This is so true.
I just did some stretches ahahah
My body: "I'm in pain."
Me: "Maybe we should exercise?"
*exercises*
My body: "Now I'm in a different kind of pain."
i have been seeing so much discourse online about "technically who gets to count as disabled" and how chronic illnesses are "not actually disabilities", as if anyone with a chronic condition is inherently less deserving of equal access. i am like 85% sure i have pots and i can't even go a flight up the stairs without feeling like death or stand for ten minutes. any "normal" activity makes me crash twice as hard.
if that isn't "disabling".... then what is?
and my point here isn't to argue about what "counts" as a disability. like can we all just agree on the fact that two people with even the same condition can have drastically different experiences? stop trying to make a spectrum into a binary.
it doesn't matter how "disabled" you are, EVERYBODY WITH VARYING DEGREES OF DISABILITY deserves EQUAL access to treatment and accommodations. we don't need to police each other, we need UNIVERSAL ACCESS.
You know what the worst part of having a dissociative disorder is, for me personally?
The emotional amnesia.
Your entire life feels like something that you watched on TV, rather than something that you actually lived through.
You know that some of the most horrific things imaginable have happened to you, and you feel nothing about it. Sure, the memories disgust you on principle, but you don’t feel anything.
It makes you question if anything that you remember is real. If that actually happened, shouldn’t it feel significant? Shouldn’t you be sad, angry, hurt, something?
And to top it all off, nobody understands. Not even yourself.
when disabled people talk about fakeclaiming, i think most people on here think we’re talking about rude anons, or some stranger on the bus saying you don’t really need that cane. But we’re also talking about like. The social security administration. Doctors who are in charge of treating us; who deny care because they think we’re faking. Family members who withdraw material support because we aren’t improving when they think we should, and refuse to look for alternative caregivers. And this kills people. Disabled people die without benefits that would keep us housed and fed, without necessary medical treatments, without our care support systems. Fakeclaiming isn’t just rude. It’s deadly
This people, need to hear this more often. Like thank you very much you know i have autism so you're treating me kindly. But why do you have to be a prick to that other girl who does the same sh*t i do but without the label.
The label only exists because I want it to mean something. If i didn't tell you i was autistic, would you have just been a prick too to then?
Why this double standard? Like if i don't like something someone did, it's not because of that that I'm a prick to them. Yes i will dislike what the person fid and maybe even tell them but that doesn't give me the right to disrespect them. Like they're still a f*cking human being.
Being accepting of autistic people includes being accepting of "weird" or "annoying" people who you don't know are autistic, BTW. We don't just spawn into existence with a list of diagnoses tattooed on our foreheads. If you claim to be accommodating of autistic people, but then get pissed off when someone shows a symptom of autism because your default assumption is that they're just an allistic person who's annoying you for no reason, then you aren't actually all that accommodating of autistic people.
what they don't tell you about making friends is you gotta be a lil annoying. you gotta push past the fear of "what if they don't want to talk to me" and simply ask someone how their day is going, send a meme. you cannot connect to people if you're both just awkwardly waiting for the other to start.
a girl whose love language is physical touch is also a girl who hates people touching her

I just know Maddie, is just dying for them to get together already. That poor woman clocked it instantly.
