her distress. “We just want to know what happened.”
Yet before Hoshiko could even begin to explain, Edward’s face changed, and he spoke again, “She found the army.”
“In Seattle?”
“Someone turned her, but she didn’t see who; the only person in her memories I recognise is Riley Biers.”
“What do you mean by her memories?” Mitsuko spoke up again, “Matter of fact, nothing you’re saying is making any sense. Can someone please explain?”
“Hoshiko is right,” Carlisle began to explain. “She has been turned into a vampire, just like my family and I.”
Pause.
“You’re saying my sister is a vampire now?” She asked, “Like from Buffy?”
“We’re way cooler than that.” Emmett spoke with a grin, earning a small slap on the back of his head from Rosalie.
“Right… But wait,” she continued, giving Emmett a small smile before continuing, “Was I attacked by a vampire that night?”
She tried to ignore how Jasper stiffened behind her at the mention of that night and moved to take his hand into hers, providing a comfort she instinctively wanted to give.
“You saw Riley that night, didn’t you?” Edward asked her, but it was clear he already knew the answer.
“Yeah, he seemed… different, angrier. I don’t think he even fully recognised me.”
“He's a newborn, still within his first year,” Carlisle began to explain. “He wouldn’t have been in full control of himself.”
Her face furrowed in thought as she tried to remember that night; in all the fury and violence, there was one thing that was clear: Riley’s teeth sinking into her neck. So she asked the question, “Does everyone that gets bitten turn into a vampire?”
“To my knowledge, yes.”
That made Mitsuko pause in thought, nervously wetting her lips before speaking, Then why didn’t I?”
At her question, she noticed how Carlisle glanced from her to Jasper with an indecipherable expression before looking back to her, answering honestly, “We don’t know yet.”
Turning around, she narrowed her eyes in suspicion as she analysed the expression on Jasper’s face, which seemed to be intentionally as neutral as possible. They weren’t telling her something.
So after letting out a small huff, she pulled her hand away from his own and began to walk away back towards her sister. She only made it one step before a strong pair of arms reached out and pulled her backwards into his solid form.
“That’s a bad idea, darling,” Jasper's voice drawled in her right ear, “You’re going to be good and stay right by me.”
She tried not to let his words affect her; after all, this was neither the time nor the place. She didn’t try hard enough.
“I was just…” Mitsuko trailed off awkwardly as she made eye contact with Emmett, who began waggling his eyebrows suggestively.
Now embarrassed, she tried to pull away again, to which Jasper tightened his grip. It wasn’t enough to hurt her, but it was enough for Mitsuko to fully understand just how strong he was.
So strong. She wondered what else he could do with those hands.
Despite her best efforts, all her mind could think about now was possibilities, like how possible would it be for Jasper to use those hands the right way if Mitsuko begged sweetly enough? Maybe she could get him to put his hands on her-
On the other side of the group, Edward began to choke on thin air. Mitusko thought it almost sounded like he was gagging. The others simply ignored the boy's struggling.
"Is he okay?" She asked which was simply answered with a collective laugh from the family.
As the laughter died down, Carlisle explained once more, "Edward can read minds."
"Oh…" If her cheeks could get any redder, she looked severely sunburnt.
“Unfortunately”, Edward spoke up from where he had finished fake gagging.
“He’s just being dramatic,” Alice spoke up, trying to comfort Mitsuko. “I’m sure what you were thinking wasn’t that bad.”
Edward started gagging again.
“Will you stop that, Edward?” Rosalie yelled at her adoptive brother, “God, you are always so fucking annoying.”
“Hello, teenage vampire going through a crisis here.” Hoshiko waved to the group, causing them to quieten down. “Could we please get back on topic?”
Mitsuko blinked to rewire her brain. “Sorry, you’re right.” She spoke, turning to Carlisle once more, “What exactly is the plan here?”
Before he spoke this time, Carlisle turned to Esme, waiting for her to nod and then stepping forward, “We’re willing to offer you a place in our family. You’d stay with us and learn to control your lust for blood, but we would expect you to follow our diet.”
She tilted her head in confusion, “What’s that?”
“We don’t drink human blood and hunt animals instead.” He clarified.
“I’m okay with that,” She agreed immediately, a haunted look appearing on her face. “The things I saw when I first woke up… well, I’d rather not talk about it.”
“We’ve all been in similar situations, Hoshiko; we understand,” Esme spoke, stepping forward, only turning back to reassure Carlisle, who had instinctually reached out to pull her back. Walking forwards until she was in front of Hoshiko, “In time, if you like, we can talk about it together.”
If she could cry, the younger Tanaka would have tears brimming in her eyes, “That would be nice.”
