Few Things In Our Game Will Ever Be This Glitchy Again, So We Have To Savor These Moments As They Come.

Few things in our game will ever be this glitchy again, so we have to savor these moments as they come.  I do think we’ll keep the banana gun, complete with non-lethal banana bullets.

comic of metal gear solid the phantom pain. The first page shows Kaz at motherbase going down some stairs. A soldier standing next to them salutes him Soldier: "Morning sir! Kaz: Morning Kaz is in the 2nd panel walking around motherbase, the cloudy sky can be seen in a corner Soldier offscreen: Good morning, Commander! Kaz: Soldier The last panel shows Kaz walking past Ocelot on a hall that shows the sea and motherbases platforms without giving him a second look, greeting him with a curt "Ocelot", whos mumbling words under his breath.
First panel has Kaz turning around to look at Ocelot after his lack of response and his constant mumbling, a worried pause before calling him Kaz: ...Ocelot? The 2nd panel has Ocelot repeating his mantra and staring dead ahead with his face devoid of expression, ignoring Kaz calling out to him Ocelot: Sasabe, Kofudai, Tokiwadai, Myokenguchi. The next panel is a closeup of Ocelota eye open wide and bloodshot, with strands of hair falling on his face. Ocelot: La Li Lu Le L- Kaz: HEY! The 4th panel is the same as the last one, but Ocelot is now looking directly at the side where the yell came from The final panel has Ocelot finally acknowledging Kaz, looking at him surprised, the other man holding Ocelot by the shoulder with anger Ocelot: Oh, Mille- Kaz: What the hell was that?!
The 3rd page starts with Ocelot squeezing his eyes and pinching his nose, irritated at Kaz’s nagging next to him. His crutch resting against the rails so he can point at the gunslinger Ocelot: nothing to worry about Kaz: your clothes are soaked, were you out here all night? Ocelot: this is none of your business Kaz: Bullshit! Do you think i cant tell somethings wrong? The next panel has Kaz looking at Ocelot with a mix of exasperation and worry, one of his eyes visible thru the glasses Kaz: youve been acting strange ever since Snake came back, sometimes its like youre not even here and I- Kaz stops himself mid sentence and looks away, his hand in a fist close to his chest, frustration clear in his face In the final panel Kaz drops his hand down, his face devoid of any intense feelings, his expression shielded behind his sunglasses Kaz: the boss is getting worried
The page starts with a closeup of Ocelots hand holding the rails of the deck so tight that it shakes, but then relaxing in the next panel after a sigh Ocelot: theres been a delay in the shipment of my meds, i need them to stay…collected The next panel has Kaz staring at Ocelot with surprise, both of them immediately starting to argue over the new facts Kaz: meds? Since when? You could’ve said something- Ocelot: Because i have everything already solved! It’s under control Ocelot appears sheepish in the next panel, scratching the back of his head while looking away Ocelot: but, it was stupid of me to think you wouldn’t notice. The gunslinger feigns indifference, making his conmon gestures with his hands. Kaz rubs his eyes tiredly behind the glasses Ocelot: sorry, didnt mean to upset the Boss Kaz: its fine, you said its getting solved, right? Ocelot: the supplies are on the way, yes. Kaz: Ok, good.
Page starts with the sun finally showing theu the clouds, the sky dissipating and illuminating the whole motherbase. Kaz: you know… This panel shows Ocelot and Kaz from far away, the light hitting them and creating shadows behind them. Kaz is resting his hand on Ocelots shoulder in an almost affectionate way, the other man looking at him surprised. Kaz: You can trust us with this sort of stuff, right? 3rd panel shows a closeup of Kaz face with an open and almost hopeful expression. Kaz: let me help next time The next one shows Ocelot looking to the front, with an almost blank expression Ocelot finally turns back with a face that barely shows sadness, slightly smiling at Miller. Ocelot: …will do. thanks, Miller Kazs hand is squeezing his shoulder gently
Kaz drops his hand from Ocelots shoulder and walks away, Kaz: ahem* okay, we should get going. Boss is gonna call us anytime now 2nd panel shows them still walking away, this time Kaz is almost out of view grabbing his cane Kaz: what was that gibberish from earlier anyways? (It was freaking me out) Ocelot: Just meaningless words that help me focus when said in an a certain order 3rd panel shows Kaz at the front with an ocelot with a puzzled expression behind him. Kaz: okay, but why say the sum wrong? Ocelot: what do you mean? Last panel shows Kazs back, having turned around to face Ocelot fully Kaz: youre kidding right? Because…
All color is gone from this page, the background just a black void with kaz standing in the middle of it, staring straight ahead. Kaz:2+2=4 The image glitches, making kaz double and triple in image.
Kaz: AND THEN HE THREW UP ALL OVER MY COAT AND LEFT WITHOUT SAYING A FUCKING WORD The page starts with Kaz and Venom on the commands room, with some time having passed since the previous events. Kaz is throwing his arm in the air while shouting, while Venom is holding his chin while thinking Venom: hrm…that doesn’t sound like him Venom is the only one shown in this panel, with Kaz speaking offscreen. Kaz: (offscreen) And its not just all, before that…nevermind, im probably imagining things. (Im just gonna sit down) Venom: what is it? Kaz looks to the side, one of his eyes visible thru the sunglasses showing confusion and worry, his chin resting on his hand Kaz: well…
Kaz: (offscreen) This is Ocelot we’re talking about, so it cant be possible In a flashback, we see the ground between Ocelot and Kaz, his cane falling to the ground making a CLATTER sound Kaz: But Kaz is shown grabbing Ocelots shoulder once again, this time with worry and alarm at seeing the other man grabbing his head and almost collapsing, his whole face covered in swear Kaz: If we were talking about anyone else Kaz’s is goving his back to the viewer again. Ocelots is the only one we can see. Hes covering his mouth still, a mix of sickness and shock covering his face at seeing the other’s man empty sleeve for the first time since he went under, knowing hes the cause of it now. Kaz: I would say he was looking at me almost with fear

