FIRE: - Light a white candle near by - Meditate while gazing into a bonfire. Let the heat warm you and fill you with happiness - Burn a cleansing bundle (sage, juniper, lavender…) - Dance around a bonfire; go wild and release your negativity through song and dance - Take something that represents negativity in your life and burn it (be safe.) - Light a couple more white candles - Light a scented candle - Light some herbs on fire - Please don’t light yourself on fire

SOLAR ECLIPSE 2017

The Solar Eclipse was one of my favorite events this year and I wanted to draw my Sun and Moon together to celebrate the occasion. The first two pieces were finished shortly after the eclipse, but then I got the idea to add more outfits and only now was able to finish them. Very happy with how they came out and I got more confident with each piece.

Sunny and Nighty are happy that humans enjoy their Eclipse! Hope you look forward to the next 💖

Some Crystal Misconceptions

Diamonds Aren’t Rare

actually true, they aren’t

BUT

gem-quality diamonds are rare. There are three main factors that contribute to rarity

SIZE - big diamonds are way more rare than little tiny ones

COLOR - colorless diamonds are more rare than brown diamonds, and fancy-colored diamonds are more rare than colorless diamonds

CLARITY - diamonds that aren’t full of crap are more rare than diamonds with lots of crap

Fake Citrine/Burnt Amethyst

no

yellow/orange quartz = citrine, whether it’s natural or treated

it isn’t fake

citrine is often heated amethyst whether it comes from nature or a lab anyway

there are some citrines that were never amethyst, but many were

Copal Is Fake Amber

copal is young amber

amber is OLD, guys

1,000,000+ years old

they will both float in saturated saltwater.

amber is more resistant to chemicals because it’s gone through polymerization over time

don’t drop your amber/copal in solvents because chances are it’s copal

Don’t Clean Crystals With Soap

soap is good

most common crystals can be cleaned with soap

use gentle soap though, none of that orange gritty stuff that everyone’s dad had at one point

rinse off the soap when you’re done

check if your crystal is water soluble before cleaning though

and be careful with unusual and delicate specimens

Heating And Irradiation Are Bad

heating and irradiation enhance the color of your crystals

almost every sapphire and ruby in the lower to mid-range market has been heated

most other stones too

it doesn’t hurt the stone. I promise

it just makes them prettier

the earth does it to her crystals too

Treated Stones Are Fake

nope

treated stones are usually still whatever they were before they were treated

unless it’s a variety call based on color or something but y’know

heated topaz = topaz

aura quartzes are extra pretty because of their treatment

it’s cool if you don’t want to use treated stones but many people like them

treated stones are beautiful and not fake

but make sure the treatment is DISCLOSED unless it’s routine (and therefore assumed)

Blood Diamonds

it was a problem

but not anymore!!!!

there’s a fun international thing called the Kimberley Process (2003)

diamonds can’t be exported from their origin country without a clear paper trail back to the mine

diamonds are probably the most ethical gemstone purchase you can make today actually

there’s no equivalent process for colored stones

blood emeralds, anyone??

Garnet Is Corundum

Corundum has THREE MAIN VARIETIES

just THREE

ruby (red), padparadscha (orange-pink), and sapphire (every other color)

these have subvarieties (star ruby, yellow sapphire, etc etc etc)

emerald and garnet are not corundum

(garnet is a mineral group!!!! it’s not even a species, much less a variety)

not everything is corundum

But guess what? There’s something you didn’t know about the vote.

Get this: the vote was basically illegal.

You heard me right. Eric Schneiderman, American lawyer, said in Twitter: “I will sue to stop the FCC’s illegal rollback of #netneutrality. New Yorkers and all Americans deserve a free and open internet.”

Not only do we have another ally, but now we know that the vote wasn’t supposed to happen.

We’ve got this. Now the REAL FIGHT starts now.

The Silent Twins

Born in 1963, twins June and Jennifer Gibbons became known as ‘The Silent Twins’ as they refused to speak to anyone but each other. The twins created their own secret language through which they communicated.

In an attempt to get them to socialise with others, the twins were kept apart at school. Later, at age fourteen, they were sent to therapists, and separate boarding schools. These attempts, however, backfired, as the girls became even more withdrawn from society.

After their reunion, the twins spent the next few years shut away in their room where they performed plays for one another, wrote in their diaries, and inflicted harm on each other. Their diaries would later reveal an extremely dark side to their bond. They both loved, and hated each other.

One excerpt from June’s diary reads, “Nobody suffers the way I do, not with a sister; with a husband, yes; with a wife, yes; with a child, yes, but this sister of mine, a dark shadow robbing me of sunlight, is my one and only torment.”

Jennifer, born ten minutes later than June, saw her sister as better than her and grew extremely jealous. Sensing this envy, June wrote in her diary, “She wants us to be equal. There is a murderous gleam in her eye. Dear lord, I am scared of her. She is not normal … someone is driving her insane. It is me.”

After awhile the twins began committing crimes like petty theft and arson. It was this criminal mischief, combined with their severe social disorders that landed them in Broadmoor Hospital, a high-security mental facility.

The doctors at Broadmoor found the twins to be deeply disturbed and even dangerous. During a relocation to another facility, Jennifer, the younger twin, placed her head on her sibling’s shoulder, took her last breath, and said, “At long last, we’re out.” Doctors rushed her to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead. The cause of death was determined to be a sudden, lethal inflammation of the heart. However, during an autopsy, doctors did not find any drug or poison in her body and her death still remains a mystery.

June, the surviving twin later revealed that they had made a pact at Broadmoor: One of them had to die, so the other could live a normal life.
