Do You Have A Boyfriend Now?

Do you have a boyfriend now?

There is a man in my life, yes. He meets all of my requirements, lives up to all of my standards, does the most to make me happy, and makes me feel like I’m truly understood. However, if we’re ever going to be together, I do have to get my degree. That was the agreement that we made. We see each other for meals a few times per week and do activities together as well.

You need a man that’s insanely obsessed with you (:

I prefer someone devoted and emotionally regulated…obsession fades, but consistency doesn’t.

do you ever look at strangers smiling or dancing or having fun and think “i love you”? or see someone bop their heads along with the music from their headphones and you just wish you could tell them how pretty they look doing just that? or feel your heart warm when you watch someone laugh really loudly and then think about them later that day, completely randomly? you’re a part of that, too. someone has kept quiet about how beautiful you are to them, has smiled at the thought of this complete stranger that made their day, has repeated a joke you made to someone they love. there’s a lot of quiet love and admiration and connection in this world and even if you think you don’t belong, you’ve always been and always will be a part of it.

I’m sitting in my hairstylist’s chair for 6 hours today, so I’m shopping and designing my new place on my iPad. I’m moving to university and rushing this autumn, so I’m in the process of choosing what I’ll wear for each day. I don’t have a budget, and I like to shop, but the issue is I’m always out or otherwise busy with something more pressing than shopping, so it’s nice to sit with foils in my hair and focus on pulling everything together. This is much better than the Peking Duck and Diet Coke rest we do when I have a long appointment.

I feel like my conception of It girls was deeply shaped by growing up in the 2000s…I simply don’t believe that anyone who is chronically online can ever be a true It girl. It girls aren’t supposed to take loads of photos of themselves, they’re supposed to be photographed by others stumbling out of nightclubs or in appear in best dressed magazine spreads …They’re supposed to seem a bit mysterious and unreachable and like they’re always busy having fun and being glamorous. For this and so many other reasons I just cannot understand how anyone could conceive of Dasha from Redscare or any of these dead-eyed Dimes Square adjacent people as an It girl. Those people are a charisma vacuum. They never look like they’re having any fun and they’re also obsessed with online culture wars (profoundly unchic behaviour). Also their personas are extremely effortfully contrived while the true It girl exude effortlessness and seems like she influences people and culture simply by existing.
