actually i DO want to talk about catherine miller. here is what we know about catherine: she was Kaz’s daughter, she was a child during MG2 (in 1999) and it is implied in the MGS4 database that she lived with him during MGS1 (in 2005) my guess from her dialogue is that she was 5-8 years old in MG2, putting her birth year around 1991-1994.

but who was her mom? hell, considering kaz was infertile, who was her biological dad? what made him decide to raise her? was he raising her alone or was there a shared custody agreement with her mom? (endlessly fascinated by Kaz Divorce Arc but that’s for another post) did she have a good childhood? was she loved? considering she was living with kaz in 2005 was she the one to find his body? how did she react? (she was only a child) where did she go after? did she ever discover anything about her dad’s past? were there always agents watching her? did she ever meet solid snake? did she ever meet his daughter? did she get to grow up?

i know she was an afterthought character probably meant to be retconned out but i wish i could get my hands on the forbidden catherine lore, if it even existed.

on the subject of it often being out of character for characters to be having carefully negotiated bdsm sex in smut fics: 90% of metal gear ships are insane toxic yaoi and would definitely be having sex that is neither safe nor sane and only borderline consensual HOWEVER otacon and snavid would be thoroughly negotiating kinks before during and after sex like theyre doing mission briefings on a codec call

honestly i feel like a way more ambiguous relationship is between raiden and snake (and to a lesser extent otacon since lbr he and snake are unambiguously romantic so theyre kind of a package deal at this point, not to mention raiden asking sunny if hal was married yet and talking about how much more attractive he got in his 30s lol), i feel like im always flipping back and forth between whether their relationship seems more familial, friendly, or if there might be something romantic there. theres an argument to be made that snake is like an uncle to him since solidus does call himself raiden's dad, and i do see where people are coming from with that, but on the other hand idk if raiden necessarily considers solidus his father, and given the fact that snake isnt blood related to snake and didnt meet him until he was already well unto adulthood (and that snake didnt even know about solidus' relationship with him until he was well into adulthood), i can also completely see raiden and snake not necessarily considering each other family (theyre still close either way, just a different kind of close)

no idea if this makes any sense at all but its kind of been rattling around in my brain so i figured i might as well put it out there ^^;

yeah i get u! i personally always saw snake and raiden as like. coworkers. but ur right that he does kind of seem like a relative or close family friend to the lil snake-otacon-sunny family. i don’t think i see snake having any romantic feelings towards raiden because he’s pretty solidly in monogamy mode by 2009, and i’m not sure i see the other way around either because i am one of three straight raiden truthers on here, but the adam warren comics do make me somewhat fond of him having a hero-worship crush on snake haha.