Ever the maternal figure, Esme didn’t hesitate before pulling Hoshiko into her arms and hugging her with nearly all her strength. The fledgling vampire could have sworn her now-diamond skin creaked from how hard she was hugging her, yet she could not help but lean in further into the embrace.
Still standing in Jasper’s arms, Mitsuko couldn’t help as the tears flowed; they were both her own and on behalf of her sister. She felt a jumble of emotions in that moment: sadness, confusion, relief and happiness. Yet as seconds went by, she felt an overwhelming sense of calm through her, and clarity hit her. Turning around one more time, she looked intently into Jasper’s golden eyes.
“It’s been you the whole time, hasn’t it?”
Jasper seemed hesitant to explain, “I can control people’s emotions, but I’ve only ever used it on you as a way to calm you.”
“I’m not mad.” She responded instantly, leaning further into him, “But could you ask me for permission next time?”
“Oh,” he said, surprised by her response, “Of course, if that’s what you want me to do.”
Mitsuko nodded before turning back to look at her sister as her small smile drooped into a frown. Jasper stepped around and looked at her from the side. “What’s wrong?”
“Will I ever be able to be near my sister again?” She whispered to him in hopes he would be the only one to hear.
Yet it seemed since she was in the know about vampires, the Cullens had decided to drop all pretences. From the complete other side of the large circle the group had formed, Edward decided to speak up, “It might be for the best.”
“What kind of suggestion is that?” She yelled out once more, stepping forward; this time Jasper decided to let her go. “She’s my sister; you can’t just expect me to abandon her!”
“She’s a newborn,” Edward hissed at her as he stepped forward. “She’s at the strongest but most uncontrollable she will be as a vampire.”
Yet, Mitsuko wasn’t one to be pushed around, so she stepped closer. “We’re sisters; we’d never hurt each other.”
“It would take much; it wouldn’t even have to be on purpose.” Edward pushed closer, now fully encroaching on her space. “I mean, it wouldn’t even take me a second to kill you. Think what a newborn at full strength could do.”
Within a millisecond, Jasper was at Mitsuko's side, pulling her behind him as he growled furiously at Edward, “Who do you think you’re threatening?”
At the same time, Hoshiko yelled out, “Back away from my sister, arsehole!”
He stood his ground for a moment longer before the rapidly darkening look on Jasper’s face made him back away, but not before speaking again. “She needs to understand how dangerous this is.”
“I think she’s already well aware of that.” The blonde spoke in a dangerously measured tone, “Or are you forgetting what she’s already been through?”
Feeling overshadowed in the conversation, Mitsuko leaned around Jasper slightly to emphasise, “Not that it’ll work anyway.” Before she was gently pushed back again.
Edward continued to stare at Jasper for a moment longer, his eyes flicking to Mitsuko behind him, to which she decided to flip him off. By this point it was clear that the tension would not be diffused by any three of them, so Carlisle stepped forward.
“That’s enough,” he spoke firmly, but his face remained soft. “We have larger issues at hand; I see no reason for Hoshiko and Mitsuko to spend time together so long as one of us supervises.”
“Carlisle”. Edward pushed back at his creator.
“We welcomed Bella with open arms into this family.” He responded instead, “ I expect you to do the same for Mitsuko.”
“You can just call me Suki!” She called out from behind Jasper again, earning a bewildered smile from Carlisle before he spoke again.
“I expect you to do the same for Suki.” The girl in question smiled widely at his correction.
It was a moment before Edward finally conceded with a forced, “Fine.” Before he turned around and ran deep into the woods.
“Where the hell is he going?” Hoshiko asked with a confused tone.
“Probably to visit Bella,” Esme explained, “He stays with her most nights.”
Once Jasper deemed Edward far enough away, he turned around and lifted Mitsuko’s chin up so she was looking at him. “Are you okay there, darling?”
She was awestruck by his touch; his presence was so overwhelming to her, but all she wanted to do was step closer and breathe him in. Instead, her body shook from the cold, and she let out a small yawn. After sighing slightly at the fact she ruined a potential moment, she spoke, her voice quiet and clearly drained, “Tired.”
Jasper smiled again. She’d liked it when he smiled, especially when he smiled at her. God, she was tired.
“Yeah, I think we should get you home.” He spoke, reaching forward to place his hand against her forehead, and Mitsuko leaned forward into his freezing touch instantly.
“You’re so cold,” she shivered, yet before he pulled away, she reached forward and grabbed his hand. “No, no, no, it’s nice... you feel so nice."
Before she could run her mouth anymore, Jasper wrapped his arms around her before hoisting her up and carrying her back towards the silver car. "Right, let's get you in the car."
"M'kay," she said as she burrowed further into his chest and closed her eyes, sleep quickly taking over.
Carefully, Jasper opened the door to the car and was able to settle her in the front passenger seat. After making sure she was buckled in and draping his jacket over her sleeping form, he took his place in the driver's seat.
