Hi there! I recently read one of your marvus fics and I loved how sweet and smothering you wrote him ^^ I was wondering if those requests are still open? If so could I request a marvus x Reader who just had a nightmare and marvus is comforting them? :0
Requests will always be open unless stated in my bio! But I've never gotten enough requests to warrant closing my inbox yet lol. This gave me so many ideas and ended up so much sappier than intended! I too want a big buff clown to comfort me from a nightmare, I think it'd be good for everyone XD
But I apologize it's taken me so long to get this done! So many ideas I didn't know what to choose and then life does what life does best. But here it is! Thank you so much for the request! I hope it meets your satisfaction and if not feel free to pop back in and request a different take on it!
Warnings: None. Its fairly gen. No actual romance I just had this thought that made me laugh.

The sound of your living room window being forced open was what woke you. Heart hammering in your chest as your hand went to the baseball bat you kept tucked away by your bed. Years of living in Gotham had made you hypervigilant of what sounds your apartment made and where. You knew for a fact that your living room window had been locked and that the sound of snapping wood had to have been the frame being forced open. The window lock itself was flimsy and you had brought it up multiple times with the landlord only to be shrugged off. Now you weren’t sure whether to feel petrified or triumphant that your concerns had been justified. Throwing back the blankets you stood slowly and raised the bat as you began creeping towards the open bedroom door. Out in the hall everything was still pitch black and you cursed yourself for not at least checking the time on the alarm by your bed. Your late night intruder hadn’t bothered to close the window behind them and the pale light of the moon and soft glow of the streetlights below gave you just enough light to see. A figure had collapsed on your couch, a hand dangling from where it awkwardly cushioned a head. As you cautiously shuffled closer you could make out the reflective glow of blue along the fingers. Your poor heart nearly collapsed in relief when you realized it was Nightwing, the resident vigilante of Bludhaven.
When you had moved to Bludhaven a year ago you had assumed it would involve a lot less vigilante sightings than Gotham. Looking down at the battered and bruised figure of Nightwing sprawled across your couch you had to admit, this officially made Bludhaven weirder than Gotham. If only because in your years of living in Gotham you had never had a run in with the resident gaggle of vigilantes. Taking in his sweat soaked and disheveled curls, the half curl of his body that suggested a good amount of pain, and the way he was actually too big to fit on your admittedly small futon with how his legs dangled off the other end you sighed.
A bird was a bird you supposed, Gotham looked after its own and while you had abandoned your home for Bludhaven the Gothamite still inside of you insisted you had a duty to look after the local vigilante. Setting the bat against the back of the couch you walked gingerly towards the window to assess the damage. Like you feared the lock had been snapped in two and the sizable crack that ran along the wooden frame was enough to tell you it was busted. You’d be living with a busted open window for the next few weeks while you scrounged around for enough money to cover repairs. Not even bothering to close it and risk damaging it further, you turned back towards your uninvited houseguest to check his own damage. In the light cast from the window you could make out a dark purpling bruise along the side of his face spanning from his temple to his jaw. Wincing in sympathy you shuffled closer and began gently prodding at his ribs. When he didn’t immediately shoot up in pain you returned your attention to his face. His mask was still firmly in place and you were grateful for it. You did not want to get dragged into the nightly struggle. Hoping that the bruising along his face was the worst of his injuries you tried to think of what to do next. You did not want to know what or who had managed to do that to the man. Instead you reached over and began unfolding the blanket you kept on the back of the couch. His suit left little to the imagination and you didn’t think it had to be very warm in the night chill now that he wasn’t actively fighting for his life and the lives of others. You could admit that despite the fact he was injured he had a nice figure. But that wasn’t something you’d be bringing up. Like most people you’d seen and heard about Nightwing enough to know how the media loved to sexualize him. It had to be exhausting and you weren’t about to add to it. Gently laying the blanket over him you wondered if he’d been exhausted or simply lost consciousness. There was no way for you to check without waking him and you dreaded the thought enough you weren’t about to even attempt it. Scrubbing an exhausted hand over your face you turned towards the bathroom where you kept your medkit. Closing the door mostly behind you before flicking on the lights you caught sight of your haggard appearance. You were exhausted from work. The dark circles under your eyes were a badge and testament to your workload. You missed Gotham’s much cheaper rent. Back in Crime Alley you hadn’t had to work as much as you did now. Sure the area had been Crime Alley but rent was cheap and so long as you kept your head down no one had bothered you much. Nudging open the cabinet underneath the sink you collected the medkit and swiftly left the bathroom. Now wasn’t the time to get lost in thought. Setting the kit down on the coffee table in what you hoped was Nightwing’s line of sight, you next turned your attention to the kitchen. As if on autopilot you shuffled in and grabbed what you needed to make a couple of sandwiches. You worked in silence as you stacked them on a paper plate and grabbed a water bottle from the fridge. Like most people you had a few waters in the fridge more for looks than an actual drink. Taking them to the coffee table you set them down next to the medkit. Sweeping one last concerned gaze over the vigilante still passed out on your couch you took a deep breath. You had done everything you could and you had at least enough confidence to know he wouldn’t die on your couch if you left him be. Satisfied he wouldn’t die in his sleep you left Nightwing be as you shuffled on back to your room and the sweet siren’s call of your warm bed.
