Rainbow Axolotls (2023)
Acrylic paints on 11" x 14" wood panel. The one on the top is an example of the "wild-type" coloration, and the bottom one is supposed to be the albino coloration (obviously with a rainbow overtop!)
The axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum) is a fully aquatic salamander closely related to the tiger salamander. They are critically endangered in the wild, with most of the population existing in captivity. The axolotl is native only to the freshwater of Lake Xochimilco in Mexico. They are popular in the pet trade and also for use as laboratory animals. They are an excellent example of neotony, where the animal reaches adulthood while retaining juvenile characteristics. In the case of the Axolotl, they retain their gills, which most salamander species lose upon becoming adults.

Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.

Another snow run #pascalcampion
This song is such a gem. It's from the movie Into The Wild, which Eddie Vedder wrote all the music for. If you love nature or the outdoors, this song is for you. It has such a beautiful message, and how the greatest love some people may have is just the world around us. Also, the idea of just disconnecting from society to fall in love with the thing many people forget about. And the instruments in this song are just so pretty and well done, it’s like they’re lyrics as well. enjoy