Before he could pull away, though, a knock on the window caused him to turn and come face to face with Hoshiko’s suspicious glare. With a neutral expression, Jasper rolled down the window and simply stared.
“I need you to promise me something,” she said firmly, before her face softened, “Take care of my sister.”
He answered without hesitation, “Always.”

Chapter 3. Deadly Party Crasher
She tried not to think about Riley as much anymore. It had been a month, and the majority for the police had declared it a dead end; only Charlie was still investigating. Mitsuko wished he’d come back, but she knew the chance of that was slim now, and so she tried her best to move on.
Throwing herself into graduation planning and work, she did anything to distract herself. Mitsuko was elated to be finally graduating; as much as she loved her friends, she was excited to have the freedom that high school never gave her. The ceremony was amazing; she smiled brightly as she and her friends threw their caps in the air as several parents took pictures.
Once she’d gone home, she enjoyed a little celebratory meal with her mom and sister. After dinner, she spent some time with Hoshiko, who helped her get ready for the afterparty. She pulled a white blouse with puffy long sleeves from her closet. Pausing for a moment in thought, she turned back to her closet and pulled out a pink corset that had gold and pearl detailing.
After dressing, she allowed Hoshiko to do her makeup. It was similar to her everyday look, but her sister added some extra shimmer to her eye makeup and highlights. While her makeup was done, she braided half of her hair up and tied it in place. Just as she finished getting ready, she got a text from Jess saying her dad was on his way to pick her up. She stood up and checked herself in the mirror one last time before making her way downstairs.
"You look beautiful!" her mom exclaimed as she made her way downstairs. "Do you have everything you need?"
"Yes, Mom, don't worry; I'll be fine." She reassured her that ever since she learnt about Riley, their mother had been hyperprotective of her two daughters. After sharing a quick goodbye, she ran outside where the car was waiting for her.
Now she found herself drinking from a red plastic cup as music blasted through the Cullens’ woodland house. Although Mitsuko thought that ‘house’ was an understatement, she’d spent some time just wandering around, and while she didn’t go into any of the rooms, she was blown away at the amount of doors alone.
She sighed as one particular Cullen popped into her mind. She hadn’t yet seen Jasper, but she knew he was here; at least he said he would be. Mitsuko presumed he was out on the balcony since she'd seen the rest of the Cullens head that way.
“SUKI!” Jessica yelled towards Mitsuko, breaking her from her thoughts, “COME OVER! MIKE MADE US SHOTS!”
She smiled towards her friend and quickly made her way over, face clear with surprise at the suspiciously neon green shots in front of her. “Mike, what the hell did you make?”
“I actually don’t know, but it does have tequila in…”
“Who cares?” Lauren butted in as she grabbed a glass, “If it’s tequila, I’m drinking.”
The group cheered and followed her lead, each grabbing a glass before clinking the glasses together and each taking a shot. Mitsuko quickly downed her drink, gagging slightly at the strength and sourness of the shot, and then giggled as she watched her friends do the same.
“Mike, what the fuck was that?” Jessica asked her boyfriend, still gagging from the shot. “My throat is burning.”
“Yeah, I think you just gave us pure ethanol.”
“Well, at least my sinuses’ are cleared now.” Angela added, trying to be positive. “Wait, there’s Bella!”
Mitsuko followed behind her friends as they approached the brunette; they each hugged her, which allowed Mitsuko to slide in at the end and pull her into a tight embrace. “Happy graduation, Bella; glad to see you here.”
“Thanks, Suki…” Bella whispered in reply, giving her friend a genuine smile when they pulled away.
“So where’s your boyfriend?” She asked, raising her eyebrow suggestively, earning a mock punch from her friend. Before her friend could reply, Jessica jumped forward to speak to Bella.
“Hey. What did you think of my speech? Too easy-breezy, too self-helpful? You may admit it.”
“No, you pretty much nailed it.” Bella complimented her friend, creating a large smile on Jess’ face.
“Yeah? It's like I was born to lead, right?”
A song began to play, which got Angela's attention. She lit up before turning to her friends, “Oh, great. I love this song; let's go.”
Mitsuko was about to follow her friends, but she noticed Bella hadn’t moved. “You coming, Bella?”
“In a sec, I just need to talk to someone.” Mitsuko noticed her looking at the door where Jacob and two other boys had just entered. She nodded to Bella in understanding before making her way to the dance floor.
Angela pulled her close into a mini group hug with Jessica, all three spinning around together to the music. She danced for a while, sipping on a drink that Mike had passed her. As much as she enjoyed hanging around her friends, she hadn’t seen the Cullens at all, even Jasper, despite his promise.
“I need some air; I’m gonna head outside for a minute.” She turned to Angela, who looked at her in slight concern and offered to come with her, which she had graciously declined.