In the morning you awoke half convinced it was a dream garnered by too much Lifetime TV. Especially when you saw the bat sitting against the nightstand. It wasn’t until you sat up that you had a feeling it wasn’t a dream. Your medkit sat at the foot of the bed. A place you would never leave it. Wide awake with adrenaline you shot out of bed to check if Nightwing was alright. What greeted you was an empty living room, the blanket folded and placed where it always was, no food or water left on the coffee table. Your second clue that it hadn’t been a strange dream came when you wandered into your own bathroom. Condensation clung to your mirror and one of your towels was definitely missing. Looking around further showed that he’d clearly had a shower before he left and you wondered exactly how tired you had to have been not to hear the water running considering the only bathroom in your apartment was in your room. Shaking it off you brushed your teeth and wondered why Nightwing had felt so comfortable showering in your apartment with only a flimsy bathroom door between you. Was he just that confident in his ability to sense someone sneaking up on him? Not that you would have even attempted. There were certain boundaries even you wouldn’t push and going out of your way to learn someone’s secret identity was one of them. Not that you thought you’d even recognize him. Grabbing the keys to your mailbox and a dog treat you locked the apartment door behind you. Like every morning you were going down to the ground floor to grab yesterday’s mail. No vigilante was going to ruin your morning routine.
No matter how bizarre.
Your routine was something you shared with your neighbor directly above you. Though more specifically you shared the routine with his dog. Your neighbor usually went down at the same time as you did every morning to grab yesterday’s mail and take his adorable puppy for her morning walk. To say you adored that dog would be an understatement. She had the ability to happily and shamelessly distract and derail your thoughts every time you saw her. She was the sweetest, happiest, thing you had ever seen with her wiggling body and lolling tongue. Truth be told, of which you would never admit, you could pick Haley out of a line up before you could pick out her owner. It was incredibly embarrassing but there was really nothing about Dick that stood out to you other than his dog. Sure, he was an attractive man, as your other neighbors liked to gossip, but Haley had always had your full attention. You hadn’t even realized how long he’d been your neighbor until he’d gotten Haley. Your direct nextdoor neighbor had practically laughed herself to tears when you admitted it to her. Cackling about how of course you’d notice the puppy before Dick ‘sex on legs’ Grayson. Which you couldn’t even argue against.
As always Haley was sitting by Dick’s feet and promptly burst into happy wiggles and pants at the sight of you. Dick glanced up and then he smiled in greeting before going back to his mail, Haley’s leash draped loosely over an arm. Like always you smiled back before grabbing your mail, feeling Haley start pawing at your leg for her daily treat. Tucking the mail underneath your arm you knelt down to scratch Haley behind the ears.
“Hi there sweetheart.” You cooed cheerfully just like every morning since you’d seen her. She was soft, smelling vaguely of vanilla and oatmeal shampoo. “Did your daddy give you a bath?”
You thought you might have heard a huff of a laugh from the man in question but Haley had already zeroed in on the treat in your hand and had sat down with impatient squirming for her treat.
“You’ve got her trained quicker than I have.” Dick groaned when you handed her the dog biscuit. That made you laugh.
“I’m just happy you let me spoil her. She’s such a good girl.” You smiled and gave her one last scratch before straightening up.
“She’s the best.” Dick agreed mildly before yawning. Your gaze was sympathetic.
“Long night?” You asked.
“Yeah. You?”
