some very important info re: paid accounts~

I am not a lawyer, but I can decently interpret legalese and, being as I also suffer from tl;dr syndrome and assume others may as well, I took one for the team and went through the updated TOS for the post+ accounts and highlighted (what I understand to be) the most pertinent information, which ultimately comes down to this:

You cannot monetize copyrighted works (aka charge and earn money from fanfic, fanworks, etc) and if you do decide to put your fanworks behind a paywall via Tumblr, when you are inevitably sued, Tumblr will not protect you and will not defend you and you alone, personally, will be responsible for whatever monetary damages said lawsuit results in.

If anyone is a lawyer and knows I've gotten any of this wrong, please do not hesitate to correct me/this post.

1. Your paid account will not be hosted by tumblr; it is routed through a 3rd party.

2. By signing up for a paid account, you're entering into an agreement with Stripe, so in addition to Tumblr's TOS, you are also bound to Stripe's TOS.

3. Stripe, like Tumblr, will not defend you or protect you against any lawsuits.

4. Furthermore, you may end up owing Stripe money (indemnify = compensate)

5. Tumblr's TOS specifically states that you can't put any content on your post+ account that violates any laws, including laws that protect intellectual property rights of others. This is super important, because Tumblr's post+ FAQ also states that you can post anything that you would regularly post on tumblr, which I'm sure many will take to mean that gifsets, fanworks, etc are fair game, since all of that stuff can be posted on tumblr now. However, the difference is, you're not making money from the fanworks you're posting or reblogging now. Once money enters the equation, the game changes.

Tumblr is making it seem like any and all content goes for post+ accounts, knowing 90% of this site is fanworks. This is not true and you'll be opening yourself up for lawsuits if you charge for fanworks.

6. Tumblr further disclaims any and all liability in any legal issues.

tl;dr: Please do not make a post+ account, bc you will be opening yourself to lawsuits and if that happens, Tumblr's response will be not our problem, you agreed to all the terms which said you couldn't do that, sorry not sorry. Please protect yourself.

What fandoms have you written for (but do not currently)? I used to write for a lot of different animes and video games. I wrote for Hetalia (I know ew), Black Butler, the Fire Emblem series, Persona, Fruits Basket, Soul Eater, Ouran Highschool Hostclub, etc. And... yes, I was in the dreaded Superwholock and Homestuck fandoms.

What fandoms are you currently writing for? K-Pop, obviously, but on my other blog I'm writing for DC/Marvel comics as well!

How long have you been writing? Good lord, since like 2012 so like... fucking hell, I've bEEN ON THIS DAMN SITE FOR NINE YEARS?!!!!!!

On which platforms do you post your stories? I'm active on here (Tumblr) and Ao3, but I also post my stories on Wattpad to deter plagiarizers there.

What is your favorite genre to write? I'm a slut for angst, but I often find myself writing some fun fics with a dash of it. But, when I do get angsty, I go hard.

Are you a pantser or a planner? Definitely a planner, but I allow myself to be flexible in my stories too. My plans are just fundamentals that I build upon.

One-shot or multi-chapter? I usually write multi-chapters, but my one-shot fics are when I really take my time to develop characters in, literally, one go. I enjoy writing both though@

What is the perfect chapter length in your opinion? Eh, mayb around 4K-6K id my average.

What is your longest published story? Zemblanity in terms of overall length but Infatuation if all goes as planned (and considering the endings are super long). My longest one shot is Covalence at around 20K.

Which story did you enjoy working on the most? Zemblanity hands down. It's my favorite series of all time and most of my readers were very active when sending in asks and giving feedback! It's still getting a lot of traffic on Ao3 as well!

Favorite request you’ve written and why? Ooooh, I reblogged it recently, actually. It's a CandShopWorker!Baekhyun x Single!Parent!Reader. I just enjoyed toying with the idea, you know?

Are there reoccurring themes in your stories? I tend to go a little too hard on the science themes...

Current number of wips? Seventeen total!

Three things you have noticed about your writing? My bitchass tends to repeat a lot of phrases (I'm so sorry), I either rely too much on dialogue or too much on description, and I have a habit of forgetting general timelines (hence why I try to keep my outlines detailed and next to me while I write)

A quote you like from a published story? Hmm... there are two. The first is from Zemblanity "But in it was enough love for a lifetime" and the second is from A Tricky Game of Fate (and I'll probably stick it in Fate's Gamble too) "'in this life and in the ones to come, I hope it is always you and me,' your voice was quiet, but it rang volumes in his heart."

As an Asexual - I’m reposting this to not only spread awareness about it, but also as my positive affirmation for myself that I’m not broken and it’s okay to feel this way

I just read this super sad post about this girl who’s asexual and married and everyone is basically telling her that she doesn’t deserve her husband/she’s just a prude/she should just do it anyway. So I want to tell you all right now that if people tell you this, or if they tell you you’ll never have a relationship, it is BULLSHIT. My husband is asexual and I’m not. He’s sex repulsed, we don’t have sex, we never have. And it doesn’t matter to me. You know what does? He does. His mental health and wellbeing matter to me. Because he is my best friend and he’s one of the smartest, kindest, funniest people I’ve ever met. And he’s had people tel him that he’s broken and it makes me SO ANGRY because they are WRONG. Being different doesnt mean you’re broken. If you don’t like sex/don’t want it/etc. Do not let anyone tell you that you’re inferior because you’re not. Do not let anyone convice you that you’ll never have a relationship because they’re wrong(if you want one). You are not broken, and it will be okay.