Mitsuko pushed her way through the crowd and eventually made her way to the front entrance. Stepping outside, she breathed a sigh of relief as she stood by the tree line. “I should probably check on Hoshi,” she murmured to herself before pulling her phone out of her little white bag.
Just as she was about to hit the call button, she heard a strange rustle come from deep within the forest; at first she ignored it, looking back to her phone. Yet, the rustling persisted alongside the strangest whispering as if a voice was calling her name. She didn’t know what came over her, but she found herself walking deeper into the woods in an almost trance-like state.
She continued walking until she found herself in a large clearing and quickly turned her head as a twig snapped, revealing a familiar figure standing on the other side of the clearing.
“Riley?” Mitsuko called out to him as she began to step forward, “Everyone’s been worried sick. Where have you been?”
“Don’t lie. No one’s even missed me,” he answered her, suddenly standing right in front of her.
“What are you talking about? Of course we have... She trailed off as she looked into his eyes, “Are you wearing contacts?”
“It doesn’t matter; you weren’t supposed to be here.” Riley ignored her question, “But she won’t be happy if I leave a witness.”
“Riley, what are you talking about?” Mitsuko was feeling afraid now, unsure if she’d be able to run in her current state. “You’re starting to scare me a bit, Riley.”
“I’m sorry for what’s about to happen.” His face changed into a snarl as he suddenly lunged towards her.
Elsewhere, a few minutes later…
Jasper rolled his eyes discreetly as he was forced to feel the tension between his brother and the young shifter. It was exhausting having to deal with teenage hormones on a regular basis, let alone the heightened hormones of two supernatural boys. He inhaled sharply in annoyance, eyes widening at the overwhelming scent that hit him. Blood and lots of it.
“HELP ME!” A shout got the attention of everyone on the balcony, looking down, spotting Mike Newton running from the woods, cradling something, Jessica running just as quickly behind him. “SOMEONE CALL AN AMBULANCE!”
The group quickly made their way down and outside, where a crowd was forming around the Newton boy. Although some of his family opted to stay back as the metallic smell of blood grew stronger the closer they got. Jasper followed closely behind Carlisle, who was making his way through the crowd.
Once the crowd parted, he froze at the bloody sight. Mike was holding Mitsuko in his arms, her body and hair almost unrecognisable from the sheer amount of blood.
“What happened?” Carlisle asked as Mike placed the girl on the ground. Jasper stepping forward and kneeling by her head.
The southern blonde heard Edward whisper a sharp, “Jasper, stay back.” But he ignored it; Mitsuko was someone he cared about; her blood wasn’t affecting him as he was too concerned with her well-being.
“I don’t know; some kind of animal attacked her; me and Jess heard a scream, and we just found her on the ground bleeding.” The young boy explained, trying to hold back tears at his friend’s condition. “She’s conscious, I think, but she’s not responding.”
“Honey, could you go grab the first aid kit?” Carlisle called to Esme, who moved back inside the house. She reappeared quickly, able to use her vampire speed since everyone was distracted outside. He thanked her gently before tearing the box open and pulling the gloves on.
As her began to clean the wounds, the young girl began to stir, muttering something, “Riley… don’t…” Jasper heard her mutter, as did his family, indicated by the sudden feeling of tension that spread through them all. It was at this moment that Carlisle wiped her neck clean and discovered a distinctive bite mark on her left side.
“Why isn’t she in pain?” Jasper quietly whispered to Carlisle so no human could hear; he was hyperfocused on her emotions as he was sending the young woman wave after wave of calm.
“I’m not sure, but she needs medical attention...” The other vampire whispered in reply, and he continued to take care of the young human.
Alongside her bite, she had several scratches and cuts across her body as if she’d been thrown around. What concerned Jasper most was the damage Riley was able to inflict without any of them becoming aware.
The ambulance drove rapidly down the drive of the Cullens house before the paramedics raced out with the gurney. The crowd parted once again as they approached the injured woman. Recognising the doctor, the older paramedic spoke to Carlisle as the other began to place Mitsuko on the gurney, “Dr. Cullen, how is she?”
“She lost a lot of blood before. I’ve wrapped a lot of the major wounds; she’ll need a transfusion for sure.” He explained as he followed them towards the ambulance, “What I’m most concerned about is the possible internal bleeding.”
“Understood. We’ll get to the hospital as quickly as possible,” the paramedic replied as they lifted the gurney into the back. “You wanna ride with us, doctor?”
“Yes, if that’s all right.” Carlisle agreed as the paramedic nodded and allowed him into the back of the ambulance.
As the ambulance raced back down the road, Jasper followed it with narrowed eyes. Everyone else had begun to rush toward Mike, who was drenched in Mitsuko's blood and clearly traumatised.
