i think another big thing that makes Trollhunters’ ending have such an impact…. is that they weren’t afraid to show the naked hate in Jim. he hates Gunmar. Gunmar is essentially the biggest reason his life is like it is. Jim is barely over sixteen and he’s been at war for months now, against this troll and his army, who’s efforts to conquer the earth have driven fate to choose Jim of all people to stop the apocalypse. some normal kid that never asked for any of this, but took the mantle when called upon anyways.

and he’s paid dearly for it every step of the way.

Jim’s life has been completely ruined by Morgana through Gunmar, and by this point he’s embracing the anger and hatred that inspires in him. his act of killing Gunmar isn’t just the hero’s duty, but a vindictive revenge for every ounce of pain and trauma that troll inflicted on him, and for every other life Gunmar ruined alongside Jim’s.

i honestly have a difficult time recalling any shows geared towards younger/general audiences that have given us visible and canon evidence of feelings like that. what a phenomenal performance on the animators and writers’ part.

I’m honestly so grateful for the creditless Stammi Vicino duet from vol 6 and the official bonus manga because they confirm what I thought before but wasn’t certain of because of the credits which got in the way and because we only got to see like half of Yuuri’s exhibition.

And what I’m talking about here is that Victor and Yuuri switch roles throughout their ice dance.

And yes, I mean female and male roles.

We see that Yuuri starts off in the female role as he is the one being lifted

as well as supported by Victor in moves such as this one:

But as they enter the second half of their performance together, the balance suddenly shifts and

Victor becomes the female partner in their ice dance, now being supported by Yuuri.

And, accordingly, we soon see this:

I wish I knew a professional name for this move, but the point is that when Victor leans to the side, it is Yuuri that supports him through holding his arm and balancing him out. I’ve seen this performed in ice dancing footage I found on YouTube and indeed, Victor would be the woman here, while Yuuri would be the man.

Right before the sequence transitions to Yuuri running in St. Petersburg, we manage to see this:

You’ll notice that Yuuri is leading Victor and pulling him into that spin. Although they both spin, Victor is doing the feminine spin while Yuuri does the masculine spin. The best way that I can explain this is that the one being led holds the feminine role and the one doing the leading holds the masculine role, like in most dances.

All of this we’ve seen in the anime (although somewhat obscured by the credits) and it was enough for me to determine that they do indeed switch roles and it was a very conscious choice on the creators’ side. But one thing that I kept wondering about was: Why does Yuuri not lift Victor? Surely, if he can pole dance while holding Chris with only one arm, lifting Victor should not be an issue? I justified it to myself with the fact that Yuuri is shorter, so lifting Victor on the ice would be considerably more difficult for him than vice versa.

And then the official manga came and swept me right off my feet.

Because Yuuri was clearly lifting Victor.

And when I saw this, I thought: “Wait, why didn’t we see this in the anime?”

And then it hit me - this is the second half of the performance.

And suddenly everything falls into place.

Because Victor has less stamina than Yuuri, when Victor and Yuuri were choreographing the program, they placed the parts where Victor lifts Yuuri as early as possible. And because Victor wouldn’t be able to lift Yuuri in the second half, that’s when Yuuri’s chance to do a lift or two appears. Yuuri has more stamina, so lifting Victor by the end of the program when Victor would be more tired is not an issue for him, and makes perfect sense.

And I just love this so much because it may be such a small detail but it’s so consistent with what we know about the characters and I’m just??? Amazed? Because I don’t think I’ve ever seen such consistency and wholesomeness in anything in recent memory.

But even apart from that, this single panel proves that Victor and Yuuri truly are equal in their ice dance, and by extension in their relationship as a whole.

Which is awesome because it’s further confirmation that Victor and Yuuri and pretty much all of yoi itself is a huge middle finger to gender roles and heteronormative stereotypes (not to mention the real life ice dance/pair skate ISU rules), and I love it and will never stop praising it.

Sense8 is everything I’ve ever wanted in art form. No TV show, no movie, no song, no picture could ever make me feel the way Sense8 made me feel. It was the first place I truly saw myself. It was the first place I saw where I could actually belong. It’s everything I love and want in life. It transcended trivial social constraints and barriers and showed us what raw, unfiltered love and human connection looks like. We spend so much time thinking about what we should be, how we should act, how we must project ourselves to the world that we forget to just be who we are and to love how we want to love. There is absolutely no reason a husband and wife can not take on a male lover or that two gay men can not form a mental and emotional bond with a woman that can be nonsexual or sexual in some instances. Sexuality is fluid, human beings are fluid. We are never just ONE THING. I will carry the lessons Sense 8 has taught me through life, and I hope one day, I can look up and realize that I have finally found my cluster.

Apparently Nickelodeon wants to build an attraction in Palawan, Philippines . 

This might seem fun for some people, but for us it’s not. 

You see, Palawan is known for its non-commercialized islands and untouched beaches. There are only a few resorts in there, and the government limits tourism population there. Here are some pictures of our beautiful islands:

Nickelodeon, however, wants to capitalize the island of Coron, Palawan. They’re going to build a resort and theme park there. They claim that they want to “spread environmental awareness” but they’re really not. Building this resort will disrupt the marine ecosystem; thus destroying the environment there. Also, Palawan is our last ecological frontier in the Philippines. If they’re going to continue to do this, more and more big companies will cash-in to commercialize Palawan- and I really do not want that to happen.

I know petitions won’t do much, but at least we can prove a point that Palawan should not be disrupted. Please sign this petition, so that it will not only show that us Filipinxs don’t want this, but people from different countries as well. Please spread it around as well, so that people from different countries can be aware of what Nickelodeon is doing.

Some things I want to say before Pride Month starts

The white stripe in the trans flag represents trans people who aren’t in the binary! This means non-binary, genderfluid, genderqueer, demigirls/boys/ ect.!

Aces and aros belong in LGBTQ+ even if they are cis or het!

If you don’t respect ALL pronouns ALL THE TIME you are an asshole. Pronouns aren’t something you can decide not to use. EVERYONE DESERVES TO HAVE THEIR PRONOUNS RESPECTED!

Give representation to LGBTQ+ people of colour! Respect them!

Give representation to LGBTQ+ people who aren’t skinny! Respect them!

Give representation to neurodivergent and disabled LGBTQ+ people! Respect them!

Being pansexual isn’t biphobic and vice vesa!

If you gripe about not liking individual Pride flags such as Black Pride, Brown Pride, ect. keep your mouth shut and GO AWAY! We don’t care about what you think is pretty or fair or not. 

The rainbow flag isn’t just for gay men! It’s an umbrella flag for everyone!

Respect ALL identities. Don’t accuse people of “making stuff up”. If you have a problem keep your trap shut.
