I think I’m cursed

I dont think Iwaoi was "love at first sight" per se, but I do think Iwaizumi met Oikawa, and within a few days realized he would, eventually, fall in love with him.

I think when they reached middle school, Iwaizumi sat down beside Oikawa in their class on the first day and looked at him, and really looked, and thought: yeah. He's gonna get me one day.

And when Oikawa has his first middle school girlfriend, Iwaizumi isn't jealous at all. No crush, no secret love, he couldnt care less. But he thinks: shit. If I fall in love with him now, it's going to hurt.

But he doesnt. And they continue to grow up together. And people tease him, ask him if he thinks any girls are cute or if he's ever going to get a girlfriend and he plays it off as gross and says no because actually, im going to fall in love with Oikawa, sounds a little weird.

And the longer it takes the more confused Iwaizumi gets. Like he knows, one day, he's going to feel it. He knows it'll happen as sure as he knows which direction the sun rises, but he's also happy just being his best friend.

And then one day, finally, one day, at the beginning of their third year, Oikawa laughs and leans in a little too close as he's teasing him, and Iwaizumi's heart does a heavy thump in his chest and he just goes.

Ah. There it is. I was waiting for you.

And so there, in that exact moment, when his heart had finally caught up with what his soul had known on the spot, he asks if Oikawa has any plans that evening, and asks him out.

And Oikawa has the audacity to be surprised.

Okay while trying to write up an answer for an entirely unrelated ask, I was suddenly slamdunked by the mental image of Daichi and Kenma becoming really close friends and like hanging out to play video games together and both of them, to each other, are like "yes we are hanging out as proxy friends because we are both much closer to kuroo" but they don't realize they've started hanging out alone and have become good friends (i actually do think they'd get along well) but Kuroo sure has noticed and he's feeling an absolutely unparalleled level of jealousy about it that he simply cannot identify the cause of.

Yaku: so you're jealous that your crush is spending more time with your closest friend than you?

Kuroo: yes

Yaku: great. And which one is which?

Kuroo: *distressed cat noises*

i love how you’ve built up their relationship prior to canon and how we can see the small, but many, impacts may has had on skye. i’m absolutely starving for good maydaisy content atm, so i was hoping to convince you to give us some of may being jealous of jiaying (s2) or skye’s reaction to may’s framework? :’)

To be very completely honest, I’ve been toying with the idea of writing and posting a collection of scenes from what I’ve planned for s2 and on (some MayDaisy, some Philinda, some Dousy, etc etc) as compensation for dropping the series, but I’ve been experiencing some stupid writers block (that I may or may not have gotten from my friend, the jury’s still out on that) so I haven’t really written anything as of late. I really want to though!

As for the MayDaisy stuff you’ve talked about, I’d love to write it, really, I would, but that’s between my brain and my schedule, so I’m not sure how fast I could make it for you! If I don’t know you already and you don’t mind breaking your anonymity, feel free to shoot me a text over tumblr and we can talk about this and so I can tag you if/when I finally write and post it! If you don’t wanna be known though that’s totally fine, you’ll just have to pray and check this page every so often. Yknow, typical anon request behaviour.
