Red Riding Hood in the Prohibition
2D IS CANONICALLY BUDDHIST
design a guy, design a place, put him there
I’m very emotional because I just finished Dororo... the ending,
*holding back tears*
... was so fucking bad
I’ve never been so immidiatly detatched from a show during the last five minutes of the last episode. I went from total devotion to resentment. Resentment that what could have been a perfect adaptation of a classic didn’t take the right steps in cultivating a satisfying ending. It was infuriating and creepy.
First off, this scene-
hyakkimaru calls dororo pretty, and at first I was like that’s nice? like Hyakkimaru doesn’t understand genderoles so he’s just happy to see his bro??
but the rest of the ending has lead me to beleive that this is fanservice for the ship and I’m so fucking angry that the show would even suggest a romantic relationship between these two
Then Hyakkimaru ditches Dororo- and I don’t care if thats how the old manga ends it just doesn’t make sense for the context of this iteration, Hyakkimaru fought so hard to get Dororo back and the whole show is about their bond???
AND THEN THE NAIL IN THE COFFIN
Dororo, after spending the whole series defending his gender and living comforatably as a boy is heavily implied to live on as a girl, and the way he runs to Hyakkimaru is framed as slightly romantic
I get that the story was written in the 60’s but the whole point of this show was to create a modern adaptation- Tezuka did his best back then to write a heavily implied trans character and we live in an age where this could have been fully realized
its sad
havn’t been feeling up to art lately but-
WOOPS
i dropped something
what this?
