Please for the love of everything that has ever existed... watch the movie and support it in cinemas or streaming - wherever - so that we have a trilogy . . .
Future meet Past
THAT scene k i l l e d me. I was in pieces when megatron was born. Completely rocked my world. God I'm so happy to be alive to witness this movie and this breakup again and again in different continuities.
reblog if you think these are all valid reasons for a student or an employee to take a day off from their school or their job without their grades or paycheck being affected in any way:
- period cramps
- exhaustion, be it mental or physical
- depression, anxiety, and other mental health related issues
Just two girlfriends enjoying a summer picnic šš
you know i donāt think we often talk about how difficult it actually is to suddenly realize that a belief you thought was good and moral and correct was actually really fucking toxic. how you have to look at something and go āoh shit, oh i fucked up. oh this is going to take probably years at minimum to deprogram from my brain because of all the little ways this shit pervaded the rest of my beliefsā
so. to all the people picking up all the pieces of a recently shattered world-view and trying to figure out what is safe to keep and what has to be thrown away and started over
to all the people having to relearn how to even listen to other people
to all the people putting in the work to do better while struggling with the guilt that comes from finding out you were the asshole
iām proud of yāall.
itās hard to admit being wrong and even harder to change in the aftermath. just keep doing the best you can and just know that the effort is appreciated. everyone can change. everyone can do better. keep fighting.
First of all, WOOHOO a tweet about Sailor Moon got almost 200k likes!
Secondly, YES this is an aspect of Sailor Moon that I've always loved but hesitated to voice just because I don't want to be mistaken for a creep, lol. Both the anime and manga/Crystal reboot utilize nudity not only in an artistic sense, but as a way to represent a character being stripped down to their truest self, the essence of their very soul.
In fact, in the manga, characters in dreams, visions, or in the space between life and death (among other situations) are shown to be entirely naked or are depicted with clothes that seamlessly blend into their bodies.
And of course, the finale of the final arc has Usagi saving the day not through a last-minute power-up form, but by stripping down to her purest, truest self:
Sailor Moon has so many great examples of non-sexual artistic nudity and I hate when people are too immature to see what Naoko Takeuchi was going for.
I also love how, at the same time, Naoko doesn't portray sexuality/sex as something dirty and impure. I've said this before, but in the manga Usagi is heavily implied to be sexually active with Mamoru (in fact, it's outright stated that she's already pregnant with Chibiusa on their wedding day), but in no way does that diminish her role as the purest being in the universe and the star that shines the brightest.
I will keep screaming this into the void forever: Naoko Takeuchi and Sailor Moon really were ahead of their time, and that's why the series still resonates with so many people today.
I told Miyazaki I love the āgratuitous motionā in his films; instead of every movement being dictated by the story, sometimes people will just sit for a moment, or they will sigh, or look in a running stream, or do something extra, not to advance the story but only to give the sense of time and place and who they are.
āWe have a word for that in Japanese,ā he said. āItās called ma. Emptiness. Itās there intentionally.ā
Is that like the āpillow wordsā that separate phrases in Japanese poetry?
āI donāt think itās like the pillow word.ā He clapped his hands three or four times. āThe time in between my clapping is ma. If you just have non-stop action with no breathing space at all, itās just busyness, But if you take a moment, then the tension building in the film can grow into a wider dimension. If you just have constant tension at 80 degrees all the time you just get numb.ā
Which helps explain why Miyazakiās films are more absorbing and involving than the frantic cheerful action in a lot of American animation. I asked him to explain that a little more.
āThe people who make the movies are scared of silence, so they want to paper and plaster it over,ā he said. āTheyāre worried that the audience will get bored. They might go up and get some popcorn.
But just because itās 80 percent intense all the time doesnāt mean the kids are going to bless you with their concentration. What really matters is the underlying emotionsāthat you never let go of those.
ā Roger Ebert in conversation with Hiyao Miyazaki
So glad to be team "I can't wait to see what direction they take the show in" rather than "this is the direction I want the show to go in and if it doesn't go in that direction I will be severely disappointed and Viv is a bad writer also"
Like it's not your show, it's her show, if you want a show that's different write it yourself then. Just because you expected the show to go in a certain direction doesn't mean the writers owe you that. And like,,, okay you're allowed to be disappointed for yourself but don't be all "the writing is [objectively] bad and the show is bad I thought this was gonna happen and it didn't waaah"
People will get mad when it comes off too fan service-y but also get mad when something happens that they don't like. Make it make sense.
Okay Iām currently furious that migraines are often so blindly easy to treat and I had to find this out myself at the age of 26 when Iāve been to a neurologist since I was 11 lol so Iām about to teach you two neat and fast little tricks to deal with pain!
The first is the sternocleidomastoid muscle, or the SCM muscle.
This big red section is responsible for pain around the eye, cheekbone, and jaw, as well as some temple pain. Literally all you have to do is angle your head down a little, angle it away from the side that hurts, and then you can gently pinch and rub that muscle. I find it best to start at the bottom and travel upwards. The relief is so immediate! You can increase pressure as you feel comfortable doing so.
Here is a short and easy video showing this in action
The second is a fast and easy stretch that soothes your vagus nerve, which is the nerve responsible for calming you down. The vagus nerve, for those unfamiliar, is stimulated by deep breathing such as yawning, sighing, singing, or taking a deep breath to calm your anger in a tense situation.
You can stretch this out by sitting up as straight as possible (this does not have to be perfect to work) and interlacing your fingers. Put your hands on the back of your head with your thumbs going down the sides of your neck and, while keeping your face forward, look all the way to one side with just your eyes. Hold that until you feel the urge to breathe deeply or yawn, or until you can tell thereās a change. Then do the same thing on the other side. When you put your arms down, you should clearly be able to turn your head farther in both directions. If the first session doesnāt get rid of your migraine, rest and repeat as many times as necessary. I even get a little fancy with it and roll my eyes up and down along the outer edge sometimes to stretch as much as I can.
If you need a visual hereās a good video on it. I know some of the language they use seems questionable but this is real and simple science and should not be discarded because itās been adopted by the trendy wellness crowd!
I seriously cannot believe I didnāt hear a word of this from any doctor in my life. Additionally, if you get frequent recurring migraines, you may want to see a dietician. Migraines can be caused by foods containing histamines, lectin, etc. and can also be caused by high blood pressure in specific situations such as exercise, stress, and even sex.
If any of this information helps you Iād love to hear it btw! Itās so so fast and easy to do. Good luck!
