Kit: I'm friendly, loyal, and energetic. Kit: I just described a dog, didn't I? Jade: Well, yeah, but people love dogs
*Kit about to do something she shouldn't*
Elora: I wouldn’t do that if I were you.
Kit: I can do whatever the fuck I want.
Elora: Okay, I’m calling Jade...
Kit: no, no, no, WAIT-
HEY AMERICANS. "COCONUT" IS NOT A SLUR. It's an insult brown people use to call other brown people when they're acting like a white person. Any person of colour can use it, including Black people. It's free speech, not hate speech. Harris's supporters use it because of her anecdote that became a meme, which is fine because it isn't an insult in that context, and only amuses South Asians at worst. You can do whatever you want with it but stop saying it's a slur when fucking Rishi Sunak literally had a South Asian woman arrested for calling his band of merry brown Tory demons "coconuts". The only reason someone would call it a slur is extreme butthurt.
Also the lotus is a symbol of both India's ethnofascist BJP and Sri Lanka's SLPP parties. Please reject that as an alternative as well.
Stop spreading misinformation before you give white people the idea to turn it into a slur. Reblog this.
The fact that The Acolyte faced a hate campaign before it even aired speaks volumes about the real reason behind its cancellation. This was NEVER about the show’s quality or its potential….it was always about the toxic gatekeeping mentality that has taken root in the Star Wars community! When the so called "fans" choose to attack and sabotage a project before it even has a chance to prove itself it’s not a valid critique; it’s a reflection of deep seated prejudice and intolerance.
This whole controversy surrounding The Acolyte exposes the toxic and problematic values that the Star Wars community has embraced. Even if the show doesn’t return, I want you to remember how you behaved. This kind of behavior doesn’t just harm the show—it undermines the inclusive and hopeful spirit that Star Wars is supposed to represent. You call us "fake Star Wars fans" while embodying everything that Star Wars stands against. You've built a bubble of fear prejudice and intolerance towards anything new. but at some point this bubble will burst—what will you do then? Knowing random facts about lightsabers and Yoda doesn’t make you a real Star Wars fan. embracing the Star Wars spirit, its true message, and being kind and open to change is what makes you a real fan. So in a way you’ve been the fake fan all along and you SHOULD feel bad about the way you've treated all the people involved in this show and its fans.
This may be shocking to hear but I'm actually not particularly interested in dinosaurs.
ok looks like we're gonna be doing the same thing, different verse, now that it's Kamala Harris on the Dem ticket instead of Joe Biden.
friendly reminder that one of these 2 people is getting elected. there's not a magical 3rd party person who's mystical and perfectly progressive who is gonna come out of the woodwork and save us. not voting or voting 3rd party isn't a "protest," it's capitulation. so let's do a comparison:
I forgot to add to this that Trump also stated he will deport any non-citizen who protests the war in Gaza.
In case you don't believe me re: the last Trump point.
Racists will always be mad. But now an entire new generation of black kids get to grow up with black Jedi that aren't just Mace Windu. Bell Zettifar. Kai Brightstar. Yord Fandar. Mae Aniseya. Kelleran Beq. This isn't even all of them but they are in the biggest medias.
I was scrolling through merch and saw kids Kai Brightstar costumes for halloween and my heart exploded remembering when I was in a walmart years ago near halloween and a little black boy ran past me to scream at his mom that he could be Falcon for Halloween. When I was baby sitting my chinese friends little brother and showed him Keenan Kong Chinas Superman and he said "So I can be Superman for Halloween?" Like he at age 10 already thought he couldn't be.
This matters. All the negativity doesn't matter because so many star wars loving families and kids are getting to tune in and for the first time in their lives see so many people reflecting them. Their hair being celebrated and styled completely casually on TV. Their softness and power. Their importance and impact.
Even in Young Jedi Adventures Bell Zettifar spends the episode with Kai teaching him about patience and not being reckless. Bonding together and being a positive almost sibling like relationship. There's a black Princess in the show as well.
Regardless of all the hate and negativity this is so so so important and I tear up thinking about all the little kids and older fans finally seeing this because I know its already brought me to tears
It truly means so much to me the way the white characters in The Acolyte aren't main characters, or if they do have a bigger role they are non-human characters like Jecki and Master Vernestra. Like for once it's not on sight that I clock tokenism or dehumanized BIPOC characters. For once in Star Wars I'm seeing a reversed ratio of white to non white. For so long it's been 4 white for every 1 non white character. I want to go back in time and tell the 8 year old me that our time is coming.
They/them, INFP, Aquarius | many obsessions | life is life-ing so basically on hiatus :(