I Have Some Really Bad News About Our MGS Fangame, Peace Day.  It’s Not Happening.  Not Anymore.

I have some really bad news about our MGS fangame, Peace Day.  It’s not happening.  Not anymore.  We put in 4 months of work into it, making the sprites and interactions and a physics engine.  Backgrounds and storyboards and all kinds of fun stuff.  But we were working under the misleading concept of fair use.  You guys have been awesome support on our project and some of the sweetest people we’ve ever talked to.  This whole game was meant to be a love letter to the MGS:PW fandom.  I’m devastated that we can’t make it work, and that we created a shitload of vaporware.  If anyone wants the sprites for their own personal (noncommercial) use, they’re welcome to them.    We were so dumb.  Even the most basic research would have turned up that despite the fair use clause being a real thing, you can still get sued - or at the very least, have your stuff DMCA’ed.  You can defend yourself in court, but the question is, do you have the cash for that kind of legal defense? Not all companies do this.  Sega and Valve have given people permission to make fangames, and so has the creator of Undertale.  But there’s something about fangames - not fan art - that makes companies like Konami and Nintendo go nuclear.  Even if you’re not making money off of them.  Even if you’re not using any in-game assets.  Even if you’re just representing their characters and bits of story.  They will sue you and then slap you with an NDA so you can’t ever talk about it.  Maybe Glowdust and I are taking the cowardly way out.  But I’m not about to spend another 3-6 months of my life creating something only to risk being sued, or to have my work buried in the ground forever.  We’ll be making an original game that uses all the lessons we’ve learned in the last few months instead. And I’m so, so sorry. :-( https://www.reddit.com/r/gamedev/comments/5pxldd/ultimate_as_promised_guide_to_legal_needs_and/ http://kotaku.com/5420240/how-to-make-a-fan-game-and-not-get-your-ass-sued http://www.wired.co.uk/article/investigation-are-fan-games-legal

This is the best tutorial for something I’ve always struggled with in pixel art! It’s really useful conceptually for painting in general.

🌿 How to draw simple grass for a game

🌿 How To Draw Simple Grass For A Game

Thank you kind asker I will make a tutorial below for grass. I'll do shrubs and trees in another one, because it's a different method and it got pretty long.

🌿 How to draw grass tiles: step-by-step

Each box is 16x16, the same size Stardew Valley uses. Make it tile (how to do it depends on your software) so we can see if our edges match up nicely.

Draw 1 simple blade of grass. Many options for shape but I like this one. Feel free to copy me directly

2. Give it a shadow. Wow !!!

3. Give it a highlight! OMG!

4. Add another grass

🌿 How To Draw Simple Grass For A Game

5. Do it over and over and over and over and over

Literally just do the same or similar blades of grass, give them all little shadows, highlight a few if you want and there you have it! So easy.

It looks really complicated like this, but its literally just a few steps, repeated over and over.

🌿 How To Draw Simple Grass For A Game

Many games use this technique and it would be perfectly serviceable for a base grass tile.

Personally, I prefer lower contrast grass. This tile will likely be used for large areas, so ideally you don't want it to be too busy or eye-burning to distract from the character.

🌿 How To Draw Simple Grass For A Game

🌿 I'll show you how to do a different type of grass now that is a little more complicated.

Midtone grass colour

2. Add some lighter and darker patches touching each other (not too high contrast!)

3. Use this shape (or your preferred, but this is how I did it) on the top edge of your patches. Colour them with the middle colour from each patch.

4. Do it again a lot (this is very tedious)

Can't afford art school?

After seeing post like this 👇

Can't Afford Art School?

And this gem 👇

Can't Afford Art School?

As well as countless of others from the AI generator community. Just talking about how "inaccessible art" is, I decided why not show how wrong these guys are while also helping anyone who actually wants to learn.

Here is the first one ART TEACHERS! There are plenty online and in places like youtube.

📺Here is my list:

Proko (Free, mostly teaches anatomy and how to draw people. But does have art talks and teaches the basics.)

