I GOT THEM!!!! And y'all, by the time I got off work there was not just one, not two, but THREE Ewan movies available and I got them all! You know what's crazy? The movies for sale were the next three movies in line for review in order! Moulin Rouge, Black Hawk Down, and Attack of the Clones! Isn't that cool? That brings my Ewan movie collection to five! I also got the movies Red and Red 2. Red 2 was available this morning and I considered getting it but I like the first one better so I didn't want to only buy the sequel. When I got off work, the first movie was available for sale so I went ahead and got them both! I don't think anything can dull my shine today! I shouldn't have bought so much. I'm sure I'll regret it later. Right now, I'm on cloud nine šš„°š„³
Try to stay calm but THE "MOULIN ROUGE" DVD IS FOR SALE AT MY JOB!!!! I literally said "oh my fucking god" when I saw it. But I can't buy it because I'm on the clock and I still have 4 hours until I clock out š«š« I'm so scared that it's going to get bought in that time! It's brand new, still in the plastic, and only 2 DOLLARS! Oh my god, I want it sooooo bad!
Edit: I just got a chance to actually pick it up and take a look and it's not new in the plastic. Doesn't change anything for me of course. Also, another Ewan movie "Black Hawk Down" is available too! There's a good selection of general movies we have today and I'm tempted to buy an armful lol
Just wanted to say that you're super cool and I hope you're having a good weekend!
Oh wow, thank you so much! You're so kind! I hope life is treating you kindly š«¶
I'm not an artist (I wish) but this seems like great info to spread regardless.
Okay I JUST realized I never posted these on hereā- BUT BASICALLY, about a year and a half ago I started doing these experimental black hairstyle posts that were threads long on Twitter, to give artists a source of inspo for their black ocs whose hair they wanted to try something new with! Thereās more to black hair than just the selected styles portrayed in media, and I thought it would be fun to show people how much texture, shape, fades, length, and style can be combined when drawing black hairā-cause itās a kind of manipulation our hair can do irl! The OG posts were lost with the hacking of my original Twitter account (@/bagels_donuts) but Iāve since reuploaded the whole thread to my new Twitter (@/ItsDonutsFR)! I hope artists on tumblr find these useful, sorry it took me so long to post them hereššš¾ Iāll upload them all in parts!
Part 1: Long masc hairstyles + playing with fades
EDITING NOTE: I didn't realize until a week after I posted this that I grossly miscalculated the Screentime Percentage. I'm sorry for that oversight and the correct SP is now posted in the review.
Our first review is here! š
Being Human is our inaugural Ewan McGregor movie review and stars the late, great, Robin Williams.
Funny enough, if this movie came out ten or even five years later then I would have put it in the "guest appearance" category and not written a review. That's how small Ewan's role was lol. However, I felt that it was only fair to start with this one because....this is Ewan's first ever movie role! That's right, you'd be forgiven for thinking his first movie role was in "Shallow Grave" but his career started far more humbly lol.
Movie Review: Being Human is about a soul, Hector, that we watch be reincarnated into five different lives over the span of centuries. He lives as a caveman, Roman slave, Scotsman, Portuguese man, and finally, a modern family man. Throughout his lives, he experiences hardships and must decide how to handle them, though he doesn't always make the right decision. He also crosses paths with a couple of other people from his past lives. This movie is veryyyy slow. It's two hours of literally watching someone live their life no matter how mundane some moments of life are. However, the movie is also heartfelt and feels strangely nostalgic even though I never watched it growing up. I also really like the concept of the soul reincarnating and getting the chance to redo past mistakes. Watching this movie a second time definitely made me appreciate it more and the beauty that lies in a life simply lived.
Ewan Review: Ewan plays a character named Alvarez who has been shipwrecked with Hector. He has a whopping three, that's right, THREE lines! His character is not integral to the story and if you didn't know he was in the movie then you probably wouldn't even notice him. He looks much older than his actual 22 years as well, especially considering how he looks in his next project "Shallow Grave."
Screentime Percentage (the numbers here have been rounded to the nearest whole number): Ewan is on screen for a grand total of 2/122 minutes making his SP a lowly 2%.
To Ewan or not to Ewan: Is this movie worth watching for Ewan content alone? Absolutely not. Is the movie worth watching? Yes, though the slow pacing is not for everybody.
Conclusion: Being Human is a quiet and contemplative film about life, our place in it, and how our love can span lifetimes. If you're a fan of Robin Williams and you have two hours to spare then I would encourage you to give it a watch. I rented the movie through YouTube which was the only place I could find it online.
P.S. if you do decide to watch the movie and just want to see Ewan, his first appearance is at 1:6:30 and last at 1:19:42. You can also watch one of his speaking lines on YouTube posted by the account Ewan McGregor Vault (where the image below is from).
(Ewan Matchmaker Game)
After much deliberation, the Matchmaker has decided that your perfect boyfriend is Michael! (Perfect Sense)
You like the challenge of a fixer-upper and Michael is just the man for you! He's charming and oh so handsome, but doesn't think that he will fall in love again. Behind his kind smile are dark secrets that he's afraid will make you leave him if you knew. He will be a very gentle and attentive boyfriend to you. He will love to personally cook for you and give you the VIP treatment when you visit his restaurant. Just take things slow and let him know that you're someone he can depend on. Eventually, he will bare his heart to you and your love will be strong enough to withstand anything.
