I...disagree with the idea of Loki being a narcissist.
Acting out the way he does isn't just a trait of narcissists but also of people with low self-esteem, (I should know, being someone who has acted in such a way myself in the past.) Loki was clearly constantly put down by others, disrespected by who he thought were his people, and generally considered 'lesser' to Thor for most of, if not all of his life for seemingly no reason at all. (He 'feels' he's in Thor's shadow because he blatantly is. There's clear favouritism not just from Odin, but from all of Asgard.)
He never wanted the throne, nor did he actually want power or popularity, he just wanted someone to tell him that he was worthy, he wanted someone to tell him he was worth something and that he wasn't a monster like the other Jotuns were. (This is far clearer in the deleted scenes, where Loki hesitates to take the throne in the first Thor movie, and even looks to his mother, the only person who really seemed to love him, before taking it. As well as his clearly more lovable interactions with Thor before it was revealed that he was Jotun.)
I mean, hell, he tried to commit suicide at the end of the first Thor movie when his father, whom he tried to get recognition from, and who was certainly the biggest issue with his self-esteem, rejected him yet again.
I feel like this is most prominent when you take into account that he IS a Jotun, a being that he was raised to hate and fear. He believes he's a monster, and that coupled with his already problematic self-esteem just makes it apparent that he has the exact opposite problem that a narcissist has. He does deeply care for other people as well. Frigga being the biggest example, in Dark world, he was heartbroken and devastated by her loss. (And the fact that the last thing he said to her was that she 'wasn't his mother' certainly didn't make it better.) Or in Infinity War, where he recognizes Thanos' plan to kill 'half' of everything, so, seeing as he's one of two brothers, gets Thanos to kill him so Thor will get out safely. Literally sacrificing himself for his brother, who he, on all accounts, shouldn't have cared enough to help there if he was a narcassist.
The mind stone and the sceptre weren't mind controlling Loki, but it was messing with his head, as is seen in-universe as well as mentioned in interviews. This is seen where he stabs Thor, as he's clearly shaken by what he's just done, even if you can only see this reaction for a few moments. He also doesn't believe in what he's saying in Avengers when he's telling the people around him to kneel, that's why Phil claims that he lacks conviction: Because he really does, he's doing all of this because he's hurting, and the mind stone is manipulating him, he doesn't actually believe anything he's saying there.
Before anyone brings it up as well: Ragnarok and the Loki TV show are pieces of MCU lore that should be taken with a grain of salt. Many things said in Ragnarok are inconsistent with the other movies (See Sif apparently having to prove that women can be warriors, yet, the Valkyries existed. Or the fact that apparently the Valkyries died before Thor's time but Thor always wanted to join them? Or the 'we were eight at the time' line, when Thor and Loki, being Asgardian/Jotun, age differently than humans, so by that point, would've actually been infants. The Loki show as well, Sylvie and the entire situation revolving around that comes with many character and story inconsistencies, such as magic seen not working in the TVA but apparently Sylvie can still use it in another episode.)
Basically, from where I'm standing, this diagnosis doesn't seem to make any sense? It makes more sense to say that he's faking narcissism just so he can look strong and more in control, while on the inside continuing to feel unworthy and unlovable. Lashing out not because he's truly hateful, but because, as you've said in another video: 'Hurt people, hurt people.' (Again, something I have sadly been through.) I'd also like to point out, in this way, his mischief seems more like a cry for help. As many will point out, if someone is neglected enough in early life, they're likely to develop a mentality of 'any attention is good attention', which seems to be pretty in-line with a lot of 'mischief' he pulls.
But hey, I'm not a therapist, and that's just my opinion.
Note: Narcissists aren’t inherently bad people. Don’t write them off as ‘evil’ or ‘monsters’. Not all of them are. Putting everyone in boxes like that for mental disabilities or neurodivergence is doing nothing but perpetuating harmful rhetoric and harming people.
