Bingewatching Will Never Come Close To Bingereading. There Is Nothing Like Blocking Out The Entire Earth

bingewatching will never come close to bingereading. there is nothing like blocking out the entire Earth for ten hours to read a book in one sitting no food no water no shower no bra and emerging at the end with no idea what time it is or where you are, a dried-up prune that's sensitive to light and loud noises because you've been in your room in the dark reading by the glow of a single LED. it's like coming back after a three-month vacation in another dimension and now you have to go downstairs and make dinner. absolutely transcendental

Mmm the villain of the episode is an entitled white lady who called the cops on a bunch of kids, calls them monsters because of an aspect of themselves they can't change that makes them disruptive and dangerous, and hides behind a veneer of being a caring mother. And Annabeth is black. The social commentary is commentarying

Why are shoes such a big issue for Indian dance?

I AM GLAD YOU ASKED - and this is what I’ve been taught.

We wear bells on our ankles and they’re our instruments. You wouldn’t put your shoes on a piano or a harp or a saxophone. It’s just something you respect and want to keep clean.

Also, Indians, along with other cultures, take their shoes off to pray. You don’t want to bring extra impurities into a place of worship like a temple or deraser. Taking off shoes is a sign of respect.

When we dance, we dance barefoot to show respect for the Earth. She allows us space to slap our feet and move, so we remove our shoes because she has provided a holy space for us.

This is what I’ve learned in my 13 years of Kathak. Also wearing bells with shoes just feels wrong - maybe that’s an innate cultural thing.

I was watching ep. 3 of pjo with my best friend who’s never read the books and she said “percy’s so smart and sneaky.” and yessss!! he IS. and he gets played off as this lucky and clueless guy at worst and naturally talented and powerful fighter at best. but ultimately, he’s won most of his battles by outsmarting his opponent. he’s an incredible strategist and he doesn’t get enough credit for it.

percy is very cunning at heart and that’s a compliment. he could’ve been an antagonist if he chose to be but he didn’t bc he cares about people. if his loved ones and the state of world weren’t at risk of being collateral damage in the war, I think percy might’ve joined kronos’ side. it’s not his loyalty for the gods that makes him a hero, it’s his loyalty to humanity
