Hi everyone, I'm Drew/Lottie, a 19 year old bisexual nb person living with my abusive parents. They recently gave me an ultimatum that I have three months (until October 1st) to move out of their house, at which point I will become homeless. I have family in Portland who are willing to let me stay with them (I live in Maryland), but if it comes to that I will still need funds to secure transportation and contribute to rent until I find work in the area. I am currently working a temp job that ends in a week, and actively seeking new employment.

I have been trying for about a year to find a place to move into with my friend Lake @drkatz without success. I need help saving money for rental application fees, security deposit and first month's rent. Low end 2 bedroom apartments where I currently live run for around 850-900 dollars, and since I would be paying both half of the deposit and half of the first month's rent, I need at least $850. If that goal is not met, any donations I receive will go towards plane tickets.

Any amount of money you can spare would be a tremendous help to me. I know times are hard for everyone right now, so boosting and sharing this post is a great way to help if you can't contribute financially. As the staff post about ad-free tumblr continues to get thousands of notes telling staff to fuck off in the tags, I wanna remind you that this website's days are numbered. Tumblr is still unprofitable and by some modern-day miracle none of its acquiring companies pulled the plug on this money pit. But it will happen if it continues its trajectory.

Whether you like it or not, Tumblr needs to make money off you somehow in order to stay up. It either serves ads or asks for money to use it. This has been a paradigm on the web longer than many of you have been alive. It's Tumblr's job to make money right now because it's well past its grace period of being a black hole for cash. This has actually always been Tumblr's job, since it is a corporation, but that's capitalism for ya.

If you want Tumblr to be here for free and you want to continue to use it, you do yourself a disservice by opposing any changes Tumblr makes in order to pay for its costs. When this site finally goes belly-up then you're gonna be Tumblr-less until whatever startup takes its place and the cycle repeats itself.

If you think it should just ask for donations Wikipedia-style, remember that if and when that happens, there will be users repeating the same tired bullshit about giving Tumblr any money.
