Don't apologize for SHIT! Imma be crazy right there with you, Pal! π
I apologize in advance for the level of crazy Iβm going to become tomorrow while watching Ewan get his star on the walk of fame (and Hayden speak!).
Back for another: Lincoln 6-Echo, (The Island) 25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now?
I rewatched The Island not too long ago and honestly my impression of Lincoln has stayed the same. He's very intelligent for someone so innocent and oh my GOD, absolutely adorable. Truly pure of heart.
Genre: Erotic/Romance
Rating: Un-Rated
Director: Peter Greenaway
Starring: Vivian Wu, Yoshi Oida, Ewan McGregor
Synopsis: "The Pillow Book" is an erotic film about a woman, Nagiko, who has a fetish for men writing on her body. What started as an innocent tradition of her father writing on her for her birthday, evolved into an obsession with finding the perfect calligrapher / lover. Nagiko also aspires to be a writer like her namesake, Sei Shonagon, the author of The Pillow Book. After she is rejected by a book publisher who sexually assaulted her father she instead decides to walk the path of revenge.
Ewan Review: Ewan McGregor plays the character Jerome, a bisexual English translator. He is chosen by Nagiko to help with her revenge unbeknownst to him. He is completely nude several times in the film, has a female and male love interest, and sex scenes with both of them. He has an English accent for the movie and has a couple lines in French and Japanese. Another fun fact: you might notice that he's pretty slender in this role and that's because he was in the process of losing weight for his role in "Trainspotting".
Screentime Percentage: Ewan is on screen for a grand total of 28/127 minutes making his SP 22%.
To Ewan or not to Ewan: Is this movie worth watching for Ewan content alone? Yes! Did I mention the nudity? Is it worth watching in general? I say yes. I know this movie won't be for everyone. It's a weird story, highly erotic, and has slow pacing. Still, I enjoy it and wouldn't dissuade someone from watching.
Where to Watch: "The Pillow Book" is currently available to rent through YouTube.
Movie Warnings: There are some things that happen in the movie that you might want to be aware of before committing to watching it. Nudity nudity and more nudity! Women and men are naked and yes that includes seeing their genitals. There are a LOT of penises in this movie. There's blackmail via sexual assault as well as a suicide scene, skin cutting, blood, and defiling of a dead body.
Conclusion: The Pillow Book" is a beautiful work of art. Though it is a weird story, it's also interesting and captures your attention. Though it's highly erotic, the eroticism adds value to the story and isn't there just for shock. And while the pacing may be slow, it allows the viewer to absorb information and appreciate the visual storytelling. I encourage you to open your mind and give it a chance. Like Nagiko, you just might learn something new about yourself.
Thank you for making these vinyl tours; it's seriously so creative! I just want you to know that I take my time going through these pictures like I'm on an actual tour lol. I like seeing the detail MCR put into it.

The front + back of the jacket
Front + back of the lyric insert
The vinyl sleeve
Both sides of the vinyl. I liked the added detail of the color change of the label for side a and side b!
The sound is fine! I enjoyed giving it a listen and will again in the future.
For those that care, I'm pressing pause on writing fics for now. I already haven't been writing regularly due to changes in my personal life. I still might drop some here and there though. That brings me to a new idea I've been brainstorming: reviewing Ewan McGregor movies!
Now you might be thinking that's not very original and you'd be correct. @palfriendpatine66 has reviews of some of Ewan's movies and you should check them out! However, I want to do something slightly different. A friend of mine jokingly mentioned they wished that there was a way to see how much screentime Ewan was in so they could decide if the movie was worth their time. I've also seen this sentiment shared a few times here on Tumblr. So I thought it'd be fun to go through his filmography and tally the minutes of screentime myself!
Here's the plan. I will be reviewing movies and TV movies starting with his first role and working towards the present or for however long I stay invested. Cameos and guest appearances will be excluded. Also excluded are TV shows and documentaries. So Halston, the Long Way series, and such won't be reviewed here. The movie reviews will include a tally at the end of how many minutes of screentime Ewan was in compared to how long the movie was. That number will then be converted to a percentage. Example: Ewan had 30/60 minutes of screentime. His screentime percentage is 50%.
I'm very excited and would love to hear y'all's thoughts on the idea!
Another one! Also, I 100% agree with the person who said this is them but reversed π€ like you KNOW that Christian is the one waking Satine in the middle of the night to ask her these questions and she's just used to it by now π
Letβs spread a little sunshine βοΈ drop this sunflower π» into the inboxes of the blogs that make you happy! π
Thank you! You're so sweet. It's hard for me to believe that I make people happy. Compliments like these mean more than you know. Thank you π«Ά
Okay so here's my unsolicited thoughts:
I'm thinking these particular options are meant to represent the weakest songs of each artists discography. I'm only saying that because I've noticed that the MCR fandom dogs on Teenagers (overplayed maybe?) and that the PatD fans think High Hopes was booty cheeks. I don't know nothing about FOB fandom but I'm going to assume based on the other two that Centuries isn't a fan favorite either.
So the opponents in this brawl are all very weak already. Now, we have to decide who is the weakest of the weak. π§ Remember! (For me) This isn't about which song is more POPULAR, it's about which song can PHYSICALLY overpower the other two, hence them being in a fight.
Okay so immediately, I think Teenagers is getting knocked out cold. The song is a flee-er not a fighter and that's okay. π The song is about a grown man being scared to death at the mere presence of children so it's getting eliminated easily.
Next on the chopping block is High Hopes. I think High Hopes would put up a very respectable fight and give it everything it's got. The song is about believing in yourself and chasing your dreams no matter the odds. It's very plucky and optimistic and therefore I think it's willing to get into fisticuffs if something is blocking it's path to success. However, it also has a very starry-eyed innocence to it. I think that just because it's willing to fight doesn't mean it's capable of WINNING a fight. So, after a courageous effort, it would be eliminated.
Which means I think the winner of the brawl would be Centuries! It has a similar theme to High Hopes but has the guts and maturity that High Hopes lacks. It has a very Naruto-ish "I will become Hokage no matter what, believe it!" energy which gives it the edge it needs to take the crown.
So there's my thoughts on the matter! I'm so happy cuz I love overthinking about fun polls like this! π
what do yβall think of this edit I made
Wow this is so beautiful π₯Ή
Jumping on the @palfriendpatine66 love train, when I first joined Tumblr I saw her as like, the leader of Ewan McGregor Tumblr and looked to her for advice on how to navigate the space. I probably sounded so dumb and still she graciously answered my questions, held space for me to vent about my writing struggles, and for a time was the only person I could gush about Ewan with. She's truly a shining example of how fans should interact with each other and just a genuinely kind person. I look up to her and strive to be as welcoming to newcomers in fandom as she was to me.
Who's the fandom friend you've known the longest?
I think maybe @palfriendpatine66 (if that's okay to call you a friend? π«£). I wasn't super involved in fandoms before, mostly lurking, but when I started really getting into star wars (again) I read Pining in Preschool and started following @palfriendpatine66 on tumblr, and thanks to their kindness I got the guts to get more actively involved, which is one of the best things that happened to me so huge thanks for that ππ
Today was GREAT day. I feel amazing and so happy. It really feels like things are looking up. β€οΈ