...With that being said though, Loki ain’t it, chief.
Real talk though: Cinema therapy’s video on Loki is stupid as hell. ‘Loki genuinely believes he is superior’ is a direct quote, and as you can read from the above post, that statement is blatantly wrong on its own.
Natasha was a killer and tried to kill a child, Clint was a killer and murdered many people when his family was dead, Wanda brainwashed avengers, sent Hulk to a city full of innocent people, enslaved a city with population over 3000+ and tortured them, refused to let them go and tried to kill a child, Thor was the guy who tried to commit genocide after being called "a princess", Mobius worked on organization who tortured and killed innocent people AND tortured and killed them himself with a smile, Valkyrie has been enslaving people and selling them to Grandmaster for at least thousand years, Tony created Ultron and MANY other villains because of his irresponsibility, Thanos commited a bunch of genocides, tortured and mind controlled people, including his "kids", Odin conquered nine realms, turned his children into instruments and punished them for disobeying, Sylvie burned brainwashed people alive and killed innocent security guards with a smile on her face and before killing Kang looked into his eyes and asked him if he wants to beg for his life.
MCU and it's stans: They are heroes, Odin is a good dad, Thanos was right, Wanda has trauma.
Bucky killing people because of being controlled and feeling guilty for it, apologizing to his victim's families, Loki being tortured and mind controlled during NYC and resisting against Thanos's orders, ending with kill count of 74, being responsible for one crime aka Jotunheim, and sacrificing himself almost every movie
MCU and their stans: they are RESPONSIBLE! BUCKY CAN'T HIDE BEHIND THE LACK OF CONTROL! LOKI IS A CARELESS NARCISSIST AND AN IRREDEEMABLE VILLAIN WHO DESERVES BEING TORTURED!
Me:
I saw Jurassic world Dominion in IMAX yesterday. One of my favorite dinosaurs made an appearance in the movie and I was super happy to see that! Therizinosaurus, aka, The ‘Freddy Krueger-saurus’.
As for the movie itself, it’s...alright. There were a lot of references to older movies/lore and all, which I appreciated. They also added some ‘more accurate’ depictions of dinosaurs, also appreciated.
But on its own merit, it was alright.
The plot was a little weak, but honestly, considering what happened in the last movie, I feel there’s very little you can do next without stepping on any toes. (Seeing as dinosaurs on the mainland could probably get old pretty fast, and hybrid dinos were used for the last two world movies so that would most likely be tired by that point.)
I think it was a pretty okay send-off, all things considered.
Though it did kind of feel like they cut out scenes, or shaved off things for the sake of the run time. There were still quite a few things I liked about the movie, I’d probably watch it again, tbh.
All in all...ehh... 5/10
-Loki has a massive sweet tooth. It’s canon that Loki enjoys food from Midgard more than food from Asgard, but I headcanon that he’s also fairly partial to sweets.
This is...mostly due to irl offerings to Loki apparently being sweets, but-
-One of Loki’s love languages is physical touch...but- Loki is just one of those people who, regardless of context, will often respond to sudden displays of physical affection like a passing car splashed him with puddle water. Just- freezing up with wide eyes, arms lifted away from the person while he’s currently blue-screening on the inside.
...Thor is very used to this being his reaction when he hugs him.
-Loki’s usually wakes up at dawn. I literally don’t know what brought this thought on. Somehow my brain just said: “Loki wakes up at dawn and usually goes to bed really early.” and now that’s just in my brain. So, basically, Loki was/is usually one of, if not the very first person to be awake in the Asgard palace.
-Loki’s favorite colour isn’t green, it’s actually gold. He wears gold more sparingly because over-saturation is never a good thing.
-Loki is a light-weight. When it comes to alcohol and being able to hold alcohol, Thor definitely has him beat, along with...just about every other Asgardian. Besides being ‘Odin’s son’ and ‘The god of mischief’, Loki is also known in Asgard as being the easiest person in the realm to get drunk.