“Something like that.” You agreed unsure if you should admit to Nightwing stretched out on your couch in the wee hours of the morning. Or the fact he had apparently been comfortable enough to use your shower and steal one of your towels. Did that mean he was coming back? Or were you going to have to buy another towel?
“I better get going. You know how Haley gets when she can’t get her usual walk.” He told you with an affectionate eye roll. You laughed.
“I’d be cranky too if I couldn’t get in some exercise.” You teased, “Bye Haley.”
Haley yipped at you tail wagging as you wiggled your fingers at her.
“Have a safe walk.” You told Dick when you glanced back at him. He smiled.
“Yeah, thanks.”
You could feel his eyes watching you as you turned back towards the stairs and disappeared behind the door.
The bass was pounding hard enough you couldn’t tell where the music ended and your pulse began. Sandwiched between Marvus and a wall you could hear the party in full swing not even a scant few feet from the hallway the two of you were hidden in. Let’s Link still blaring through the speakers as Marvus’ face dipped lower. You bit your fist to stifle the frankly embarrassing moan that wanted to slip out. It was an entirely inappropriate time to be grinding against each other like horny teenagers when he had to be out on stage in just a scant few minutes but damn if it didn’t just make the entire situation that much hotter. You tightened your legs around his waist causing him to hiss against your jugular, his claws dug furrows into the wall and you hoped no one would notice that until the both of you were long gone from the party.
“Damn it, if this wasn’t a fuckin gig I swear-,” He snarled his own moan cutting him off as you pulled him in closer by his horns. His lips were quick to find yours hot and heavy as you both panted and moaned. He licked along your bottom lip before pressing in and soon the music was drowned out as the two of you continued to make out. You should have been trying to calm down, trying to pretend that you both weren’t horny and far too close to the edge. Every roll of his hips against yours, every nip and kiss, the iron grip he had on your hip to drag you closer as his other hand clawed at the wall- you were so close it was nearing painful.
“Aaaaaaannnnnnddddd lets hear it for our next act: MARVUS XOLOTO!!!”
“Fuck!” You snapped as the announcer called for him. Marvus growled and bared his teeth, eyes scarlet with rage at being interrupted.
“When this party is over we’re finishing what we started.” He hissed in your ear before pulling away. You let out a small whine as all the friction was taken away from you. The crowd was cheering wildly as he set you down on the ground again- you had to grab the wall to stay standing, your legs shaky from nearly getting to get off. He was lucky to be wearing plain black pants even though they were skin tight, no doubt there would have been an obvious stain had he been wearing his normal ones. He leaned down for one more lingering kiss before finally heading towards the stage. You swore yet again slamming your fist into the wall as you slid down to sit. The party couldn’t be over soon enough.
Warnings: Kinda smutty?? Possessive feelings.

Rodimus liked to think he’d done well in getting close to his human liaison, especially after what had happened with Commander Hennis when the humans had first come aboard the Lost Light. She had been a well respected woman, no nonsense, she had reminded him of Megatron in a way with her complete command over her crew and the clear experience she had had. It was a tragedy that he hadn’t had the time to get to know her the way her crew had before they were ambushed. She’d given her life to protect her crew and give them the chance to get away and in that chaos where her co-commander had floundered a new face had taken charge. You had been a bit of a nobody in the sense that while your crewmates knew you enough to be friendly you had faded into the background to follow orders. It was a little funny in a tragic kind of way to learn that you’d been part of a space program that was never supposed to see combat and had been put into Commander Hennis’ crew at her own request. He hadn’t had the chance yet to learn the story on that. But he had seen you rise up to take charge when everything had fallen into chaos. You used your own connections to the crew to help them first as a sympathetic shoulder and then as a voice of reason when it became clear that under Commander Jameson your crew would mutiny. Rodimus and Megatron had seen how Commander Jameson had been more concerned with humiliating challenges of authority than getting his own crew out of the firing line of your enemies, had seen you dutifully guide and assure your crew of a direction- taking suggestions and working to work with your crew as a unit instead of an outright authority. You had been the leader the crew had needed in the time of Commander Hennis’ passing. Which had made your promotion as the technical human captain and liaison to Rodimus obvious.
Unfortunately Commander Jameson had disagreed.
