As we searched through the rubble for survivors, we heard the faint voice of my younger brother calling from beneath the debris of a nearby house. He was pulled out with partial memory loss and a skull fracture, and every day since, he has endured his pain in silence. The doctors have stressed the urgent need for surgery to remove the shrapnel lodged in his head, but this operation can only be performed abroad.