-Why is this so well-known is Asgard? Simple: Whenever he gets drunk, Loki turns into a party animal. Thus, Thor tends to make a habit of ‘gently persuading’ him to join Asgardian parties so he can try to get his brother drunk. That way, his brother will have a good time. Then, he (and Sif/the warriors three) can 1. relax and not have to worry about Loki pulling some mischief somewhere. and 2. Have some nice entertainment watching Loki parade around on the tables singing and dancing.
Loki hates it when Thor does this because Loki finds his actions when drunk humiliating.
-Loki knows how to ice skate and is actually good at it. So good that at one point he genuinely considered joining the figure skating portion of the Olympic games under an alias once. This was before the events of the Thor movie, during one of his visits to earth, of course. He ultimately decided against it, (Especially after realizing how much paperwork was involved.) but I’ll tell you with 100% certainty that if he’d gone through with it, he would’ve at least placed in the top 3.
-Loki once had a crush on Sif. I feel like this isn’t that uncommon. But yeah, I headcanon that Loki had a thing for her in the past, but either he told her and was rejected, or he just gave up/found out she wasn’t interested and just moved on.
-Loki’s favorites. Yes, I’ve even come up with this, haha. -His favorite food is cheesecake (Candied apples being a close second.) -His favorite season is Autumn -His favorite music genre is Classical/Broadway-style music -and finally, his favorite flowers are Tiger lilies.
-Loki doesn’t like coffee. Yup, he’s not a coffee drinker. He’s on team tea for sure, though he’s also on the unofficial third team of the argument: Team hot cocoa. He’s stubborn about this, he will die on this hill.
The best part: Thor is the opposite. He loves coffee and dislikes tea (As is also said in Ragnarok) so-

Person: Hey, don't call that MLP character 'Derpy Hooves', that's insulting and ableist! Me: Oh, okay, what should I call her, then? Person: Call her 'Ditzy Doo'. :) Me: ...How is 'Ditzy Doo' less insulting than Derpy Hooves? Person: Well, 'Derpy' is ableist towards people with mental disabilities. Me: And 'Ditzy' is a misogynistic insult towards a woman perceived as stupid, especially if they're a blonde (Which Ditzy happens to also be). ...And you think naming a FEMALE CHARACTER 'Ditzy' is fine?
Can someone explain why people say this? How is 'Ditzy' less bad than 'Derpy'? /gen
You missed a few:
-People apologizing Tony for all the shit he pulled.
-Holding Thanos in higher regard than half the other characters despite him being arguably badly-written and doing horrible things to the other characters even before the snap.
-Completely missing Loki’s entire arc during the first two Thor movies and Avengers, and chalking them up as ‘just a narcissistic villain’.
MCU fans in a nutshell:
Apologizing anything Wanda ever did, even things she did when there was no influence on her.
Victim blaming Bucky and Loki for being controlled and tortured.
Apologizing Clint killing people after the death of his family.
Calling Zemo a villain for doing literally the same.
Smell the hypocrisy.
Using the novelization of movies as evidence for something in the movie itself is really stupid.
Mainly, I'm saying this because the writer of the novelization is often a different person, who is tasked with 'expanding' on the source in their own way. Sometimes given early versions of the script to work off of, which were already scrapped for one reason or another.
So, the writer of the novelization will have a different interpretation of the story/characters than the original writers, and the movie's ideas and entire point may end up getting muddled and overshadowed by the biases and perspective of the novelization's writer.
So, to me, novelizations of movies/tv shows are far more like remakes, not bonus scenes. It follows the same formula, but it's not the same. So it makes no sense to use them as evidence for something in the original movie, whether it be about character, plot, or worldbuilding.
Same with movie-tie in video games, etc. People don't use those as 'evidence' from what I've seen, but I've seen people use movie novelizations as evidence, and it bothers the hell out of me.
Idk, I just wanted to make this post, because I'm annoyed.