Rodimus hadn’t had much to say about the commander before your promotion. He was rude only in the way a former drill sergeant was, he wanted to be obeyed without question, but he also did his job to a remarkable degree. At least so long as you weren’t the one giving the orders. He argued and questioned you on everything and worst of all, you simply let him. Treating his complaints and questions as genuine no matter their absurdity. Your professionalism only served to anger the commander more as you failed to rise to the bait. It only proved their decision to promote you was the right one as your attitude towards Jameson had made the crew feel safe enough to approach you with concerns they felt were trivial. Sometimes they were, or other times they were genuine issues that wouldn’t have been caught had you not made yourself so open to your crew and the crew of the Lost Light. Despite not being a fan of overly professional types your warm demeanor had made it hard for Rodimus to hold any annoyance with you. You were no Ultra Magnus, which was for the better he supposed. Which made Commander Jameson’s constant complaints and accusations against you all the more annoying. Everything you did didn’t seem good enough to the man, he argued against your continued authority like Rodimus would change his mind just to prevent a further headache or fight. Instead it only made Rodimus all the more aware of you and your apparent inability to reprimand Commander Jameson’s insubordination. The more he argued with the commander the more he felt possessive of you. It had caught him by surprise at first, that swell of possessive fury when he’d walked in on the commander yet again arguing against some decision you made as you patiently explained yourself. He might have continued to keep out of it if he hadn’t noticed a tiny detail when the commander had finally stormed out to do his job, your hands were shaking. A fine tremble you hid by putting them in your lap and straightening your posture from where you sat at your desk, taking deep breaths in before releasing them slowly. When you’d opened your eyes, before you had noticed Rodimus was even standing there, you had looked exhausted and teary-eyed. All of it gone the minute you blinked and saw him standing there. That image had stuck with him like a plague as he continued to watch the commander make an ass of himself.
Which was why he had already drawn up Commander Jameson’s transfer. Convincing Megatron to sign it had been laughably easy. All he had needed was your signature and then he wouldn’t have to fight the urge to wring the human’s neck. When he had heard the human crew was partying it up at Swerve’s he’d assumed you’d be with them. You liked to keep on friendly if still professional terms with them and if invited you had yet to turn the offer down, using it as a chance to ensure your crew got to their own quarters safely after drinking away their troubles. He hadn’t wanted to trouble you or potentially ruin your night with the documents and had simply planned to transfer and leave the documents in your quarters for when you eventually made your way back to your room to sleep.
Entering your room had been easy, as captain he had clear access to all rooms aboard the ship and that included his fellow captains. He didn’t even hear the water in the bathroom running as he made his way to where you had propped up your datapad. It was then that the bathroom door slid open and he was left to freeze where he was standing. Just like before you had that tired expression on your face, the only difference being a vague contentment you must have felt about heading towards your bed. At least until you finally saw him. You straightened up immediately, the flush to your cheeks caused by the heat of your shower draining away. Water trailed down your skin in distracting rivulets, the towel stopping at your upper thighs and pulled tight around your body. You’d begun clutching it like a life line as your eyes blew wide.
“Captain!” You sounded breathless. Most likely from surprise but Rodimus couldn’t help the shiver that wanted to wrack through his frame. Heat pooled in his face as his fans kicked on faintly to cool him off. He knew his optics must have been blown wide.
“I-,” His voicebox turned static as he attempted to ignore the way your towel left so little and yet so much to the imagination. “I didn’t realize you were here.”
“I thought I’d get an early night, Sir.” Your voice was bashful and Rodimus was taken aback by the way his frame had heated at you calling him ‘sir’. Your eyes darted to the side and he watched as something akin to horror flashed quickly across your face before your eyes darted back to him involuntarily. His optics followed your line of sight and he froze, joints locking in place. There were your usual drab pajamas, he was more than familiar with them as you often wore them to bed and would come barreling out of your room in them should an emergency pop up that left you little time to dress. But that wasn’t what had made him freeze and lock up. No. It was what was on top of your standard sleepwear that had his mind going in multiple directions at once. His optics had seen the lacey set of panties first, a cute lace trim with mesh cutouts along the sides that would give someone an uninterrupted view of your thighs save for the lace, the cute little lace trim that made an almost guiding arrow to where your valve would be if you were wearing them. He meant to look away but had only succeeded in further short circuiting his brain when he saw the bra. It had the same lacey frills- though there was more volume to the frills than with the panties- down the front and he could see the rather cute bows that were stitched to the straps giving it the illusion you could unravel it and find-
Find-
Oh Primus.
