You know that saying, only I can be mean to my brother/sister. The same thing goes for friends, and I kind of think it's hilarious that the people we trust the most in the world are the kind of people that will torture us the most. I can only imagine what another race would think...
Alien: what are they doing?
Human *looks over to where two girls are giggling as they walk along the edge of the roof, keeping one guy trapped between them*: So, Caiden's afraid of heights.
Alien *nods*: that is a logical reaction to a height that could kill you if you fall. Your body has evolved correctly.
Human *shakes his head*: Well, Wren and Jess found out and now they are torturing him. They won't let him off the edge until he walks the entire side.
Alien: Is this an intimidation tactic?
*both girls giggle loudly*
Human: believe it or not, it's a sign of friendship.
Alien: ...to force one's body to react in a fight or flight response?
Human *shrugs*: to make your friends miserable at your expense.
Alien *takes step away*: we are not friends. To be clear.

You can get this scene in my book, Humans Are Weird, available now! The whole series is pinned on my page.
I would love to see a fantasy novel where the lore that the reader / protagonist learns at first is not true
Thank you for the signal boost!
Hey, I made a survey for the recent writing project I am working on. If you want, feel free to fill it out. The questions may feel a bit random at times, but I promise they are relevant. And may have something to do with kissable object head people.

Now, more than ever, it's important you don't let current events dissuade you from writing. We have to be bold, and loud, and authentic to who we are. Your story matters. Your voice matters. Don't be afraid. Don't curtail your vision to comply with anyone or any other source of creative oppression. We can't afford to concede ground or be complacent. Artistic integrity is our duty to who we are as people.
hello !! take this as a free token to ramble about your wips. what are you LOVING writing rn? who are your favourite characters? favourite pairings?
My current project is kind of difficult to describe. It was inspired by dating games often not having options that my friends and I like. It's set in the dream world where there's entities made out of the world's hopes and dreams, but also entities made out of the world's nightmares and fears. It's basically gonna be an OC x reader type blog with heroes and villains for readers to swoon over. I do plan to write a story that connects with it though, which lets readers see the complex relationships between some of the heroes and villains up close and personal. My favorite is Nurse Sanguine and Mrs Robust. Think the crazed doctor trope meets the overly fake/polite business person trope. It's fun because writing hero culture and their world lets me connect to my favorite parts of fantasy stories. Writing villain culture and their world lets me connect to my favorite parts of horror stories.
The other project I am trying to get back into is Sleep Laughing. I want to develop the main character more, who is considered a villain within his sci-fi universe, and has a sort of forbidden romance with one of the hero's friends. I really need to get their dynamic down, because I think it could be super interesting and complex if I focused the vibes I have for them.
Thank you so much for asking! I love talking about my writing. /gen
Fair enough!
Happy storyteller saturday! What are you most looking forward to writing in your current WIP?
Honestly? No idea. I don't think like that. I don't (usually) have a scene, a specific character, or even a theme when I start a story. I have the seed of an idea and just write. Thanks for the ask.
Speaking of, tempted to make a community myself, but since I have a variety of unconnected works, I have no idea what that would be a community for. Kind of reminds me of the idea I had to try and get myself posting again, mainly making like, a sort of dating sim kind of group of characters to play around with.
Y'all want me to make object head people for you to kiss? SFUIHSFU
so this European clothing retailer decided to advertise their jean cuts on youtube and it's unintentionally the funniest shit I've seen today. why? well.
now important context here: in German, die (pronounced 'dee') is just a feminine article, it literally means "the".
but if an ad gets placed in the middle of an English video and doesn't use a single explicitly German word for most of the ad, even a native speaker is gonna think "they want me to die how?" it keeps getting funnier.
I mean, holy shit
i will use these as reaction images until i die
I've gotten some really good responses, and thank you all who took the survey! I am unfortunately not in the mental headspace right now to start properly working on this, so if you didn't answer the survey before but want to, now is your chance. I don't think I'll ever be closing the survey, mind you, but at some point things will start to be set in stone, and though new responses will serve as inspiration, they probably won't be a part of the character creation process.
