Stop Saying Someone "has Privilege Over" Someone Else.

stop saying someone "has privilege over" someone else.

what you mean is "has power over".

a white person has white privilege. they cannot "have white privilege over" someone else. they can have power over someone else. those are not the same thing.

Learned today that the Plagiarism Machine (AKA Ch*tGPT) often incorporates em dashes into the drivel "writing" it produces, to the point people now flag em dash usage as an indicator a given bit of writing was produced by the Plagiarism Machine.

(It uses em dashes, one should note, because it was trained on material written by people who use them, AKA creative writers. See again: Plagiarism Machine.)

This is deeply distressing to me as a writer who has never-not-once used the Plagiarism Machine, because I LOVE EM DASHES SO FUCKING MUCH. I use them constantly. But since I would be MORTIFIED if someone thought I was using plagiarism software to produce my work, I caught myself momentarily contemplating striking them from my writing toolbox (or at least using them less frequently).

But here's the thing: I refuse to let a soulless, capitalist hellscape device chase me away from something I enjoy, let alone dictate the writing style I've developed over the course of two decades.

To make myself feel better about continuing on as normal—no matter what the fuck the Plagiarism Machine may say about it—I decided to do some research. The Plagiarism Machine was released in 2022. My most notable online work is Lucky Child, which began serialization in 2017. Even earlier samples of my work feature frequent em dash usage. Thus, my em dash usage predates the Plagiarism Machine by a not inconsiderable margin. For proof (and to comfort myself that no one could ever try and claim my em dash usage is indicative of the Plagiarism Machine's influence) I decided to look at the first chapter of Lucky Child, and—

My name is Yukimura Keiko—but that has not always been my name.

I literally use one in the opening line.

I use a total of 9 in the first chapter alone.

The Plagiarism Machine owes every creative writer on the internet both a thank-you for the lesson in em dash usage AND an apology for absorbing that lesson without our consent.

This is the autism website but you must be aware of the unspoken things and the subtle things and everything a normal adult would know and if you say you aren't you are making excuses. This is the autism website but if you bring up autism in any situation where it's not the primary topic you're derailing and making up problems. This is the autism website but we don't talk about autism outside the memes. We do not miss social cues we just ignore them. But this is the autism website.

One of the main problems around people with personality disorders (particularly cluster B), psychotic disorders, OSDD/DID/other CDDs or other stigmatised mental conditions is, well... Everything we do gets put back onto our disorder. Every fault, every misstep, every mistake is used as proof to say that the stigma of us all being horrible people is right.

We can say "not everyone with x disorder harms people, and in fact we're more likely to BE harmed and abused than we are to hurt others" as much as we like--and of course, that's a true statement. But the moment someone with a stigmatised mental illness does something wrong, it's "of course you'd do xyz, you're a narcissist" or "checks out with the psychosis".

Someone with ASPD could cut someone off for any valid reason, but anyone else could spin it into "yeah, that's sociopaths for you". Someone with psychosis could wrongfully accuse someone of something and without being given a chance to apologise, suddenly it's "this is why we don't trust delusional people like you" and you're discredited from here on out. Someone with DID could genuinely forget that their alter had an argument with someone and be trying to sort it out, but no one wants to hear that something was forgotten in the amnesia, so and all they get is "see, people with DID just blame everything on their alters".

People with stigmatised disorders are just like anyone else. They're not evil or uniquely capable of harm, but that also means they're not incapable of making mistakes. Everyone is entitled to their own limits but I think people need to be more aware that disabled people can make genuine mistakes and one slip up or argument doesn't mean that pwNPD is secretly manipulating you. Sometimes people are manipulative and you need to be able to tell the difference--just like neurotypicals, disabled people can be abusive. But blaming mistakes or even genuine malice on someone's disorder does nothing but harm a marginalised group of people. If you wouldn't say "of course you would, you're neurotypical" to someone abusing someone else or if that wouldn't make sense to you, why would you do it to disabled people?

Having a traumatic childhood means you cannot talk even objectively about your basic foundational experiences without it being "venting", even if you're not actually venting. You just straight up have a huge chunk of your life you can't talk about, full stop, without it being trauma dumping.

And it not being socially acceptable to talk about your own childhood is super alienating. Sometimes people want to know why, and any answer you can give them is going to be off putting.

It's to the point I get irritated when something I said is framed as venting when I'm literally just talking about my life experiences, doing my best to keep emotion out of it.

An introduction by yours truly, Ash

Attempt 3000 of having a Tumblr I like.

I'm Ash, I am 20 year old. Disabled and queer. Chronically online and ill.

🎶🎵 I''ve got the best of both words 🎵🎶

Auto-diag is valid by the way, there's enough information to auto-diagonise yourself with some stuff, and you are the only expert on your life. Ask for help if you need it though

Some people need to chill.

I have two side blogs : @lonebabyone (agere), @onesburyinghole (vent)

DMs open and asks too, for anything.

This blog is primarily to have a space to express myself on subjects i like. More details under the cut.

I enjoy most humanitarians subjects, like psychology, sociology, history, philosophy, politics (because for anarchy i need to know about it urgh). I'm anticapitalist, i do enjoy some stuff produced by it tho (i mean look in which platform i am), antigovernment (authorities and stuff ew). I am for communities and for helping thy neighnoor, at least i'm trying. I'm just a human trying to live in this world and help others when i can. I'm also chronically online and ill so take that as you will.

I will tell you one time if i see you don't respect my boundaries, you will be blocked.

Anyways, I also love some stuff and here some of them if you want to know:

Witch Hat Atelier

Epic the musical

I don't want to be a magical girl

Here are three things we see as common sense:

Our abuser has NPD and yet we do NOT believe in narc-abuse/ cluster-b abuse

We did not form due to RAMCOA/ SA and yet we do show our support to them in any way we can and want to educate people

We support all minoritys "even tho" we arent part of them and that includes: looking into their problems and how society/ the system treats them, listening to them, supporting them, defending them in allday situations "even tho they arent in the room"

We are talking about: woman, POCs, indiginous people, physically disabled people, higher support need autistics, woman and girls, every person with a mental illness, survivors of RAMCOA, survivor of the troubled teen industry, woman in other countrys, people who get hate for their religion, "illegal" immigrants and more.

Please do your research and notice the problem, if we forget or ignore then we are part of the problem, especially in those times.
