i am shrunken down and brought to the gnome world and when i attempt to assimilate to their culture I use an acorn cap as a hat and they all laugh cheerfully at my silly mistake of wearing what they use as a bowl like a cap and though this is a transgression that would have humiliated me in my human life I am instead laughing alongside them at my humorous misunderstanding

Hey hey wonderful Trafficblr peeps, especially @whiver-wyverncat lovely mutual <3 love you lots
So I was rewatching Scott's Double Life, and I had a fanfiction idea that needs rating (I don't know if this has already been done, but either way I thought it could be a fun thing after I finish the Joelzzie siren AU)
Modern, Soulmates AU, where everyone's paired up like Double Life, along with Skizz & Gem and Mumbo & Lizzie. Scott is the main PoV. People who haven't found/don't reside with their soulmates after they're in their 20s are kind of seen as having failed in life, and dating someone other than your soulmate is absolutely SCANDALOUS
Soulmates share a tattoo on their hands. They'll also have any injury done to their soulmate appear on them until they meet. Scott and Jimmy dated in college before Jimmy found Tango, and they broke up on sour terms (Jimmy got sent to the ICU because of Tango, which is where they met, and Jimmy thinks Scott abandoned him there, but actually the nurse people wouldn't let Scott see Jimmy because they weren't soulmates. Scott got angry at the idea of "soulmates" after that and when he found out Jimmy found his soulmate, he got really flighty and Jimmy decided to break it off.)
A couple years later, Scott's living with his college friend Cleo, and Cleo has a girl friend group and they realized Pearl's tattoo looks similar to Scott's (Scott wears gloves but Cleo's seen it before he started wearing them) and when Scott ends up out with Cleo they stumble into her friends who insist they get Scott and Pearl to meet and check if they're soulmates
Scott gets trauma triggered and goes on a bad bender the night before they're supposed to meet and (ironically) ends up in the ICU. The Girl Group gets Pearl in there because she suddenly felt awful and they're like "alright let's get to Scott now" and the worst happens, and they're Soulmates
Enemies-to-friends with hints of will-they-won't-they (but they won't) about challenging the amatonormative society with gay and platonic shenanigans. (also Scott and Jimmy make up in the end dw)
Tumblr broskis, why this got no notes? I need more!
Imagine some of the other hermits were persecuted for their own unique features, like Doc for being partly a creeper or Joe for being fishy or smth (I have no clue what the fandom interprets him as), and then you've got like Martyn dropping in trying to avoid the Watchers and Grian here with Watcher trauma- like THIS HAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL. PEOPLE PAY ATTENTION.
also can we get like. cockatoo Mumbo and parrot Grian. my stupid brain that loves associations would die for that. and then heron/egret Pearl. cause like she sticks her feet in danger and then runs away as it blows up. i'm spitballing here but this has captured my mind.
There are three ways I choose the type of bird the hermits will be: Appearance, Symbolism, and/or Characteristics. Some just have the fandom interpretation like Parrot Grian, Eagle False, and Canary Jimmy. It was fun (and also frustrating) to match birds to characters.
I made Bdubs a Hummingbird not only because of the short joke, but I had an image of flowers growing in his mossy cloak that he occasionally sipped at. Hummingbirds also symbolize creativity, perseverance, endurance, and living in the moment. The way Bdubs builds really shows, to me, that he really takes in the world and reflects things back into Minecraft in a way that no one else does.
I tried to have a bunch of unique and different birds so it felt like some cobbled together flock that was still aesthetically pleasing. Wings and tails were important to factor in, since that’s how the bird would be represented in the avian.
Here’s a quick basic guide I sketched in five minutes:
Currently working on a little lore… 👀
AAAAAA YOU'RE THE BEST MATE :D
P4 OF MY SIREN LIZZIE AU.....

Adding a couple common phrases
It is NOT "A doggy-dog world." It IS "A dog-eat-dog world"
It is NOT "For all intensive purposes" It IS "For all intents and purposes"
It is NOT "Case and point" It IS "Case in point"
It is NOT "I could care less" It IS "I couldn't care less"
It is NOT "A mute point" It IS "A moot point"
IT’S NOT ‘PEEKED’ MY INTEREST
OR ‘PEAKED’
BUT PIQUED
‘PIQUED MY INTEREST’
THIS HAS BEEN A CAPSLOCK PSA
May I present
The "Traitor" Third Life animatic
...just sayin :D
For the Cactus Ring fight, it’s usually shown in fanart as Grian punching or choking Scar out, but have we considered. Rock
Might be a weird compliment but I think part of why Cleo and Scott are such an effective team in the life series is because they're both really really good at bluffing.
Cleo is very outright with the fact that she doesn't consider herself very strong at pvp, even compared to other members of the server. But people are still very consistently scared of them. Why? Well, I think a lot of it is that Cleo acts like someone who is really good at pvp. They're often very threatening, very overtly aggressive, as a preventative measure, just to make sure they're never seen as an easy target. Cleo tells everyone that she can and will ruin them at the first slight against her, and frankly, people aren't interested in testing that. Even if Cleo doesn't actually consider themself to be the strongest fighter, it matters more how they're perceived by other people. Fire- which Cleo is very famous for using as an easy punishment for any wrongdoing against her- is also a very good threat display. Usually minecraft fire is, honestly, not that hard to deal with, and the damage is usually superficial (unless you're joel and just kinda stand in the fire until you die), but the thing about fire is that it's big and dramatic. Surround yourself in flames twice your size and make sure you don't flinch when they point their weapons at you and people will be scared of you without you having to fight, because you look like more effort than you're worth.
Scott isn't overtly threatening in the same way most of the time, but he achieves a very similar effect with his ability to keep consistently calm and collected. I've watched multiple scenes where people come to kill Scott just to literally panic and backtrack as soon as he acknowledges with calm amusement or irritation instead of seeming threatened (i also think this is how mumbo got him in wild life- scott is literally so used to startling people with a mostly calm acknowledgment of their murder attempts that he genuinely didn't expect mumbo to actually still activate his trap, even when scott was standing on it). I've watched multiple scenes where Scott is objectively outmatched or even outnumbered in a fight just for the others involved to falter or outright retreat because Scott wasn't acting like someone in any danger, because even if he's on four hunger and one heart, he often still talks like he isn't scared. If you he just smile or roll your eyes and don't flinch back from them, people will eventually get really confused, wary, or tired, and will, again, decide you are more effort than you're worth.
It's honestly a testament to their intelligence, social and situational awareness, and emotional control, that both Cleo and Scott are so good at bluffing (albeit with slightly different forms of it). I don't know how to wrap up this post, they're just really good at this competition, thanks for coming to my ted talk.
