Not falling into a seasonal depression is so much fucking WORK
Like, I have to have reminders on my phones for the few hours a day the sun is out, so I can make sure I actually go see it. Then I also have to be VERY strict about my sleep schedule, cause if I fuck that up I'll suddenly sleep through the sun hours. And I have to make sure I get enough sleep (for me 10-11 hours a night, I know, a lot, but I'm disabled) but I also need to make sure I don't sleep too much cause then I won't be able to see the sun or sleep the following night.
I also have to be super rigid about taking my meds and vitamin d, cause you know damn well we don't get anywhere near enough vitamin d from the sun in norway.
And on top of all that I have to go to work, make dinner, clean the house, make sure my cat's needs are met AND try to have a social life.
Not to mention I can't use my moped during the winter seasons, so I have to take the bus everywhere (I'm gay, I can't drive, shut up) which takes fucking FOREVERRRR
And don'teven get me STARTED on the clothes situation. I'm always too hot, practical in winter, right? WRONG. I have a cold allergy, so if any part of my body (especially areas with a fat reserve) gets too cold, it starts itching and swells a LOT. On my face that's easily remedied, I just make sure to wear a face covering, one extra layer is enough. Upper body is also easy, I have a thick coat. But, my thighs???? My main problem area??? I cannot deal with wearing an extra layer under my pants, because 1. It gets way too hot the second I walk into my workplace. And 2. It feels fucking AWFUL
Anyways, I love my country and am never leaving
Part one of a spn portrait series I’m working on
Living in a country with universal healthcare, but where a fair amount of people have the money to go privately instead is at times slightly comical.
The public hospitals here will quite often hire private hospitals and clinics to do their cases if the wait lists are particularily long. This means that if you have a referral from your doctor, you might end up going to a private clinic and get a procedure done for free.
I have an ingrown toenail that's been bothering me for the past 1.5 years, so I went to my doctor. Who have me a referral to have minor surgery to fix it. Where did I get my appointment? A super fancy private hospital that specializes in cosmetic surgery. I looked at their webpage to see what an ingrown nail surgery costs, its over 500$ and I'm willing to bet thats 500$ pr toe, and I need both fixed. I do not in any way shape or form have 1000$ to spend on having my toes fixed. That's nearly how much I make in a MONTH. So I'm going to just stroll into this hospital, have my nails fixed, and then leave, not having to pay their insane prices
I'm also kinda wondering who has the kind of money where they can just dish out 500$ for a treatment they can get for free if they are just willing to wait ~3 months
I know I know - cliffhanger, right? I kinda suck, but part 2 will be out in a couple of hours, fear not!
Thanks to the amazing @ozonecologne for giving me permission to draw her wonderful ficlet, which made me cry twice. With like, a handful of words. Go send her some love!
You can read the wonderful thing here (x).
Also please click on the images if you wanna see them at a decent resolution. Either me or tumblr messed it up xD (also if someone has a tip on how to fix it, pls share!)
EDIT: at first it was two parts, now everything is here cause it looks prettier.
I'm somehow managing a secret third thing, where my brain just cuts out the second a name is mentioned. So I dont know how the name is spelled NOR can I pronounce it even CLOSE to correctly
Here’s my take on the whole audio books vs. reading:
Oral tradition of storytelling predates written ones by millennias, and honestly, which one you like is just a personal preference.
The actual difference is
when listening, you have no idea how to write characters’ names
when reading, you have no idea how to pronounce characters’ names
hope this helps!
Anyone who is all prissy about Annabeth's actor not being white should also be at LEAST as angry about Clarisse not being plus size.
Personally I love Leah as Annabeth, the first time I saw her on screen I just went "oh, there she is." My ONLY comment about her is that she seems to be shorter than Walker (Percy) but when working with young actors their heights change fast as fuck so I get it. That fact also changes throughout the books so it isn't really that important.
All in all I think the casting is great, but I have noticed one thing I don't really see anyone talking about.
Where are all the plus size characters? In the books Gabe, Dionysus and Clarisse are all described as plus size.
I can understand Gabe, cause le'ts be honest here, the only reason he is described as fat is so that we'll think he's lazy and ugly. But for Clarisse especially I feel like it removes an important part of her character
I always saw myself in Clarisse. Here's a girl who isn't conventionally attractive, knows it, but doesn't let it bother her. She also ends up with a girlfriend from the Aphrodite cabin, who is described as very beautiful (unless I remember wrongly). And their relationship just shows that two people can be in a relationship, even though they are vastly different "numbers" on the "conventional attractiveness scale" Clarisse IS a bully in the books, but she does have quite a lot of developement, so even though her size in the beginning is used to show her as being scary, I feel like she, throughout the books, moves away from that. (This is in no way any hate to the actress, I do think she plays the character really well, but she is extremely conventionally attractive)
As for mr. D, to be fair, his size isn't really all that relevant to the character, and there is (according to the wiki) a possibility that his camp half-blood form is not his REAL form.
But the fact all three of these characters are no longer plus size in the TV-show is something that bothers me, especially Clarisse.
Would love to hear other people's opinions on this!
(Direct book descriptions:
Gabe: "Gabe had put on weight. He looked like a tuskless walrus in thrift-store clothes."
Mr. D: "The man facing me was small, but porky. ... He looked like those paintings of baby angels"
Clarisse: "She wore a size XXXL Camp Half-Blood tshirt" also described several times just as "the big girl")
Finally kinda figured out how to draw someone kissing
hi there! do you allow reposts of your art?
Thank you for asking! As long as you dont crop out my watermark, and tag me it's fine. But I'd prefer you didn't repost to any other platforms than the ones I am on (so the tag can lead directly to my acc)
Quick drawing of cas with a bee! Thought it was time for something cutesy after yesterday’s post
