Question for Spanish speaking F1blr-- non Spanish speakers (such as myself) are def missing out on the nuanced differences in accents and dialects between Spanish speaking drivers. What do you pick up from the way Spanish speakers like Fernando, Carlos, Checo, and Franco talk? (Ex. Fernando is from a working class background, while Carlos is upper class and seemingly old money-- does that come through in the way they speak? Do Franco and Checo have regional accents from within their home countries, and have they changed their Spanish to sound more European after living abroad? Do any of them use fun country specific slang?)
Anyway, hoping this turns into the sequel of the British accent post because I love hearing about sociolinguistics. Though this may be more difficult since obviously the Hispanic world is a lot bigger than the UK.

actually I will elaborate on why didier and gilles are such a tragedy: when you think about it, they're the only iconic duo in which both are dead.
Jackie Stewart lost François Cevert and retired immediately after that, devastated by the pain of his loss, but he's still alive even if he was born in 1939!
Nigel Mansell lost Elio de Angelis and dedicated his next victory to him, he's still alive and still remembers him dearly.
Ayrton is dead, but Alain is still there.
But Didier, Didier is not here. He is not walking around paddocks with a cane, old and grey-haired, remembering Gilles at official events. In virtue of him being still alive the weight of the guilt on his shoulders would have settled off, and maybe not many people would still call him a traitor to his face. He would deserve the same pride, the same spark in his eyes Alain has when talking about his unique relationship with Ayrton, but talking about Gilles instead. About how their souls were made of the same material, how deep their friendship was and how sad it was they never had time to talk. But he would have his unique memories, and his sons, and his name would be cleared.
But he's not there. His name is still dragged in mud to this day.
Be grateful that your favourite drivers (retired or not) are still alive, that they can talk, they can spend time together. Because Didier and Gilles cannot do that anymore.
hmmm interesting never had a tumblr brfore this, let's see how this goes. my new private not so private diary

In the whole ‘dude’ conversation I think we should talk about why male terms are considered neutral but the same cannot be said for those that are considered female. No one would argue that ‘dudette’ is a neutral term the way the do ‘dude’. Instead of arguing about how much ‘dude’ is just an everyone word for you, why not actively try to use more ‘feminine’ terms in your language instead of what you consider gender neutral and then masculine.
for sure, it is really Interesting how masculine language can become neutral but once a word becomes feminized it's done for any other use cases. it just further enforces men as default human beings and women as an aberration from that. look at the word girl! girl (or rather its predecessors) meant any young child from like 1200 - 1300, and then by 1400 it had evolved to mean a female child specifically and that has pretty much stayed the course since. but all the people insisting dude/bro/bud is neutral despite it's original (and current) uses seem to have absolutely no interest in redefining/returning to the origins of girl in the same way
blah blah blah put kimi antonelli in the williams and move carlos to mercedes blah blah blah
YOURE ALL WRONG
put kimi antonelli in the williams of ALEX ALBON and move alex up to mercedes.
brocedes 2.0 except theyre nice to each other and they care about each other and its not really brocedes even though theyre besties since childhood and in silver mercs.
because galex would be nice to each other. anti-brocedes. the opposite of brocedes would happen to them i think. and that would just destroy brocedes because that means for them that nico and lewis just did not have to do all that shit and were more willing to sacrifice themselves and their love for each other than race wins and it was all for nothing in the end.
it would be fun i think. loscar should do it too but they should unlock some secret third ending (im delusional abt logan sargeant redemption arc with cadillac. IT WILL HAPPEN PEOPLE) because loscar is just like, some other beast all together.