He knew his face must have been flushed, his fans barely able to cool him down as he couldn’t even tear his eyes away from the set.
“Ahem,” You cleared your throat pointedly and he cursed himself mentally for staring, “Was there a particular reason you were coming into my quarters Captain?”
He straightened up so quickly it was a wonder his plating didn’t creak as his grip tightened on his holopad begging for strength.
“Ah- yes. There was- well… Ahem. To be honest-,” He was stammering and he couldn’t stop. Looking at you wasn’t helping with the way the towel had slowly begun to slip and he was certain if you dropped it any restraint he thought he had would be gone. “I wanted your opinion on a transfer I’ve been considering.”
“A transfer?”
“Yes. One of the humans here.”
Just like that you were back to being professional. Even still wearing nothing but a towel you managed to exude an air of control. Luckily for him just the thought of Commander Jameson was enough to kill any arousal he had for the situation. Though he wasn’t sure if the possessive annoyance that name evoked in relation to you was any better.
“May I ask the reason for transfer?”
“Insubordination.” He replied, unable to control the flat rage that Jameson had evoked in him.
“And the crewmember?” You asked. He wanted to scoff, it was obvious who he wanted to go. The rest of your crew had done well to integrate and even better to get along and follow orders. There was only one person it could have been and your apparent ignorance made that annoyance flare up all the more.
“Commander Jameson.”
“What?” You asked the question clearly slipping out before you could stop it. Why were you so surprised?
“I think it would be best for both the crew and for Commander Jameson himself if he were placed with a different vessel.”
“My apologies then Captain, I had thought that Commander Jameson had been merely targeting me due to the promotional passover that occurred following Commander Hennis’ passing.I hadn’t a clue he’d been lashing out towards other higher-ups. Please allow me to talk with him and discuss these matters, I shall ensure he keeps his issues with the chain of command solely with me.”
“That’s the problem!” Rodimus shouted, waving his arm through the air. You jumped. “He shouldn’t be treating you that way in the first place! You received the promotion because you earned it. Your crew would have been killed if you hadn’t made the calls you did and kept a level head. While Commander Jameson was too busy trying to prove himself you were putting in the actual work. You brought your crew together, you led them into action, you pulled them through that dark time. Not him! I am tired of hearing his baseless complaints about your leadership. You’ve gone above and beyond what was expected of you for the sake of your human crew and your cybertronian companions!”
To his amazement he realized you were blushing, the flush traveling from your hairline down to your chest and Rodimus had to swallow back all the dangerous thoughts he wanted to voice at the sight.
“I understand that Rodimus and I thank you for your conviction of my skills,” You replied soothingly, adjusting your hold on your towel, “However, I have a duty to my crew. Commander Jameson’s grievances are with me and me alone. Outside of that he has followed all his orders from other officers to a perfect T. Unless there are incidents I haven’t been informed of..?” You trailed off waiting for a reply. He hated the fact you were making a valid point, that he didn’t have a list of grievances a mile long to present to you other than his utter contempt towards the commander.
“... No. He’s followed orders from other crew members well enough.” He admitted begrudgingly. You offered him a sincerely sympathetic smile that had the possessive feelings he was trying to valiantly to push down bubbling up like acid.
“Then I owe him the chance to discuss options with me first before the call is made for him. If he wishes to transfer then I will be happy to have him transferred, but if he wishes to stay then that decision should be respected as well.”
He fought back the urge to scowl. If he had it his way Commander Jameson would be taking a surprise trip out of the nearest airlock.
I see it’s been a little bit since your last posts. Just wondering if you are actively taking requests?
I am ALWAYS taking requests. Please, nothing makes me happier than seeing my inbox be flooded with multiple requests. I want to see it burst. I love opening up my little tumblr app and seeing all the ideas you guys have. PLEASE send me requests and asks and whatever other things pop into your precious little heads.
