Gaboon viper
Bitis gabonica (Viperidae), the Gaboon Viper is a formidable and beautiful African snake, with wide, massive and heavy body, triangular head and short tail. The adults usually measure about 140 cm in length.
Although the toxicity of its venom (cytotoxic and neurotoxic) is rather low compared to other poisonous serpents, this is compensated by the large amount that can be inoculated in each bite.