Thanks for playing!
What an interesting choice! Thank you for the game! It's fun!
It is sweet that you almost wrote a ficlet about our relationship! XD
THANK YOU!
Genre: Comedy/Romance
Rating: PG
Director: Douglas McGrath
Starring: Gwyneth Paltrow, Toni Collette
Synopsis: "Emma" is a movie based on the Jane Austen novel of the same name. It boasts a large cast of talented and recognizable actors. Several of them will go on to work with Ewan again in future projects. The movie is about Emma Woodhouse, a young socialite. Although she is an available bachelorette, she enjoys secretly matchmaking couples in her town instead of finding love for herself. She believes greatly in her matchmaking skills, though her pride and naivety cause her to fumble more often than not. When Emma befriends Harriet Smith, a debutante with unknown family heritage, she makes it her mission to find her new friend a fitting husband. Instead, she finds herself more trouble than she knows what to do with.
Ewan Review: Ewan plays the character Frank Churchill. Frank is the stepson of Emma's friend and former governess, Mrs. Weston. He is a charming young man who thrives on being the center of attention. When he arrives in town to visit his father, the townswomen immediately become enamored with the handsome bachelor. Even Emma, who previously thought she was not interested in marriage, can't help being swept off her feet by the gentlemen's advances. Ewan wears a wig in this role I believe because his hair would still be short from filming "Trainspotting." It's not a bad wig but there were some moments where I had to squint and say "yeah, I don't think that's his hair" lol. He uses an English accent for this role and honestly, it doesn't sound very good. He's done English accents before but this one just doesn't sound natural, especially compared to his co-stars. He sings twice in the movie! He performs two duets and the first one always makes me laugh because of how he randomly jumps in. He's also in a dance scene which was really fun. As far as his performance, it's nothing special in my opinion. Again, maybe it's because he was surrounded by a large cast of talented actors, but he didn't seem to shine like he normally does. Or maybe he was tired from filming four movies back to back and the fatigue had begun to set in. Luckily, since his character is a minor one, it doesn't really matter and I still had a good time watching him.
Screentime Percentage: Ewan is on screen for a grand total of 13/121 minutes making his SP 11%.
To Ewan or not to Ewan: Is the movie worth watching for Ewan content alone? My opinion is no. He's a fun perk that you get with the movie but I wouldn't turn it on just to see him. Is the movie worth watching in general? Yes! It's fun. It's cute. It has a happy ending for everyone. It even won two Oscars for best movie score and costume design. It's a calm, low stimulating movie that's still entertaining.
Where to Watch: "Emma" is currently available for rent on YouTube and can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video if you have a subscription.
Conclusion: If you like period pieces then I think you'd like "Emma". It's a beautiful movie and a nice change of pace from the overstimulating movies of today.

Idk I think this would make you laugh
thank you for thinking of me and sharing this :)
So, today marks exactly three months until Halloween! I have an idea that I want to share with y'all and need help fleshing it out. What if we had a Ewan Halloween celebration? Halloween falls on a Thursday this year and there will be five Thursdays in October. I'm thinking about hosting an online movie night each Thursday leading up to Halloween where we watch a scary Ewan movie! We can call it Ewanween, or HallowEwan, or just Halloween: Ewan Edition (I clearly need help with a name š ). I can set up a discord for us to watch together at a chosen time. Maybe on Halloween day we can do a double feature or something! I'm open to ideas! I was also thinking of maybe incorporating spooky/scary fanart and fanfic. For example, if for the 2nd Thursday we watch Shallow Grave then on that day we can share our creations that have to do with the movie/characters. What do you think? I've never done something like that before so it might be outside my abilities to put that together. Plus, I know there are other, more established, fan events that happen throughout October. It's just a thought! Now, as for the movies, we need five. I made a list of seven Ewan movies that I felt fit the Halloween vibe. If this idea garners interest, then I'll make a poll for us to narrow down the choices. Please let me know your thoughts and share with anyone you think will be interested!
I feel like I'm dying. I feel like I'm floating. I'm not really here. I'm so tired. I can't sleep. I want a hug. I want to disappear. I want to cry. I want to bleed. I really don't want to go to work. I'm scared to not to. I'm so fucking tired. I'm so fucking worthless. I don't know what to hold on to. There's nothing. A hug could save me right now. One tender touch could make all the difference. I need...something.
I received the news of the election from my friend. She texted me a somber message. So somber and random was it that I initially thought that she was in danger. I quickly realized why she would be sending me a message like that: we lost. There was a brief window of time between when I turned in my ballot yesterday and I read that message today where I was happy. I felt hopeful for the future. I was excited. We weren't going back. That happiness shattered in the blink of an eye.
On this day, November 6, 2024, hatred held in people's hearts for their fellow man conquered the love people have for their families, their communities, and those most vulnerable. Fear at the loss of the status quo for those in power defeated hope for a better future. Greed overpowered equality.
The people have spoken: Hate is bigger than anything in it's way.
