Don’t imagine being stuck in an elevator with your tc.

I've never had a TC account but as someone that was in the community for 3ish years,,, here are some things I'd like to share after now being about 4 months out of highschool

-If you see those posts about watching out for red flags, how older men shouldn't be friends with teenage girls and how they should Definitely never persue relationships with them and your first thought is "not me, I'm just mature for my age, it's fine if I do it and I can handle myself" I was you for years. As soon as things start to get iffy, get out fast. Grooming is very real, and a lot of older people do use their power positions to manipulate younger people. You could very well have a healthy, mentor like relationship with your TC, but know where the lines are and when they're being crossed.

-it is completely normal for younger people to take an interest in older people, especially ones in power positions over them. It is the adult's job to never entertain that idea. (Not that you should Ever persue a much older adult as a minor though, you do have some responsibility but victims of grooming are victims and are more than valid)

-Learn! The! Signs! Of! Grooming!! If you are ever uncomfortable or feel as though you're being perceived by your TC in a way that makes you uncomfortable or just not feel right, don't brush it off. Set your boundaries and avoid that situation as much as possible after boundaries are crossed.

-It's okay to feel uncomfortable. I know a lot of people on here talk about how much they would love more or a certain type of attention from their TC, but if you're in that spot, don't let anyone make you think you have to be grateful for it, even and especially if it makes you feel wrong/uncomfortable/violated in any type of way

-I'll add more if I think of anything else, and feel free to comment anything along these lines I missed. More than anything, keep yourself safe. Your health and safety come before anything else, even their job or reputation if it gets to that point. Whatever you're feeling IS valid.

My asks and DMs are always open for anyone that needs it. I hate that I have to look back at highschool and have it laced with memories that now make me feel sick to my stomach knowing those moments weren't what I thought they were and it's hard to not have anyone to talk to about it because no one knew, but that also means I have no room to judge or blame anyone in the same spot. Just stay safe guys ❣️

Write your tc a card

If you don’t know how to start up a conversation with your tc, since Christmas is coming up, write them a Christmas card!!

If you don’t want people to get suspicious write Christmas cards for all your teachers (if you have too many, maybe your favourites other than tc) but just make your tcs really personalised.

If you want to seem even less suspicious get other people to sign it as well, like the rest of your class (just their names or maybe a little message with that) and after everyone has, you can write a personalised paragraph or two yourself without people finding out how personal you made it or how much you wrote.

If you’re not sure about when to give it to them, I’d suggest on like the last day or two days (in case they end up not coming in or something) before the Christmas break or at the end of your last lesson with them before the break. You can go to their office and hand it in and have a little chat or you can just do it after lesson and have a little chat. If it’s after lesson you probably want to wait behind a bit so it’s not awkward for you if people see you or end up listening in on your conversation and also so you don’t feel rushed. I’m telling you about it now so you have time to think about what you’re gonna write, what card you’re gonna get etc etc (if you don’t have the money to buy one, make one!!)

An eventful maths lesson - last post for today haha

We had a uni student studying maths at oxford observe our maths lesson. Our teacher gave us his surname being like ‘this is mr [insert his surname]’ but honestly I already have a shit memory and am even worse at remembering names and can’t remember for the life of me what it was. But anyway he comes over to my table to observe what I’m doing and I hate when people look at me work because it makes me nervous. Anywhore, he asks me what I’m doing and I fuck up my explanation because like I said - the nervousness. Then my maths teacher asks me to show my working on the board which caught me off guard and which I’m pretty sure she wanted to happen. So after making a fool of myself the uni guy comes up to me and teaches me how to add big numbers in my head without using my calculator. And I’m shit at this because it requires mental space since you have to store numbers in your head etc. But like I said - the nervousness + my bad memory means I repeatedly fuck up while the person sitting next to me doesn’t (there’s one desk and it’s two people per desk, so it’s me and this guy V and he’s pretty much a maths wizz and was good at it, I was not). So to get away from the whole mathsy conversation I ask him about uni life and why he was here, if he wanted to be a teacher etc etc and yeh we got pretty close in the space of that one maths lesson tbh. He also confessed he had no idea what we were doing because it’d been so long since he’d done such easy maths. I looked at him knowingly and said something like ‘you’re doing the type of maths where there’s more letters from the alphabet than actual numbers’ and he chuckles and explained what he did. Then the bell goes and we have to inevitably leave and as I leave I turn around and say ‘Bye Mr uuuum, what’s your name again, I forgot’ and he smiles and sort of chuckled shouting (okay not shouting but in a raised voice) back at me ‘Just call me Leo’ and I smile and say ‘Bye Leo’ but yeh that was an eventful lesson, did I mention he was kinda cute?? Also I remembered his name that time because it’s my star sign haha

so I’ve recently been looking at the people in the tcc that I’m following and seeing how many of the accounts are inactive. I know that they all have their own reasons, but I am still really saddened by this and fearing that our community is slowly dying. please reblog this if you are an active member in the teacher crush community.