Marc Brunet (Free but he does have other classes for a cheap price. Use to work for Blizzard and teaches you everything)

Aaron Rutten (free, tips about art, talks about art programs and the best products for digital art)

BoroCG (free, teaches a verity of art mediums from 3D modeling to digital painting. As well as some tips that can be used across styles)

Jesse J. Jones (free, talks about animating)

Jesus Conde (free, teaches digital painting and has classes in Spanish)

Mohammed Agbadi (free, he gives some advice in some videos and talks about art)

Ross Draws (free, he does have other classes for a good price. Mostly teaching character designs and simple backgrounds.)

SamDoesArts (free, gives good advice and critiques)

Drawfee Show (free, they do give some good advice and great inspiration)

The Art of Aaron Blaise ( useful tips for digital art and animation. Was an animator for Disney. Mostly nature art)

Bobby Chiu ( useful tips and interviews with artist who are in the industry or making a living as artist)

Sinix Design (has some tips on drawing people)

Winged canvas (art school for free on a verity of mediums)

Bob Ross (just a good time, learn how to paint, as well as how too relax when doing art. "there are no mistakes only happy accidents", this channel also provides tips from another artist)

Scott Christian Sava (Inspiration and provides tips and advice)

Pikat (art advice and critiques)

Drawbox (a suggested cheap online art school, made of a community of artist)

Skillshare (A cheap learning site that has art classes ranging from traditional to digital. As well as Animation and tutorials on art programs. All under one price, in the USA it's around $34 a month)

Human anatomy for artist (not a video or teacher but the site is full of awesome refs to practice and get better at anatomy)

Second part BOOKS, I have collected some books that have helped me and might help others.

📚Here is my list:

The "how to draw manga" series produced by Graphic-sha. These are for manga artist but they give great advice and information.

"Creating characters with personality" by Tom Bancroft. A great book that can help not just people who draw cartoons but also realistic ones. As it helps you with facial ques and how to make a character interesting.

"Albinus on anatomy" by Robert Beverly Hale and Terence Coyle. Great book to help someone learn basic anatomy.

"Artistic Anatomy" by Dr. Paul Richer and Robert Beverly Hale. A good book if you want to go further in-depth with anatomy.

"Directing the story" by Francis Glebas. A good book if you want to Story board or make comics.

"Animal Anatomy for Artists" by Eliot Goldfinger. A good book for if you want to draw animals or creatures.

"Constructive Anatomy: with almost 500 illustrations" by George B. Bridgman. A great book to help you block out shadows in your figures and see them in a more 3 diamantine way.

"Dynamic Anatomy: Revised and expand" by Burne Hogarth. A book that shows how to block out shapes and easily understand what you are looking out. When it comes to human subjects.

"An Atlas of animal anatomy for artist" by W. Ellenberger and H. Dittrich and H. Baum. This is another good one for people who want to draw animals or creatures.

Etherington Brothers, they make books and have a free blog with art tips.

📝As for Supplies, I recommend starting out cheap, buying Pencils and art paper at dollar tree or 5 below. If you want to go fancy Michaels is always a good place for traditional supplies. They also get in some good sales and discounts. For digital art, I recommend not starting with a screen art drawing tablet as they are usually more expensive.

For the Best art Tablet I recommend either Xp-pen, Bamboo or Huion. Some can range from about 40$ to the thousands.

💻As for art programs here is a list of Free to pay.

Clip Studio paint ( you can choose to pay once or sub and get updates. Galaxy, Windows, macOS, iPad, iPhone, Android, or Chromebook device. )

Procreate ( pay once for $9.99 usd, IPAD & IPHONE ONLY)

Blender (for 3D modules/sculpting, animation and more. Free)

PaintTool SAI (pay but has a 31 day free trail)

Krita (Free)

mypaint (free)

FireAlpaca (free)

Aseprite ($19.99 usd but has a free trail, for pixel art Windows & macOS)

Drawpile (free and for if you want to draw with others)

IbisPaint (free, phone app ONLY)

Medibang (free, IPAD, Android and PC)

NOTE: Some of these can work on almost any computer like Clip and Sai but others will require a bit stronger computer like Blender. Please check their sites for if your computer is compatible.

So do with this information as you will but as you can tell there are ways to learn how to become an artist, without breaking the bank. The only thing that might be stopping YOU from using any of these things, is YOU.

I have made time to learn to draw and many artist have too. Either in-between working two jobs or taking care of your family and a job or regular school and chores. YOU just have to take the time or use some time management, it really doesn't take long to practice for like an hour or less. YOU also don't have to do it every day, just once or three times a week is fine.

Hope this was helpful and have a great day.

Peace Day - A Retro Peace Walker FanFic Game

My husband and I were working on a retro-style platform Peace Walker fangame.  But even non-commercial fangames can get one into trouble so we decided to stop.  Sorry.  I don't have the heart to take down this blog.  If you'd like the sprites for your own non-commercial stuff, let me know!