There was nothing quite like going for a random walk. The urge hadn’t hit you for a very long time- so long in fact a small tremor of fear shot through you. It couldn’t be him. He’d been destroyed with the creation of the new worlds and the new timeline. Simply put, there wasn’t a way for him to reach through the ever calling void to pluck your strings. But for a moment you were reminded of your time on Alternia. You’d traversed that planet in a mind controlled haze and it was an experience that left you shaken. One you never wished to experience again. So when the urge to get up and go somewhere hit you it had taken you an embarrassingly long time to calm your racing heart. It was an ordinary urge, one that didn’t mean you were back under his control. Still, you were anxious as you stepped out of your front door. Your little corner of the world wasn’t all that exciting. A welcome reprieve from the constant action Alternia had given you. As it was, the neighborhood was as calm as any other day. Afternoon sunlight filtered over the houses and across the sidewalks giving everything a warm feeling. There was no reason for your anxiety. Even so, you took careful steps. You weren’t interested in making friends this time around. Just going for a simple walk. Your coat kept the autumn chill off and you were happy about your sturdy boots. Both had cost you pretty penny but the price had been well worth the quality. It also helped that they looked damn good on you.
It took less time than you remembered to reach downtown. Everything a steady stream of people and activity. People were no doubt doing last minute shopping. You wandered down the streets with no particular destination in mind. There was a little hole in the wall coffee shop not too far away that you liked to frequent. They had some of the best drinks and their prices didn’t leave your wallet openly weeping. Then there was the bakery not too far away that had the best donuts you’d ever had. Among all the shops there was plenty to choose from that you’d enjoy. You decided to go to the coffee shop first. The darker lighting and overstuffed armchairs hidden in the corners were exactly what would set your mind at ease. They had no bell to alert them to customers- music soft but unmistakable floated through the air. That wonderful coffee smell permeated the building and it took little time for the barista to get your drink made and hand it to you. Dropping a tip into the tip jar you took your drink and sat in the furthest arm chair you could find from the door and the drink station. As far as anyone was concerned you were simply part of the backdrop. Pulling out your phone you scroll through the latest news feeds and try not to lose your will to live. Things will always keep happening and quite frankly you aren’t sure how much you can take anymore. Or rather, what was that popular quote? Something about drawing a line somewhere and looking deep inside of yourself for what you’re willing to put up with today. Either way it isn’t this shit.
You’re so engrossed in the latest bullshit your country is spouting you almost don’t notice the new occupant of the coffee shop. Almost. Too many years being on a hair-trigger of flight or fight have engrained a deep sense of your surroundings. Even if they hadn’t you’d recognize this particular customer anywhere. Her hat is pulled low over her face and her steps purposely soundless. You both know that the barista and the other customers haven’t noticed her. There is only the steady swish of her coat as she walks and even that is drowned out by the music. You look down at your phone and watch her out of your peripherals. She takes a seat across from you as silent as a phantom which is just the way she likes it. You both know that you’ve seen each other. She makes no move to talk and neither do you. If she sought you out then that means there’s a problem. None of your other friends had reached out to you and while you hadn’t attempted to hide you made no move to reach out first. It would be a long time before you felt secure enough to reach out first in your friendships again.
“He’s gone.” She says barely a whisper. You bob your head in a nod. Its a statement not a question. “I’ve managed to keep tabs on all of our mutual acquaintances.”
“I expected nothing less from you.”
“Adalov has been cyberstalking you.” That makes you glance up. There’s the barest hint of an amused smile on her lips. You raise a brow for her to continue. You weren’t completely unaware but if Boldir is bringing it up then its more significant than you gave credit for.
“He’s been methodically going through every scrap of information about you he can get his claws on.” She pauses to take your drink from you and take a sip, you let her because despite everything you still consider her a friend. You’re pretty sure she knows this too. “He started out doing so of his own volition, however, I believe an acquaintance of yours- Dirk Strider- is also cyberstalking you. Adalov has taken note of that and started stalking him as well-,”
“Which in turn means Dirk is stalking him.” That almost makes you laugh, the two of them stalking each other to see what the other is up to is just the type of Spy vs Spy bullshit that only leads to further shenanigans. Even Boldir has a look that says she thinks its equally as amusing. The two of you sit in a momentary silence. A comforting thing you’d almost forgot to miss. Now it settles around you like a warm blanket. Taking your drink back from Boldir you take a sip.
“I have a feeling Adalov and Strider will try and contact you at some point soon. I thought...” She hesitates for a moment- eyes darting, “I thought I should warn you so that you aren’t caught by surprise. I know the control he had over you has made you wary.”
“Boldir... I may not have reached out but that doesn’t mean I’ve missed you any less. I can’t bring myself to be the first to reach out. Not after... Everything that happened on Alternia. But I’d never turn away a friend.” You reached across the little table to hold her hand. Her claws dig into your skin with how hard she grips it back and you watch the way she relaxes. It’s almost enough to break your heart.
