(P.S. pop by if ur in nyc)
Hello friends and happy 2024! Can you believe we're already a month in? Feels like time has just flown by! Things have been crazy busy in the workshop so I wanted to give you all an update as to what our goals are for the upcoming year.Β
First up, we're making some new dolls! Our primary goal is to make all of the Sailor Scouts from the anime series Sailor Moon. This series was extra special to me growing up so getting to make amigurumi of these magical girls brings me a lot of joy.

Second, we're hoping to have an actual storefront up, ideally, by May! Why May? That gives me time to get all the photos taken, descriptions written, and prices determined. Plus I can adequately give all the due credit to the lovely folks whose patterns I'm using to create these wonderful amigurumi.Β
That being said, what's going to be in the store? Glad you asked! My plan is to have two separate categories: Ready to Ship, and Commissionable. Since I am still doing local shows, the items in the Commissionable section would mostly be those items, while the items in Ready to Ship will be the available bigger items since they're a bit harder to sell locally. Of course, as items sell and become unavailable, they will be moved to the Commissionable section until such time that they are ready to ship again.Β

And there you have it! An update on our goals for the year! It's a lot of work but we're hoping to get it done. Be sure to keep an eye out for future updates as well as new items for sale! I'm going to try to post at least one Sunday a month, maybe two if I'm feeling ambitious (working out a schedule still) as I take new pics of merch and try to grow this little business of mine! Have a great 2024!
Apparently, some companies now are labeling mass-produced crochet items with "machine crocheted" to justify selling an entire granny square vest for 14 bucks.
1. Machines cannot crochet.
2. Knitting machines, to my knowledge, cannot make granny squares.
3. Even if there was a machine that could crochet, 14 bucks for an entire fucking vest is still too low to be paying people a livable wage basically anywhere in the world.
4. It takes me, a very fast crocheter, about twenty minutes to make one granny square in a single color with five rows. Multi-color granny squares take more time. I'll say 30 minutes. Next time you see a granny square anything in a big box store, count one row of squares and multiply by 20 (for single color squares) or 30 (multicolor squares). Then consider that it's skilled labor which should have an hourly wage you can live on. Then look at the price tag. This is Victorian piece work poor shit going on.
My queers, we really need to put the "no men" thing away. Men are not inherently bad. There are queer men. There are questioning men. There's men that are just plain cool. Denying these men a space at our table is not helping - except the TERFs. I just came off the back of reading a transphobe gleeful rant about the need to have pride without men - They of course mean me. This kind of stuff is damaging to me and I really need us all to take a step back and maybe kill this "men dni, men not allowed" stuff. What you mean is "no men who are going to do mean stuff to me." And frankly those men won't give a shit about that kind of boundary.
But I promise you there's a fleet of good honest men who will see that and be sad they're not allowed in your version of queer spaces.
PATRIARCHY is what you hate. Dni Patriarchs.
Omgosh look at the cute, chubby birbs, I love them so much π
I was putting all my eggs in a basket. But, I must have taken too long because they all turned into birds!

Hello and welcome to Nerdvana Crafts! Where you can find handmade gifts for the nerds in your life! My name is Sly and I am a neurodivergent fiber artist who crochets amigurumi from a variety of fandoms. Each item is made to order, and may take 2-4 weeks to make and ship. Each item is also made in the presence of a cat so if you have allergies, please message me and I will do everything in my power to prevent kitty contamination. All of my creations are intended as fan art, and because I use a variety of patterns, their sizes will vary as well!