“Would you like to go on a walk with me?” She asks, voice uncharacteristically fragile. You smile as you stand up with your drink.
“I’d love to.”
Decided to post some quick drabbles I had between classes!
Heart trying to escape out of your throat you sat up in your bed breathing hard. For a moment you could still hear the sounds of the alarms on your little rocket ship blaring in alert as you crashed into Alternia’s surface. But as you began to wake more you realized you were safe- Alternia long behind you. Trembling from adrenaline you shakily threw off your blankets and slipped out of bed. Your legs felt weak, fawn-like as you wandered out of Marvus’ guest room. For the life of you, you couldn’t figure out what had triggered the nightmare. It had been years since that night, you weren’t even on Alternia anymore. Trying to calm yourself you stumbled into the kitchen and took a seat at the island. It was nothing. Nothing at all. You had experienced much worse than the shuttle crash since then and came out on the other side. Out of all the nightmares you had had since then it baffled and frustrated you that the crash was the most frequent of all. Behind you was the shuffle of feet and you nearly jumped out of your skin as you turned to find Marvus shuffling into the kitchen.
“Hey lil buddy was up?” He asked tiredly, voice gravelly from sleep. Guilt over waking him nearly choked you.
“I didn’t mean to wake you.” You spoke softly.
“Nah, don’ worry bout it. What’s wrong? Y’look like you seen some shit.”
“It was just an old nightmare. Nothing I can’t handle.”
That just made Marvus frown as he came to sit beside you, dragging his stool close enough your knees brushed.
“Wanna talk bout it?”
“Not… Not really.”
Marvus sighed, reaching out to lay his hand on your leg in a soothing gesture. His thumb rubbed at the exposed skin, his cold hands remarkably grounding as you fought down the shivers of phantom panic.
“I know I ain’t yo diamond or nothin’ but you do be knowin’ I still care bout you right?”
“Of course.”
“But you still don’ wanna talk bout it.”
“Its an old nightmare Marvus, comes back up every once in awhile. But its over now. That’s what matters.”
“Still hurtin’ you somethin’ fierce though.”
“Marvus.” You sighed. He glanced away with a clear scowl before shaking his head.
“I don’ like seein’ you this worked up. ‘Specially when there ain’t a damn thing to do bout it.”
“I know. I’m sorry for waking you.”
“Don’t.” He spoke voice surprisingly firm, you glanced up at him to find him staring at you intently, almost angrily, “Don’t apologize. I don like the thought of you jus’ hidin’ away til your thinkpan’s on straight. Ain’t right.”
“People have nightmares all the time.”
“Yeah? Well you ain’t jus’ people to me.”
You could feel the tears burning at your eyes, the stress of your nightmare rearing its ugly head. For a brief moment it was as if the deafening screech of metal was all around you again. Taking a deep breath you placed your hand on top of his.
“Thanks Marvus.”
His other hand came up to carefully wipe the tears from your eyes. Movements gentle as his thumb caressed your cheek.
“What can I do?” He asked after a moment when the tears just kept coming.
“I don’t…” More tears welled in your eyes blurring his face, “I don’t know.”
What a terrifying thought. The realization you didn’t know what would make you feel better at all. His hand brushed across your cheek again, then past it until he was carefully cupping the back of your head. He tilted you forwards as he leaned down until your foreheads were touching.
“That’s okay. Lemme jus’ take care of ya.” He spoke, voice soft. He tilted away from you to place a kiss to your scalp. “Don’ worry bout nothin’.”
A shuddering breath left you as he deftly moved to lift you into his arms, wrapping your arms around his neck you buried your head in his shoulder. Tears were burning at your eyes, trailing down your cheeks more insistent than before as you wrapped your legs around his legs.
“I’ve got you. Ain’t nothin’ gon’ get you tonight, babe.” Claws rubbing soothingly up and down your back you allowed yourself to cry openly. Sobbing without restraint into his shoulder as he carried you back to bed. He wouldn’t shush you, the comfort he offered was different than what Polypa offered as your moirail. But it was more than you expected to receive and genuine. So very genuine. You knew he’d cleave the world in two if you asked and it terrified you as much as it soothed you.
But tonight you could admit that it was what you needed. To know you were safe, to know you were loved, it was enough.
